Pros- The course was in great shape from the tee to the green. The fairways were a tad wet but they were really lush. As was the rough and the tee boxes.
Cons- The greens were worse than any course I have played in the last 3 years. I would rather putt Westlake(gulp). The ball bounced everywhere. No holding lines, no nothing... Course would be really close to a 10 if the greens were puttable. As a secondary, the bunkers were short on sand.
Overall- Love this place.. but I won't go back until the greens improve... Normally, 5 times a year

Course was in very good shape. Fairways, rough, and tee boxes are very lush right now. However, the fairways and tee boxes are a tad shaggy right now. The greens were very bumby and soft. There aren't very many ball marks, but the greens seem like they just haven't been rolled in a while. The bunkers were a little low on sand, but the course played great. Don't know if there is a better layout in the IE than Oak Quarry. The course designers did an amazing job with this piece of property.

Rough- Also very lush, was cut short and the ball sat up pretty well

Greens- Rolled about as true as I could imagine a green could roll. I appreciate that this course does not make a point to cut their greens so they are lightning fast as it would make putting unbearable

Bunkers- about the only thing that needs work as quite a few were hard pan and rocky, there are a few with good sand so I hope they are working little by little to improve them

Everything else is just great, to bad they are doing away with the advantage card as this will cut my number of rounds playing there to only once or twice. Owner says to many complaints by weekend golfers. Wouldn't you know it. Have a good holiday season all you GKers. P.S. thank you cry babies that booked morning tee times and then complained as the advantage card completely explained after 12. Because of you cry babies the advantage card has been discontinued. Hope you are happy.

Played on Black Friday morning, 10:30AM for $93, on a cool day with little wind but intermittent rain showers. Rain was mainly a nuisance as we had to put on and take off rain gear thruout the round. Otherwise a great day for golf - pricey on a holiday weekend but still cheaper than many comparable courses in Orange County.

Course is in very good condition. Greens were soft and receptive after the rain showers but still rolled true at medium fast speed. OK lies in the fairways, and rough was pretty consistent and not too long. Sand was damp and firm after the rain showers but traps were consistent with an adequate sand cover. Tees OK.

OQ is my favorite course in SoCal and I always enjoy playing here. We were disappointed today that most of the blue tees had been moved up to the white markers, so the course played shorter than usual, especially on some of the challenging par 3 holes (5, 10, 14). Saw the cart girl often. Snack shack open after #9. Saw the marshall frequently but to no avail as play took 5 hours - ugh! Still recommended.

Played Sun 11/24 6:45am. First time in a few years and don't know why I haven't been back in so long. Course is in amazing shape. Layout, scenery, service is all great. Far drive from OC but pace was great, 4 hours so I was home by 11:30. Course is GREEN!! with lush healthy fairways. Tee boxes were too lush... they needed a haircut. Greens were on the slow side too. Views and hole scenery are some of the best in so cal. Not a lot of wind in the morning so that was nice. My excuse was always that it's too far, but after playing Sunday, I think it's worth it. Had a great experience playing early.

Played OQ Sat, 23 Nov 0800 Sat Tee time. Service was as usual excellent. The course has recovered well since overseeding. Overall fantastic layout-I love this course. The wind was howling though. This is the main drawback of OQ-but it's usually not too bad.

Since the recent rain there was another issue: The Signature hole par 3 greenside front bunker had almost NO sand! My wedge bounced of the hardpan and I skulled it over the green. Request to OQ: If you can't get to any other traps, please keep this one in playing shape...

Played at 7:48 am Veterans Day. $50 for a reseeding special (cart path only) was a good value. Fairways and greens are looking and playing nicely. Bunkers were a bit moist. Driving range was decent, hitting off the grass. I have always enjoyed this track and was glad to see it in nice shape. Nice folks all around the course and in the facilities. The Spinel par 3 signature hole is intimidating and beautiful at the same time - looking down at a 200 yard pin with a a wall of white rock background and an emerald green guarded by the huge pond and bunkers on the left. I felt fortunate to walk away with a par. Great weather this day and a memorable round.

Wasnt warned they were thatching the fairways yesterday morning so they look thrashed. Played liftcleanplace cuz clumps of junk were sticking to ball and had to flatten a spot in fairway cuz the thatcher lumped up the fairway. Course was extremely firm everywhere like links golf. Had to bounce clubs in from 10-20 yds short (probably why they need to thatch the fairways). Quick greens but didnt roll very true (aerating soon).
Usually love the course so hopefully in a few weeks maintenance will have it back in shape.
