Played Sunday, Jan 24th. Overall the course drained pretty well from Saturday's rain.

Given outcome of the City of San Diego agreeing to developing homes on Riverwalk Golf Course, and breaking ground to do so soon (News reports either spring or second half of 2021), we wanted to play at least once before they close.

Course was in okay shape. At $64 I thought it was a little over priced to walk since the rate did not include a cart. Course is pretty flat though so walking wasn't terrible.

GREENS: Greens are in pretty good shape. Oddly enough, you could still very much see the punch marks in the greens, so made them a little bumpy but still a decent roll. The greens were medium to slow pace, probably due to the rain, but were still on the firm side. No divots really to speak of.

TEES: Tee Boxes were thin, lots of divots and/or bare spots had you searching for a place to put a tee in the ground.

FAIRWAYS/ROUGH: Hodgepodge of thin grasses, weeds, and some bare spots. Some fairways were better than others. Sometimes you were rewarded with missing the fairway by having a better lie in the rough, sitting up. No real definitive separation cut between fairway and rough though. Only a few low spots that were roped off for puddles since the course drained well.

BUNKERS: Sand traps still no rakes, but really good shape! Even given the rain.

I wish it was just a bit cheaper for the walking rate given the conditions or just to include the cart for the rate we paid. That being said, we had a good time playing and I'm going to give it a few months post-rains and try and play one more time before they close down.

Played here Wednesday Morning 8am with 3 others. Course reminds me of links golf. Long and pretty flat. Water on a good amount of Holes and some legit par 4's. Overall I would say this course is good. I bit pricey for the shape of the fairways. But the teebox and green for sure make up for it. Wind is a factor on this course. Fun and pace of play was outstanding.

Played Riverwalk today early in the morning. Course was punched end of September and I was surprised to see no signs of it on the greens. Almost all tee boxes were moved up to the green tees. Those were a little beat up and looks like they were getting ready to move the white and blue tees back.

Fairways were typical Riverwalk, lots of fresh sod areas and most of the back nine was roped off, so not carts on those fairways. Never really had a bad spot on the fairways but nothing to special about them either. Course was a little wet in areas so be careful.

Sand looked good but didn’t play out of it so nothing I can add.

Greens were in really good shape, played at a decent speed and no signs of recent punching. Most rolled well, some were a little bumpy but ok.

If you were waiting to play because of the maintenance don’t wait any longer. Course was in pretty playable shape.

Played yesterday, Sunday, with a group of 12 of us. Teetime was 10am, POP was 4.5hrs, quite a bit of waiting, course was pretty crowded.

Teeboxes were average, fairly level, but they had quite a bit of divot damage and a mixture of grasses running through them. Didn't have much issue finding a decent place to tee it up, but just took an extra minute here and there.

Fairways were not good at all. Most of the guys in my group would bump it in the fairway, I played it down and got burned a couple of times, but oh well. They were often wet, a lot of cart path only, and just had a lot of poor lies all day.

Rough wasn't very penal, I didn't find much of it all day, but I didn't have any problems with it.

Traps were just fine, I found two fairway bunkers. I didn't hit any greenside bunkers, so I can't speak on those. The fairway bukers were easy to hit from.

Greens were definitely the highlight. About the only thing on the course that didn't have any complaints. They were very receptive and rolled very well. Moderately fast, definitely watch out on the down hillers. A solid 8/10 on the greens for sure ,where everything else was just 5/10 at best.

Saw the beverage cart a few times. Snack bar open. Bar aread closed. $7.25 for a Sculpin can is a little steep, so beware.

We paid $65 with a cart through the golf group that I played with, I think they call themselves Mesa Golf Club? They have a game every two weeks, I will play with them more often for sure, great group of golfers and a pleasure to play with.

Played Monday morning in a annoying drizzle for most of the round. Course is still in good shape. Tee boxes were a little beat up and they had closed some boxes and combo the white and blue. Fairways were good some brown spots but mostly green. Still have a few fairways closed to carts. Rough wasn’t really an issue maybe 1-2 inches and you could find your ball. Sand was good. You could tell they were maintaining the sand well throughout the course.

Greens were good. A little shaggy but rolled well at a good pace. They have inserted a ball remover tool. This way the ball goes to the bottom of the cup and you lift up the lip with your putter/foot and it pulls out the ball. It’s a nice change to the pool noodles and I can easily see it coming commonplace for golf courses.

Used the golf moose deal and it was a good price. Speed of play was great at 3:45. Would definitely play it again, hopefully without any stupid drizzle!

This review may be interpreted by some as comical, but it is dead serious. Today, I drove by Riverwalk and it looked country club lush. In the past, I have mentioned this track as my go to course. In the past, the greens have been so challenging on Mission/Presidio/Friars. In the past, Friars has been my least favorite (9) and remains third on the list of (9) to play. In the past, Presidio in the late afternoon breeze is a challenge. In the past, Riverwalk has poured me a cold IPA included in the price of a round. I will be playing this course soon and hope I enjoy it as I have in the past. Play well my friends.

Played Monday in the morning, check in was easy and got out a few minutes early. Played in about 3:45. Course is in better condition than last time I played. Not as lush as I thought it might be but good overall conditions. Greens have healed nicely, a little bumpy but good speed.

Tee boxes were good and easy to hit from. Fairways were green for the most part. Still a few of them roped off but not an issue if you walk. Sand was great and in good shape. Greens had a lot of ball marks and were bumpy but rolled well at a medium pace.

The only thing I didn’t like were the pool noodles were a little to big. They need to be cut about 1/2 inch so the ball falls a little. Some were too high and would just push the ball out.

$41 to walk was a little high but I would play again at the rate.

Course is in good shape. Looks like they are doing some serious work to make the course better. Tee boxes were in good shape and easy to hit from and level. Fairways were the weakest part but much better than last time I played. I was in a couple of fairway bunkers and they were in great shape. Easy to get the club on the ball. Greens were in good shape, a little bumpy for my taste but looked good and rolled faster than you thought. Looks like they have added some new sand to some of the green side bunkers. Nice white sand looked good and played well.

I enjoyed my round and was happy to see the course in good shape. If you can use the coupon it is a great deal. Even without the couple I would play again. Hope they continue with the improvements!

Played Sunday the 29th. Course is VERY WET still. Looked great from the Freeway but this course needs another week to dry out. Standing water in almost all the bunkers and a few lakes where fairways normally are. Hard to find areas in some of the fairways that were dry enough to hit off of.
Greens were fast and in fairly good shape and were by far the best part of the course and the customer service was good and I was playing golf but not worth the green fee right now and hopefully we don't get more rain because this course can't take it. I would give it a week to dry out and then a week for the staff to get the course back into some playable shape.
