I played a round this morning, then another this afternoon, walking both times. During the first round, I was paired with another single, who quit after the first nine. Two other singles joined me for the final 3 holes of the first round; the second round I played alone. Service in the pro shop was courteous and friendly, and the women in the snack shop gave good service too. There was not any drink cart service on the course today. Combined, both rounds took just about 8 hours to complete. Tee boxes were generally level and well covered with turf. The par-3 tee boxes were pretty chewed up with divots, but it was always easy enough to find a good spot to tee the ball. Rough was the usual mixed bag, from lush, thick and penal, to thin, to bare dirt in some places. The deepest and thickest was up to 3 inches. There also seemed to be many areas impacted by burrowing animals. I had to play from greenside bunkers only twice during the day, and both had well maintained, but thin sand. Some bunkers were observed to have weeds growing within, and margins were mostly overgrown. Fairways were for the most part in very nice shape, with lush grass covering most areas, such that lies were good with balls sitting up. There were a few areas where coverage was thin, and just a few bare areas were seen. Overall, nice playing conditions in the fairways. The greens had just been aerated on Wednesday 4/13, and narrow bore holes were evident. However, there wasn't any sand on the greens. Surfaces were smooth, somewhat soft, and held well struck shots. Putts rolled true, though a little slower than I expected. In my opinion, these greens were in better condition than those on Chino Creek, which I played yesterday. As usual, I recommend this course for its value, playing conditions and walkability. Just don't expect more than the course can deliver.
