Played OQ Sat 24-Aug at 0716 on a clear ,sunny day. Almost no wind. All I can say is that Oak Quarry is in the best condition I've ever seen it in...going back 10 years!

The service was top notch and all the people were great-from the cash register to the starter to the 19th hole.

Congratulations to the super at Oak Quarry, he must be reading the reviews as several of the bunkers have nice sand in them and while I was playing this morning they were trimming on bunker on hole #8 and had a tractor full of sand to fill it up with. I just hope the wind that comes up later in the year won't blow it out. Once again, good job. Oh yeah. I really had a good time. Course is perfect

played again today. started early before the heat came in. Played with a few guys from Pasadena. one was a teaching pro. the other two were students. Was a bit slow but pleasant. Hard to find people that I don't like when I play. The course was in great shape again and your right STAY OUT OF THE BUNKERS!!!! They put new sand in some of the green side bunkers early this season but the sand has all been hit to the faces or out into the rough. The fairway bunkers are hard and krispy which makes it easier for me. Later in the fall the high Santa Ana winds will blow what remaining sand they have back to the orange county area. The best I can say is it more greens. Still look forward to playing it again.

I played this morning and I loved it. Course is in great condition and fun to play until, (you ready) you are unfortunate to get in a bunker. These have to be the worst bunkers around. Come on, at least roto til them or fill them in and grow grass. Shoot, some already have plants growing in them.

FINALLY, I made it to OQ.
Grrrreat!!!! course. Solid service, good facilities, and a 'die for' layout.
Lush conditions, 4.5 hours for 4 of us with amazing challenge.
Absolutely recommended.

Played again today (4th time this week) in a men's club tourney. Weather was very warm and the course was as spectacular as ever. They are putting a lot of water on the greens so they seamed a little slow but ran true. If you haven't had the opportunity to play here yet make it one of your must do's for this summer. I enjoy each time I am able to play here.

Played with my brother, (GK user: zeppelin51423) and dad.

First of all, if you're looking to play an absolutely beautiful course with plenty of elevation changes, undulated greens, fun and competitive layouts and breath-taking views, Oak Quarry supplies them all.

Teed up from the blues, playing some 150-200 yards shorter as some tees were moved forward. Always a fresh piece of turf to hit from on both the tee boxes and the lush fairways. In addition, the greens were top-notch; a little slow in the cloudy morning but rolled to a 10.5-11 by the end of the day.

The geology was amazing (if you're a science buff) and the views were spectacular. There is a reason they have won many awards for the prettiest holes.

Played August 1, 2013. I have been waiting to play here for years and had high expectations. The course was everything I expected and more.

Conditions were lush. Tee boxes and fairways were pristine. Greens were nice but soggy and slow in the morning, then around 1-2pm they sped up To a nice med/quick speed.

The views were top notch and my brother being a geologist had a great time checking out the geological features throughout the course. Weekend rate is too expensive for me but for 53$ including a cart on a Thursday it can't be beat. I will definitely return!

Played 9:30 AM Saturday, 7/27.

First, this has become my new favorite golf course in the LA area. It helped that the heat was moderate. I know it is usually closer to 100 or higher most summer days. I also understand that the wind can get pretty fierce in the afternoon.

It's an old quarry, so it's not all natural. But the scenery and landscape is dramatic and cool. The course is very well laid out with enough room off the tee to make it comfortable, but enough challenges around the green to make you think about how to play the hole from the tee. Very nice combination of short par 4's and long ones, reachable par 5's and beautiful and challenging par 3's. I like that there aren't any blind shots with properly placed balls.

Tee Boxes: Near perfect, except for 1 (16, I think)
Fairways: Plush and consistent
Rough: Plush and consistent (not very penalizing)
Sand traps: Inconsistent of the few I was in (one was very compacted, another was muddy, but most others that I saw looked good)
Greens: Very nice, consistent with challenges due to multi-tier, hill effects, run-offs and bunkers.
Overall: As I said above, now my favorite in LA area.

If you haven't played, it's a MUST play. Paid $85 and it's worth every penny.
