Just to add to previous review, played Sunday and greens had been recently verti-cut (probably in the last two days). It did not affect putts however, which were generally speedy and true.

Would also add the old buggaboo about OQ bunkers - especially the deep ones where you are 10-12 feet below the green. They are thin and the club tends to bounce off a hard base lurking just below the surface causing a lot of chili-dipped attempts at an explosion shot. Please add mas arena.

Greens are quite bumpy right now. Lots of grass, just in need of some rolling and cutting. Fairways are excellent. Rough is playable, and there are a few thick parts that will give you issues. Sand is fine. The tees however, are quite shaggy.

Still a great course at the asking price.

I used my final Players Advantage card yesterday (exp 12-31-17), and they are not having this promotion card anymore. It was a beautiful day for golf, the course had some brown spots throughout the course, but all playable lies.
The tee boxes are firm, flat, and level. But the occasional hacker tee up, have "hacked" the divots into the area. The fairways are firm and fast, you can get a lot of additional yardage with a solid trajectory shot. The rough is low, so the play is easy to get out, and advance your shot.
The bunkers are firm and packed down. A flyer will happen, if you skull it or aditional shots when you dig and don't hit the ball solid. Greens are fast and furious. They rolled smooth, with angulation. The putts are tricky, and challenging.
I always enjoy playing here because of the scenery and majestic views. A must play track.

Using my Player Advantage card, I played yesterday at 9 AM. The weather was perfect for golf.
The course is in very good condition. The tee boxes are level and firm. Some did have some bad divots, because of bad golf swings! The fairways are firm and fast. A good drive into the fairway will roll out an additional 15-20 yards. The rough seem low and very playable, some had 1 1/2 - 2 " but not throughout the course. The bunkers where a bit firm and wet, but diffidently playable. The greens are rolling fast and true. The angulation on the greens will keep it a challenge. Speed control is a must! Stay below the cup, and it is easier to convert.

This is a must play track!

We played today 11/30 and the weather was great. We were really looking forward to this outing since we have had good experiences in the past here. The course itself overall is only in what I would call okay condition. Fairways are decent and the rough has been overseeded and grown in for the most part. The bunkers are not in good condition for the most part. Some had standing water, some were just mud and some were gravel. I did see that some did have some sand in them but they were not consistent.The greens were bumpy and on the slow side. They have not been rolled. We watched most of our putts bouncing all the way towards the hole but we never knew what direction the ball was going to take due to the bumps. A real disappointment. The course layout is great, but I will not drive an hour for conditions like that.

I played here on Black Friday from the Blue...The course has been over seeded and has come back nicely. The tee boxes are level and firm. The fairways are in great condition, they are firm and lush, with a good swing, you'll get some extra roll. the rough was cut down to a reasonable playing condition. It was about about 1 1/2" - 2", which is playable, and easy to spot your ball. The bunkers has good quality sand, I just pray that every player rakes after walking through them. The greens where medium speed, and rolled smooth. Overall the course is in top notch condition.

Back out to my favorite course in SoCal on a clear, hot and breezy Wednesday morning, 11/22/17. I had an Underpar certificate that expired about a week ago and wanted to just get $$ credit against the green fee, but shop said I had to address that with UP. No tee time, so I just walked up at 10am and got a $55 senior rate, and wound up being paired with a threesome going off within 30 minutes, so no time for warmup. Course looked busy in the parking lot but our group managed to go off ahead of several other carts waiting up top. Carts are nice with well-padded seats and a good GPS system, and a club/ballwasher attached.

First time for me playing OQ in a Santa Ana wind condition, so many of the holes played very differently than what I’m used to here – tough par 4s like #s 7, 11, and 13 played downwind, really changing the way these holes are approached. I found myself having to hit quite a few wedges at odd yardages and having to factor in some strong downwind/upwind considerations.

Coming out of overseed everything continues to be very wet, including the bunkers – tees, fairways, and rough are wet and soft, but bunkers are pretty much unplayable(!) – wet with puddles in the bottom, sandy/muddy like new cement, really impossible to get the club under the ball in the traps whether in the fairways or (especially) around the greens. There was even some scattered small area watering in progress.

Greens were rolling medium-slow and pretty were bumpy, but were soft and receptive, resulting in very large ballmarks when we hit them – and there were not that many old marks. Fairway lies were generally OK and rough was generally pretty short - in areas that had been allowed to grow longer, away from greens and playing areas, mowers were active cutting in the rough areas. Tees were either shaggy long or bare/torn up, so they are needing a dry-out and mowing; many tees were sloping pretty badly (we played White) and need leveling.

Overall conditions are just OK, with bunkers being a huge negative. If the course needs to maintain everything in a wet condition to come out of the overseed (which is understandable), the bunkers HAVE to be deep-raked regularly to dry them out and make them be playable, at least. Otherwise, wait at least a couple more weeks for conditions to improve further.

We had a lower-skilled and slower group in front of us and we waited frequently, finishing in just over 4.5 hr. It’s really a crapshoot about who you are going to be paired with when you walk on as a single – our group included a father-son (~11) pair that was local – the kid really didn’t have any business being on a full-length course, especially one like this where elevation changes and hazard areas are prevalent. And the father was wild and all over the place, so for the entire round I was never sure where he was going to wind up, and the kid was running around back and forth to his ball. The older 4th guy was a regular here and very competent, but borderline rude with driving away from the tee even before we had all hit, or driving ahead to his tee shot while the kid was still moving up to the red box. Both were playing loud rock music in their carts (WHY??!!) but I really didn’t hear it except to the tees. As everyone knows I’m a pretty serious player, and these guys all had a very casual attitude (toward play, toward etiquette, toward divots and ballmarks, etc.) that really put me off – combined with the wild shots and the kid running all over the place, I really had difficulty maintaining any kind of concentration.

As usual, the 4th tee was really backed up – it’s a challenging tee shot to a narrow fairway, path-only all the time on this hole, etc. There were fewer water stations than usual with the end of summer conditions, so with the unexpected heat today I was pretty parched. The lakes on #s 10/11/12/13 are still dry (you can easily play from within the red stakes), with only #s 16/18 with water, and lowered levels there than usual.

Played the home track twice this week. On Sunday the over growth from the seeding was running wild. The tee boxes and rough were way over grown with healthy green turf. Fast forward to Wednesday. The crews have been out making the first clippings on the overgrowth and the course is starting to take shape. Tee boxes have been framed and the rough is thick, but not real penalizing. It’s very dense but soft. The crews were everywhere yesterday. Mowing, watering and working on the green side bunkers. By this week end the course should be in absolute beautiful condition. I tried making a tee time but Friday, Saturday and Sunday are already pretty full.

I played here, last Friday, on Pre-Veterans Day weekend.
After the aerating the course was in really great condition. The tee boxes are flat, but did have some divots from previous hackers, but overall they where fine. The fairways are firm and fast, I didn't see any brown or bare spots. The rough was a bit long, probably 3-4 inches, I did lose a couple of balls in the long rough. The greens rolled smooth and true, you just have to adjust your putt and speed. They rolled med-fast. Bunkers are in good condition, good quality of sand.
This is one of my favorite course to play, so I'll be back!
