Played Fri Sept 15th at 7:08 Got out a few minutes early, 4 of us 2 riding and 2 walking. We were behind a riding 2 some and they slowed us down. POP was 3:53 but could have been so much better. Haven't played this course in 4 years. The course was a mixed bag, some tee boxes ok and level and some not, most fairways were spotty, like what ever grass grows, that is what you get, rough was mostly wild grass or weeds. Traps were very light on sand, our group had 3 balls hit green side bunkers and bounch out. The greens on the front 9 were ok, but on the back 9 they got bad with #11 really bad. Even though it was $20 walking senior I think there are better values in the area. I am not a stickler for golf stuffyness, but it does turn me off when I see guys playing in "tee" shirts.

This course is a great value for the money. The greens are in outstanding shape and roll smooth. The fairways are in spotty condition,...lush in some places, dried out in others. Play winter rules when you roll up in these and you'll be fine. The rough is in decent shape, We played them as they lied in the rough. Sand traps are in better shape than in the past. All we came across were well groomed. Some were a little thin on sand, but none of them played hard as a rock.

I was hoping to be at Boulder Oaks with everyone at the GK Event but had some other things come up. But fortunately My buddy had a tee time at El Prado that fit into my schedule so I was off!!! First this is the first time I will review a course and just for full disclosure I am not a great golfer (sucks at Golf) so hopefully this will be somewhat helpful. Here we go.. I got to the golf course at 910am for a 930am tee time (That's how I roll!!) and walked right onto the first tee!!! Hell's yeah!! the course was wide open. The one guy they stuck with us we let tee off and go on his own and never saw him again!!! The Tee boxes were in great shape and a little bushy for me but for the most part level and easy to hit from. What little fairways I actually landed in were nice. the grass was in good shape and hardly any bare spots or divots. Where I am the expert is the trees, I hit many trees, so playing from the tress I will say the rough was not too bad. It was not hard to hit out so I kinda got lucky, just had to keep it under the branches!!! I landed in 2 sand traps and I will say this was the worse part of the course!! sand was hard and the were weeds growing in one!!! Really when is there weeds at the Beach?!?! That was my bad, I shouldn't have been in there anyways!! For the front 9 the greens were really slow , a little bumpy at times but overall pretty good. They held my wedge shots in pretty good too which was a big plus for me!!! The back 9 got a lot faster and really screwed with me as I thought I figured these d%mn things out!!! Overall the greens were in good shape. We finished right at 4 hrs which for me is unheard of on the weekend and at 930am!! The Staff was great and friendly. They have a Beer cart which is awesome!!! Can't go thirsty on the golf course. I had a great time and will definitely be back.

played "Prado" Butterfield today. Planned on Sierra lakes but the winds were howling at 15 plus mph. El Prado is in very good condition right now, I guess because of the past rains we had. Fairways good, Tee boxes nice and level, greens at top notch and rolling true. Pro shop, again outstanding service (that doesn't surprise me in the least). Not bad playing conditions for $32 Senior rate with a cart.

I had low expectations about playing this course because of all the recent rains. Speaking with Dennis in the pro shop, he warned me the course was very wet. To my surprise and delight, I found the course to be very playable. I walked and did not encounter any muddy areas. Everything was green and lush as you might expect. Areas which need cutting, but that's to be expected as well.

The only disappointment was the greens, which are always the best part of the El Prado courses. They needed to be rolled as the ball kind of "wobbled" its way to the hole. Some areas worse than others. Fairways were hit or miss as was the rough. Both greenside bunkers I was in had very little sand.

I did not see any real damage to the course, but there are many areas which are roped off. But for $18 to walk on a beautiful January morning, who cares!

Always have success getting out at El Prado. Dennis is a great starter and works with you to accommodate your needs. Course was about as expected. Winter conditions, fairways thin in spots, lush in others. Thought the greens rolled fairly well, albeit they were a bit slower than I prefer. Was not in any bunkers, but they appeared OK. New sand in some of them.

This is just good basic golf at a fair price. So long as your expectations are not too high, this course will not disappoint. If you're expecting perfect conditions, this will not satisfy your needs. Quick, inexpensive, old style type golf with no frills

Got up early and played today 12/14. Actually, I couldn’t sleep so decided to just get up, go out and play. Since I hadn’t played El Prado in sometime I chose the Butterfield course today. $18 to walk. Got there early and it was still dark and also very foggy. Starter Dennis got me out and followed a twosome but never caught them. Dennis is one of the great guys/starters. No one like him and he adds a bit of class to this place. Even though foggy, I went out anyway and just tried to make the best of it. Got around in under 3 hours and had to make sure my drive felt like it went center, right or left because you couldn't see where the ball was going. Also, had to guess where the greens/pins were on approach shots. Did ok though and didn’t lose a ball. :-) By the back 9, the fog had begun to lift and could see where I was hitting. Regardless, the course was damp due to the fog but played ok. The fairways are thin but noticed they had over seeded some of them. Nice. Still, winter rules would apply here. That’s my biggest complaint about this course. Fairways just have never been right for some time. The rough was thick but a combination of grass, kikuyu and weeds. Greens were bumpy but rolled ok. Sand traps were hard pan for the most part. As I was walking off of 18 though, they were putting new sand in the green side bunkers. Great idea but seems like just deep rototilling the traps would be better? I enjoy the layout here and will look to come out again but hope one day the fairways can come back to the way they used to be.

Played 11-2-16. The best thing about El Prado is that they keep their greens in great shape. Fairways were patchy, but if you play winter golf rules that will make up for any bare patches you encounter. Sand traps are awful,...play your lob wedge without opening the blade to get out of these better. Still El Prado is a good value for the money and the pace of play is usually fast. We finished in 3 1/2 hrs with a 10am tee time.
