Played on March 31, 2007. Went down for a SD golf trip. Played Pine Glen in the morning and then played Willow Glen in the afternoon. Played twilight for $34. Fantastic deal for the course. Course was in great shape. This is an older course, so the trees were very mature. The fairways were guarded by lots of trees. The elevation changes and the dog legs really made this interesting. Water does play a role on a couple of holes including the signature #4 which has a huge elevation drop. DONT take out anything more than a 6 iron or you will hit the water. Read the review of this course before we played and it is slow, so be prepared for at least a 5 hour round. And, don't play too late because this course is in a valley, so the you might not have enough sun coming into the last few holes. Overall, the Sycuan resort is a great golfing resort 2 18's plus an 18 par 3 course. Great. If you are going down to SD to play this is a good course to pull a double round.

Played Willow Glen for first time 12/29, had a fantastic time. The course is set in a small canyon with beautiful views. The course was lush, with good tee boxes mostly flat, fairways in excellent condition, and fast greens that read and rolled true - not that I could read or roll it true. The signature 4th hole shoots down from an elevated tee box to a landing area that gently slopes down to a small lake that fronts the green. How far to hit your tee shot? A few other holes also require thought as to correct club selection rather than grip it and rip it machismo. Great pro shop, well stocked. Goood on course beverage cart coverage - saw her at least five to six times. Friday round lasted five hours, some slow groups on the course and no effective marshal. Club house bar and grill is excellent, with happy hour appetizers that can't be beat for the money. Overall, well worth the thirty minute drive from S.D. La Jolla area. I'll return for another shot at it next visit to San Diego, for sure.

This golf course is beautiful. If you want to get away from it all and have a relaxing day of golf this is the place. Tee times are spread out enough that you are not waiting at the tees nor are you holding anyone up. You feel like you are out of the city. Plus it has all the amenities that you could think of. I highly recomend that you take the time to play this course.

Played around 10 am today with great weather around 80. Course was very busy, and according to my playing partners, 2 foursomes who did not have tee times, had been inserted into the mix. Apparantly they were big spenders (losers?) at the casino, so they were comped a free round of golf. This slowed the round down a great deal - it took 1 hour to play the first 3 holes. Slowly it picked up, and we finished in about 5 hrs and 10 minutes. But it was a nice day and the course is interesting enough that 5 minutes parked in the shade every so often didn't seem too bad. Now on to the course review.

This is a course I have played many times, but not in several years. It is now owned by the Sycuan Indian tribe, but the conditions of the course are as good as I remember. The fairways were nice, a few of the tee boxes were pretty spotty and unlevel, but most were fine. The greens were soft, held iron shots well, but putting speed is on the slow side - no change from before. Once you adjust to the speed, they putt well, not too many big sloping breaks. The bunkers had plenty of nice fluffy sand, the refreshment cart came by several times, and the flowers and general appearance of the course is very well done.

The range is decent, several nice putting greens (that I should've used BEFORE the round), some practice chipping and bunker areas, and a very nice par 3 course.

Overall an enjoyable round of golf despite the slow play. I would definately come back, but would be a little leary of playing mid day on Friday through Sunday, due to the tourists and folks from the casino.

We go to Sycuan every year in June for a three day golf trip. Great place. Willow Glen is the more difficult of the two courses there. Lots of variation and changes in elevation. Great course. Greens were punched about two weeks ago but are coming back nicely. Just #2 and #4 and big holes in them, but they were almost grown back in. Not perfect greens, but not horrendous. No real rough to speak of. Wonderful place to stay and play golf.

Played on Friday, able to get on as a twosome with no problem. The fee was $60 something with a cart, not sure I would pay more than this. Greens were above average. There were some older women walking which kind of slowed down the pace but we still finished in about 4 hours 45 minutes.

Great course, with great help. I would play here every day.

Mi sh$t s going into the rough will cause you some time to find your ball. Greens were holding and manicured, in good condition considering that they were punched a couple weeks ago.
