Played yesterday as a threesome with a 2:44 tee time and a $43 twilight rate from GolfNow.com. No one ahead of us and no one behind until the last few holes. Finished 18 well before sunset. There was a steady breeze that accounted for a 1 to 2 club difference plus or minus depending on direction, but given that it can howl out there, it was fine. I always enjoy this course. New carts worked well and overall the conditions were very nice. The main exception was the condition of the greens -- by standards of a course like this they were slow and ripe for a mowing. Variances in the length of the greens' grass was observable with discernable little tufts. We must have caught the outer edge of their mowing cycle. Also, compared to previous experiences, the bag/cart guys seemed to be a little off their usually responsive form -- maybe post-weekend, late-Monday lull after the morning "rush". Minor, but noticeable. Otherwise, tees and fairways were very nice, bunkers clean but definitely firm (no fluffy lies here). My two companions were first-timers, enjoyed it very much and looked forward to playing it again with a little more course knowledge.

Day two of my week of golf at new places and this was a great choice. I heard lots of good things about Oak Quarry and it was all true. I picked a great week for IE golf as it was overcast and cool all day.

This course is a bit on the tough side for a high handicapper like me but I'll go back again. Next time I'll take a camera. Staff was great, course was in great shape, and I played pretty well, for me!

Everyone should play here at least once.

Golfed here this morning, first time what a great golf course. This is by far the most scenic golf course I have ever golfed. The lay out of this course is perfect. The greens still have fertilizer on them and the fairways have a few bown spots. However.the tee boxes and the rough are looking good.Hole 14 dont forget your camera's and even if you are playing the whites or the blues this hole youmust play the blacks. Speed of play was great 4 hours. Staff is most inviting , the best 65 bucks I have ever spent....

It's a hike to get to Qok Quarry from LA but it is well worth the gas $$$

Tee boxes were in pretty good shape, as were the fairways, just a handful of trouble spots, mainly in common landing areas where golfers didn't bother to use their divot mix bottles! The greens are coming back nicely.

If I lived closer, I'd be out here a few times a week!

Played Oak Quarry on Wednesday, 4/16/08 and was very pleased with the conditon of the course. Tees, fairways, sandtraps, rough and greens were all in very good condition. My experience at Oak Quarry is that due to the extreme heat that occurs in this area they never cut the greens very short and as a result they are normally on the slow side. This was true for our round but it really did'nt take away from a great day on the course. The personnel all treat you great and the experience at Qak Quarry is 1st rate.

Oak Quarry is in really nice shape right now. The greens have recovered well from the aeration earlier...although they are not as sommoth as they could be....a little slow (compared to pure-bentgrass greens such as Angeles national or Robinson ranch) and a wee-bit bumpy - - but certainly playable. They hold all shots well and have may subtle breaks that make them a challenge.

The fairways are at that perfect late-Spring stage of being lush and carpet-like...as well as being firm and adding some extra roll to your tee-shots. I like that. Playing from the white-tees, that means backing off to a long-iron or fairway wood to play position off the tee. That's another reason I like Oak Quarry...it's not just a "tee it high and let it fly" kind of course...it makes you think your way around.

Here's the best news for anybody who has ever had an Oak Quarry golf cart run out of juice somewhere around hole 14-17 - - THEY HAVE A FLEET OF BRAND SPANKING NEW GOLF CARTS!! The old green carts are gone...and beautiful black carts have replaced them! Great GPS as a part of the price...the new carts have an automatic parking-brake that takes a little getting used to...but they are beautiful and powerful. No more calling the pro-shop for a rescue!!

Pace-of-play was....well....a little disappointing. Even for a Saturday. I hate to say it...but - we knew on the first tee that there were going to be problems. A group playing from the blue tees that had NO business being back there...and - another slow group behind them.

We called for the ranger on hole number 4 - - he didn't show up until hole number 8. We told Ranger Harry that the wait was ridiculous (on every shot...and that the group in front of us was not keeping up!) He said something amazing (and illogical) - - that it was not the group in front of us - - it was the group in front of the group in front of them.

We told him that we didn't really care WHO the problem was...but that he had better try to deal with it.

Well...he must have talked to the people in front of us...because - we noticed that they began jogging to and from their carts.

We ended up playing the back-side in a respectable two-hours...but - it still was a five-hour round!!

Overall - - a great golf course and a top-notch staff! Worth the green-fee and a definite part of my regular rotation!
