Played Johnny Gk today at this Course to for our Match play. Was raining lightly when we started. It went on and off for most of the day, just enough to keep the everything wet. It wouldn't be fair to review this course in a positive sense due to the weather conditions. This course has always had bite to it and today was not exception. Tee boxes good, fairway at times were soggy in some places, greens were lighting fast and the bunkers were soggy wet. The greens were puzzling to me to see how fast the greens were with all the wetness on the them. Still a great track. : ( I lost to GK Johnny 3/2

Always a great place to test your game for $55 bucks Senior rate. By the way, Oak Quarry has discontinued the Veterans Rate they use to have. Another blow to the Vets.

Our Golf club Played Saturday 4/7 with a 7AM tee time for 1st Group (My 4some)

The course was in good condition, fairways have greened in, encountered many un-sanded divots from previous groups. Rough was punishing, 2-3 inches high, damp, and grabbed the club or hit grass between ball and club face making for a tough out. Bunkers were firm with damp sand/dirt mix, some un-raked footprints. Greens were fluffy and med fast to slow, had not been cut/rolled, bumpy, many ball marks, but not much sign of aeration marks. All in all a good outing, but could have been more enjoyable. It still :Rocks"

Customer service was excellent as usual, waitress hustled our breakfast since we only had a half hour to tee time, made it to go. Waitress at 19th hole was friendly, and attentive.

I played OQ Tuesday, 4/3, starting as single around 1:00, joined by a twosome on the second through eighth holes where they doubled back to replay seven and eight. A husband/wife twosome caught up on the 12th and we played out the rest as three-some. First pair kept mostly to themselves, but the second pair were pleasant. Conditions overall were pretty nice with some reservations. Playing the whites, tee boxes were fine and level — with good coverage all around, the 17th could have used a trim but was still good. Fairways were consistently green and I can recall no issues with any lies. The rough was healthy, with many stretches that were lush enough to precipitate the occasional easter egg hunt and frequently costing a shot. I was in one fairway bunker and it was the usual firm and crusty, which helped me because the ball sat up high and was easier to pick clean. I saved par on that hole. Relatively speaking, the greens were the weak point. They were punched a little while back and I found them consistently a little bumpy and a medium quick speed. That medium speed felt slower because the practice green by the first tee was the more typically expected quick. It took some holes to unclench from the practice green speed and start trusting the actual green speed and put a little more pace on the ball, especially downhill. I love the course and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Even if the greens could be a bit smoother and quicker, they were pretty consistent which is important. My comments in that area are observations and not really complaints. They were good enough for me to birdie the 18th with a 25-foot putt that tracked dead straight even as I was waiting for some last second redirection. Just be aware that the practice green and course green speed might be different. Cart service knocks off around 2:00-ish, which feels a bit early with afternoon players out on the course, but all around service here is very good. Pace was about 4.5 hours. Not bad, but more bodies on the course than you would have expected from the booking site numbers.

Played here Monday 4/2/18. Got paired up with 3 other guys who all were friendly. Pace of play was 4 hours for us. Course is in great shape. Very green and clean. I didnt see many dead spots at all and everything looked to be watered. I fixed all divots and scuffs on the fairway to keep them looking amazing. Staff was friendly and I always love playing this course! I paid $50 but would have paid $75 for this.

I was out at Oak Quarry yesterday. The greens have recovered about 90% and the rest of the course is in excellent condition. (Except the bunkers, but that’s old news). The lakes on 15-18 have gotten a facelift. Very scenic, which only adds to the beauty of the course. With the days getting longer and the weather getting warmer The Rock is the place to play.

Out here right now on number 13 tee box. Pulled up to be the third group waiting on a par 4 tee box.... love it. Course admittedly doesn’t have enough golf carts to keep the course going. Teed off 25 minutes after our tee time because of cart shortage. Hate driving an hour to a course like this for this type of experience. Greens are really soft, slow and bumpy after punching three weeks ago, somehow courses have better greens than here one week after punching. Everything is really green and lush with the fairways being above average condition and the rough being US open length in some areas. If you want to play out at oak quarry I’d give the greens another three weeks and I would never come back in the afternoon, it’s a nightmare. The scenery of the course is not worth the customer service, slow rounds, greens condition and distance from most people. All of this blame falls squarely on the director of golf and management. I never understand how a course with such a good design can be run so poorly. But again, if you play at 9am on a weekday once the greens come back around you may have a totally opposite experience. The problem is this course has been like this for years in the afternoon and nothing ever changes. /end rant

This review is very late. Played Oak Quarry on March 1, 2018 and this was the first time I was disappointed. Probably no fault of Oak Quarry but entire fairway is yellowish in color. It was just visually very unpleasant. Spoke to the cart guys after the round and they said they've had several straight days of frost delays and due to the cold winter conditions, it has been like that for a week or so but they expect the fairways to start recovering as weather warms up.

Tee Boxes - The tee boxes in some holes were chewed up and thin but mostly level with good coverage.

Fairways - Dormant

Rough - Actually green and lush. It just felt better hitting off the rough than the fairway on this particular day.

Green - Greens were great and putts rolled smooth. Speed seemed to vary between holes.

Regardless of the conditions, I love the layout at Oak Quarry so I'm looking forward to going back after the winter is over.

Played yesterday at 12:04. I really have nothing to add to the last review, he nailed it. The starter was a bit more talkative when we were there though. This was my first time out at OQ and it won't be my last. Challenging but fair from the blues, very picturesque, a good variety of hole designs...I'm just happy it was a very light day for the wind, I imagine it gets very tough when it blows.
