I played with GK'er jpcali10 on a sunny St. Patty's Day at 12:30pm....we were both rocking green. :) We got a $46 rate on EZlinks which was an absolute bargain for this course. I've been playing both the par 72 courses at Sycuan for a longtime and they consistently keep the courses well maintained. The greens were smooth and very receptive to approach shots. The bunkers had excellent coverage and were filled with soft white sand. The fairways and tee boxes were good with the tee boxes being nice and level. Overall, the course was lush and green. The layout is a traditional, tree lined course which can cause problems if your drives go wayward. Hole 4 is their signature hole for good reason; it is fun to play and probably the most memorable on the course. The cart girls were around regularly and the facilities were excellent. There is a mat driving range with a couple of practice putting greens. There is even an executive course on the property. I've done the stay and play here and I'd definitely recommend it for a getaway....the accommodations are nice and the restaurant is good. This course was actually the first full length course I ever played and I'm definitely a fan of this place. However, what I wasn't a fan of were the multiple 5somes out on the course. I hate to end on a negative note but that's what I'm doing. :p

I thought the conditions were great as the fairways and greens were very nice. I played with fellow GK'er 'baomai' and both of us were very pleased with the conditions as well as the price we paid. We got an online deal for $46 on 3/17/13 (St. Patty's Day). My only gripe for the course is that we saw several five-somes ahead of us and this can't happen on a Saturday or Sunday (or any other day for that matter).

Played my second round of the day out here. Found a last-minute deal on ezlinks for $51 and also had a 20% promo code they sent out for this weekend that saved me an extra $10. So for $41, Sycuan is a hell of a deal. I was paired with a twosome and another single and we teed off right at our time (noon). The starter informed us that they had a big tournament group just go off, but there was a cushion in front of us for a few holes. Those first few holes were great as we played at an enjoyable pace. Then we caught up to the groups ahead on the 4th hole and it was excruciatingly slow after that. The groups ahead were slow, unorganized, not fixing ball marks, etc., so it was pretty annoying. The round took 5 hours exactly, which isn't great for a course of this caliber. Ran into the marshal once and he just kind of gave us a look like "What are you gonna do? It is what it is." The course was pretty jam-packed, so there probably wasn't too much he could do, but still seems like something could have been managed better as the day went on and got worse.

Other than the slow pace, the course itself was very enjoyable. I played Oak Glen last year and liked it a lot, and I know most people like Willow better, so I was looking forward to it today. The layout is great and the course is in such a nice little scenic valley. A little more "dramatic" layout than Oak Glen, but both are fantastic in my opinion. Some holes might be considered "gimmicky" by some (trees in middle of fairways and some circus-like green complexes), but it's a fun and diverse track that forces you to make strategic decisions on many shots.

For winter, the course was in good overall condition. The first few fairways were awesome. Green, lush and beautiful. Later on, they were a little less consistent with some thin/brown patches here and there and most areas near water pretty well burned out because of all the ducks, geese and coots doing what they do best. But overall, the fairways were mostly green and very, very nice for this time of year. The rough was pretty shaved down as was more dormant, brown and patchy throughout. Some areas decent and most lies were OK, just not as visually pleasing as you can normally expect here. Many of the tee boxes had been recently resodded, so a little uneven at the moment. Good sand in the bunkers and the greens were excellent all around. Other than fixing a few ball marks from the inconsiderate groups ahead, they were rolling smooth, running quick and receptive on approaches. Both the regulation courses at Sycuan are excellent (I haven't played the par-3 Pine Glen course yet) and good deals can be found online from time to time, making this a great option and worth the drive out past El Cajon.

Played Willow course at 7:20 am; Major issue was pace of play very slow (5 hr round) and we were a threesome behind another threesome with no one in front of them for several holes; course in very good shape especially considering time of year and heat, fairways/tee boxes were very green, greens in excellent condition; approximately 10 STEMP, with hardly any unrepaired ball marks; short game practice area in excellent condition.

Played in a work tournament here on Monday and the course is in pretty good shape. Its pretty hot out here so I thought everything was in pretty great shape. The fairways are certainly good and the rough is a little dormant but better around the greens. Par 3 tees were a little torn up but not as bad as some other courses I have seen. Wasn't in a bunker but they seemed decent. Greens were medium fast. This is a course that you don't need driver because there are trees which line the fairways and so placement becomes a priority over distance. Staff was great in running this tournament. I can't comment on the value since I'm not sure what the price is.

Played on SAT, 06/16/12 at Sycuan - Willow Glen. They have raised their rack rates recently, however, the course was incredible shape. My only complaint would be the greens were aerated about 2 weeks ago...and still a little on the slow side running @ 9.

Customer service is fantastic here. Everyone from the cart guys, starter, marshalls, front desk not only provided great service, but thanked us for our patronage. That's how you run a golf course guys! Fairways, rough, sand and greens in great shape! Pace of play was slow, with hackers playing from the wrong tees.

A great experience and definite recommend!

Hubby and I arrived an hour and a half early for a 11:04a.m. tee time; as it was our first time playing here. I had purchased an "I Love Golf Deals" Coupon for the course, which cost me (99$ which included Round for (2), with Cart, (2) buckets of Range balls (Note only irons on the driving range; unless like me, you can't hit your driver tooo terribly far) and the coupon also was good for (2) Chef's appetizers at the Echo Lounge. (Today we had a choice of Wings, (3) Sliders w/Blue Cheese n Spinach, or a Beef n Cheese filled Quesadilla. The food was OUTSTANDING! Excellent end of the day for sure. Carts are equipped with GPS so it made it easy to detrmine distances. The Club house recommended we play the Willow Glen course as they overseed it which resulted in more lush fairways -- very nice; an amazing course. The layout wasn't too bad - 4 tee boxes to choose from. Scenery was relaxing, featured tight fairways, mild to moderate greens (a couple were pretty wicked though) fiar amount of sand traps filled with niiiiiiiiiice white, soft sand, a couple doglegs in both directions, water hazards (mainly ponds = which I lost my ball in :( , fairways lined with mature Okas, Palms, and Pines --- a surreal feeling with hawks screeching overhead, and LOTS of waterfowl to try and miss. I was a little disappointed to see how neglectful folks were in fixing their divots on the fairways and ball marks on the greens. Just don't understand why folks can't take the two or five seconds to help keep things nice for those that follow. :( Ridiculous. Overall though (for winter season) the course conditions were Wonderful. We really enjoyed ourselves. The greens were Fast! The rough area was lush as well. And did I mention the wonderful sand traps (if the is such a thing, with lots of white sand -- which would've been perfect IF (once again) folks had spent a little time to rake the traps versus leaving their intrusive foot prints trespassed all throughout. :( Cart gal was a little slow to come around and there is only a Snack Bar at the 9th hole area, and what they had was very limited. :( Wind started to kick up around 3pm and temp started to cool a tidge; but not unbearable. Twosome we were paired up with were very nice But they were terribly slow which concerned me with the 3-some that kept closing in on us all day and got antsy to want to hit up into us. Because of a flat tire on their cart, hubby and I finished out the last 3 holes on our own.ce of Play - 4+ hours for 18 holes. Sycuan also has a 2nd 18-hole (Pines? course) and an executive type par 3 18 hole course (so total of 3/72 holes)

Overall service of the staff was fine and the clubhouse seemed to have quite a large selection of items for sale. Nice putting practice greens.

I will certainly be keeping an eye out for more fantastic golf deals.
Will be putting this one as one of my favs (even if I didn't score that great) :)

Played 11/16. Course in good condition. I think they are reseeding the fairways so it was cart path only on every hole which slows down pace of play, but still finished in about 4 hours. Bunkers were perfect...it appears they have brand new sand. A few areas under repair, but didn't effect play for my group. I enjoy playing here, but the prices aren't appealing. Very happy to play for free with a voucher I had. Not a course I would seek out on a trip to San Diego, but a good course to mix in for a local resident.

First time I've played this course. It was fantastic. Very challenging and not that long from the Silvers @6,100 yrds. Lots of dog legs or obstructions that require placement shots. Fairways were in great shape. The greens where the best I've played on in San Diego. I was very disappointing that the people in front of us seemed that it wasn't there job to fix their divots. I was fixing 3-4 on every green. Will be back for sure !!!
