I know Cascata will set you back $300+ but this is without a doubt one the very best golfing experiences you will ever have. First, the customer service rivals any other course, anywhere. They treat every customer like you're the owners son and you get the the "red carpet" service from when you get out of the car to when you leave. Ok, to the golf: The course is immaculate. The greens are Augusta fast (literally, they were running 13 the day I played), my caddy said a handful of tour pros use the Cascata greens to get ready for the Masters.. enough said there.

The POP is a little slow, there's lots of elevation changes and the course plays quite difficult so most golfers spend a lot of time looking for balls in the desert. They do warn you about that prior to the round, but it's still tough to take a 5 hour round.

If you don't listen to your caddy, you are an idiot. They are world class and will shave 3-5 strokes from your score if you listen to them (just don't beat them up for slicing one 50 yards into the desert).

All in all, it's a great course & outstanding experience. If you call yourself an avid golfer, Cascata must be on your bucket list.

Joined sixpez for his 500th course splurge here on Sunday, 8/24. I've been thinking about it for a few days now while finishing up the rest of my Vegas vacation, and I'm quite certain I can say this was the best golf experience of my entire life. Between the extraordinary service, the beautiful course, outstanding layout and incredible conditions, it was more than a great round of golf – it was a truly unforgettable day. I very rarely pay anywhere near this much for golf, but I don't regret it in the least.

Conditions were perfect. Not "perfect for late August," but perfect for any day of the year. The layout is constantly interesting and often awe-inspiring.

Having now played Cascata, I can't help but feel this course gets overlooked among premier Las Vegas golf courses. You hear a lot about Shadow Creek due to its bold, spare-no-expense creation out of raw desert and Wynn gets a lot of acclaim for being a great course right on The Strip (I've never played either), but Cascata is undoubtedly a more quintessential Southern Nevada/desert golf experience than either of those seemingly more famous courses. I'm almost certain neither of those courses come anywhere near the amount of elevation changes Cascata offers. Add to that the phenomenal service from the moment you arrive at the property to when your clubs are packed back into your trunk for you, and Cascata deserves to be at the very pinnacle of Las Vegas golf.

Well, today was a special milestone for me... my 500th course played. I know that's nothing compared to some GKers, but I'm working my way up the list! Cascata turned out to be the choice to mark the occasion, and I was happy to share it with my good buddy, Itslikeimsayin, who also happened to be in Vegas this weekend with his family. Special thanks to JohnnyGK for helping negotiate a great summer rate for this special milestone to also feature on my blog. $100 is hard to beat for a course that is upwards of $500 in the peak season. We also had caddie fees ($25 a player) and tip (recommended $25 minimum per player, but we pitched in a little extra for our great caddie, Brian). Also, if you play here, be sure to stuff your wallet with plenty of small bills as there are a lot of tips you'll be giving out to the valet guy, cart attendants, etc. It's all worth it because this is one of the most first-class golf experiences of my life, right up there with Sea Island in Georgia. From the moment you pull into the gate that's like a secret entry just off the highway where the 93 and 95 meet, you know it's going to be something special. You don't get to see the course at all from the big, beautiful clubhouse, but you do get to see the gorgeous driving range and the waterfall that runs all the way from the hillside behind it down and into/under the clubhouse itself. They greet you and lead you to the guest locker room, where they have a personalized metal nameplate on your locker for the day (a souvenir you get to take home). They have coffee, muffins and fruit out for a pre-round snack. Then you go down to the cool indoor cart staging area next to the indoor water feature (like something from Disneyland). It's all a cool, top-notch presentation. We played as a twosome with a 7:42 tee time behind a couple of foursomes. We ultimately played through both of those groups (the caddies did all the arranging to remove any awkwardness) and finished in around 3 hours, 15 minutes. Sadly, this is one experience you really don't want to rush that much, but it was great having the course all to ourselves after we played through everyone. I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of conditions this late in the summer, just a couple weeks before they close for overseeding and maintenance. If this is the "offseason," I can't imagine what this place looks like in the peak season. It was picture perfect and just about immaculate the whole way through. Spectacular on every level. No real need to elaborate. The course itself is a fun and challenging design (with a few easy birdie holes thrown in to keep you encouraged). Basically, every hole plays either straight uphill or straight downhill. Only a couple of the par-3s play at a level elevation, but everything else is up and down. There are a few holes that will blend together with that repeating pattern, but that's just nit-picking a little bit. What it does result in is a spectacular view on every single hole. Either you look back from behind the green on an uphill hole to see the expansive valley below or you are looking at it framing your tee shot on the downhill holes. The rugged desert surroundings are great with all the rock formations. As is common with Rees Jones courses, most holes (especially the uphill ones) require you to fly your ball to the green. Some of the downhill holes do have run-up areas, but on most you have to carry to the green to find the putting surface. Gorgeous course, perfect weather with surprisingly mild temperatures all day, incredible staff, top-notch facilities. Would I pay $500 to play here? Not me personally other than a really special occasion or if I just won big in a casino. However, for the high rollers they are trying to cater to, it's the first class experience they expect. Even in the summer when you can get more reasonable rates, they don't skimp on any aspect of service or conditioning, so for us regular folks, this is the time of year to visit Cascata and feel like a king for a day!

This is my favorite course in Vegas. I understand it is pricey, but you pay just a tad more to go first cabin. I used my Golf Card, called them, identified myself as a Golf Card Member and they gave me a price of $100 on Friday morning prime time. It is so good, I mean everything, playing conditions, food, beverage cart service, bunkers, fairways, rough and the greens roll like shaved velvet. Just love Cascata....

Played Cascata for the second time Wednesday, 12/7 and I have to say it was the most beautiful setting I have ever experienced on a golf course. The course was immaculate. The weather was perfect. The afternoon sunlight and shadows combined with the spectacular surrounding “colorful” rock outcroppings, waterfalls, creeks, rugged mountain terrain and scenic vistas is stunning. The ritzy clubhouse with vaulted atrium with interior waterfall is equally impressive. The food in the restaurant is delicious and affordable. The course provides a full practice facility. The service is simply the best I’ve experienced. Right now everything is very green and lush. December – February provided cooler temps kick-in the course will experience some dormancy but will be in great shape. The peak conditions to play the course are in April, May, late October and November. Early Winter and early Summer are fantastic too. When out on the course you need to bring every aspect of your game to score well. Be accurate off the tee as the fairways are narrow. Make sure you listen to your caddie because there are MANY elevation changes and tricky breaks on the greens that unless you’ve played the course quite a few times, it will be very hard to judge distance and putting. Tune up your sand game because the green complexes are loaded with bunkers plus there are many strategically placed fairway traps on every hole. Lastly, bring a camera because you’ll want to take photos of just about every hole. I snapped quite a few pictures and will post them this weekend. Put this course on your bucket list. Highly recommended.

Was in Vegas for a day and played the Wynn Golf Course on 5/17; got to head back to Vegas this past weekend; won some money in the casino and (so happened to have) had my golf clubs in the car... Why not spend your winnings before giving it back to the casino right? That's exactly what I did!

I had previously had read JohnnyGK's review and I agree, I'll save the play by play for your own finding; but the Course itself has an almost exclusivity feel to it. You drive about 30 mins out of Vegas towards Boulder City; exit the freeway where there's nothing around; go up a street that has a dead end sign before driving up it and greeted with a gate and call box - "Can I help you?" "I've got a x tee time" "Welcome to Cascata"

I self parked my car under a tree and a staff member brings a cart down to pick me up and said if I wanted, they can valet the car if I want and would have my clubs in the car at the completion of my round. You're led up to the clubhouse into what I can only describe as similar to the stage area of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland! It's the indoor staging area with the carts and big double wooded doors that open once you drive your cart close enough to the door; There's a water feature that starts from the top of the mountain past the driving range, down and around the putting green and THROUGH the atrium type clubhouse.

Conditions were excellent on Sunday 5/22. Word of advice, listen to your caddy - Those greens tend to have pretty huge breaks! Play smart on your approach and be below the hole when possible.

Everything is an "experience!" So make sure you've got time to enjoy.

I was in Vegas for a couple days and decided to make some time to play Cascata on a Friday afternoon. Short Version: Played 18 holes in 3 hours on an amazing course at an amazing facility and was treated like a King.

I heard stories about the grand “experience” Cascata is for years and the facility met/exceeded those legendary tales.

The Cascata Experience Rundown:

1. Pull up to the gate to the private driveway, ring the call button, a polite person comes on the line, welcomes you and the gate opens.

2. You’re immediately taken by the scenery driving up the driveway and arrive at the top to a magnificent clubhouse. Three attendants are awaiting you, one to park your car, one to take your bag and the other to escort you inside through the grand doors.

3. Once in the clubhouse, you’re awestruck by the atrium design/open floor plan featuring a strong stream/waterfall running through the center of building. The materials and furnishing of the place are very high class Mediterranean (actually Cascata means waterfall in Italian). At this point your escort informs you about your locker and dining options.

4. At the locker room, its similar to a high end country club all the way down to your name being engraved on the faceplate of your private locker (incidentally my locker was right next to two hall of fame NFL players coming out to play the next day).

5. From there make you way back to the dining area, grab a window table and be treated stellar food/service (get the french fries!).

6. Time to warm-up, the Cascata staff will direct you down stairs to an enclosed area where your single cart awaits with two attendants. You’ll be informed of the playing conditions, board your cart (kind of like getting on a Fantasyland ride at Disneyland), and pull up to two closed wooden door that will automatically open. At that point you’ll become awestruck again by the scenery. In all likelihood you and your group will be the only ones warming up on a meticulous large practice area having that “kid in candy store” feeling. There are two large putting greens (one surrounded by streams), chipping area and driving range (pyramid balls, green complex targets, mountain setting, waterfall stream trickling flowing – the works).

7. Tee it up (when you’re ready – no rushing). I’d rather not go into a hole by hole description because it would ruin the surprise. I will say Cascata is the finest layout and golf experience I’ve ever had top to bottom. Instantly one of my favorite tracks that is beautiful, challenging, fair, inspiring and peaceful. In the words of the course designer Rees Jones “If there were ever a course that fit the term “desert linksland, " Cascata would be the place. Every hole is framed with some of the most beautiful high desert mountain terrain and deep canyon walls you will see. You’ll never see another golf hole from your hole and each hole features natural rock outcroppings. Most holes have man-made water falls streams placed in strategic positions. There are many elevated tees with breath taking views of the Mojave desert that give the course an oasis feel like no other I’ve played (having played many of Las Vegas, Palm Springs and high-end courses in Scottsdale – this place tops all those experiences of mine). The service visited us every 4 holes and the course was in near immaculate shape…lush and super fast greens – don’t be above the hole - I hear October is best time to play it. The only thing our group did not experience this day that is part of the Cascata experience is a caddy. I understand they are exceptional with superb knowledge of the course. The Cascata staff member I played with told me that the caddies are one of the most praised and well rated aspects in surveys.

8. Value. Cascata used to be a $500 experience you could have only if you were staying at a partner hotel. Now with the economy anyone can play Cascata as low a $325. I think at that price this course has to make many golf lovers bucket list. Everyone has a different take on what 3 C notes are worth but in my mind this is worth it.

Highly recommended.
