Golf Moose ran a voucher for a MFAD and I got to play this private course right before it ended. $130 for a twosome. Pancake flat layout that runs thru a housing development. Wind, water, and sand are the major defenses for this course. I played a blue/white combo that was 6316 and a fair test. We caught a 75-degree day with very little wind (very rare) so it played easier than I was expecting. The wind can really howl out here and there is water on every single hole.
I enjoyed the layout; houses surround the course but don't really come into play. The course was in perfect country club shape, good lies, plenty of fairway roll, fluffy sand in all the numerous bunkers and smooth fast greens.
The staff were top notch and very accommodating. We played in the afternoon and had the course to ourselves. If Golf Moose runs another special next year, I highly recommend checking it out.

Very scenic and challenging golf course about a 1/2hr outside of Vegas. Course was in fabulous shape and in a nice setting. Bring your sand game, tons of traps all over the course filled with white fluffy sand. I'm pretty sure it is always windy out here, but a lot of the holes are down wind.
Because of the wind on the first hole, I played the white tees which topped out at 6,100.I didn't play great but definitely could have played the blues at 6,500 since the fairways gave a lot of roll and plenty of the holes played downwind. Played the Desert Hawk/Coyote Run combo as the Eldorado nine was closed for aeration. When that heals, they will probably punch another nine.
That lead to my only real complaint, I think it's always busy here but with only two nines the round took well over 5 hours. No marshall and the group in front of us was at least two holes behind. On the plus side I only found that out by calling the club house. Each hole is a distinct entity, and you really only see the hole in front of you, very cool layout.

One of the older courses in Vegas. (1938) Very flat tree lined local muni. 6,300 from the tips, with not a lot of trouble. Staff were super accommodating and very nice. Course was in very good muni shape. Greens were smooth and plush, so they held shots but were still medium speed instead of slow. Good sand in all the traps and I never encountered a bad lie. I teed off at 5PM and bounced around, otherwise I think this course is always jam packed. Very walkable course but I think even the out of towner afternoon walking rate is $65. One or two 2PM glofnow hot deals seem to be available in the $25-$50 range and it still might be a long round. Worth it if you can get a deal.

One of three courses in the Summerlin community. A solid, scenic course that stretches to 6,700 from the tips. I played the 6242 white tees, and it was a fair challenge. The course was in very good shape all around. The greens were medium speed and gave me trouble all day. Some really nice mountain views really added to the layout. Some deals available on golf now make this a great choice as Vegas golf is pretty expensive. Without the deal this place can cost over $150.

3,700-yard par 58 executive on the western side of town. Played a morning warm up round after flying in. $42 w/cart a bit steep for an executive but it's very walkable, not sure what that does to the price. Only 3 par fours and 15 par threes of varying lengths. Fun layout in decent shape except for the bunkers. I wasn't in any, but they looked mostly uncared for and lacking sand. Too bad because they were well designed and added to the layout.

Good warm up course not far from the airport. Almost 4,000-yard par 60 executive course in very good shape. I teed off at 5:00pm and played in an hour by bouncing around, the marshal was very nice and helpful as I had a flight to catch. Otherwise, I think this course gets a lot of play so it might be a 3-hr. round. $33 W/cart for a sporty course with a decent mix of holes, 6 short par fours that you can still hit driver on.

Played on Wednesday in the Golf Moose outing. Very nice old school, parkland layout. Course was super green and lush, perhaps a little too lush on the greens. They were a little on the slow side, but they rolled just fine, maybe they were growin em out for an aeration. Surprisingly the greens seemed to roll out on approaches and chips adding to the difficulty.

We played the 6,256 yd white tees and the course was flat out tough. Not a ton of elevation change, however a steady breeze, gnarly rough and a zillion trees made for a solid challenge. I'm a pretty straight hitter and I wasn't in a lot of fairways or on a lot of greens in regulation. Most holes are super tight, and tree lined, I finally scoped one and it was 30 yards wide and that wasn't an anomaly. The rough wasn't too long but everybody struggled with it and if you weren't in the rough you were in the trees. Did I mention tight?

Played with fellow GKers Ron, Phillip, and our host Johnny, great group to play with as it was a five-hour round that never felt like a slog. Tee boxes, sand traps, and fairways were all in perfect condition and the four par threes were all different lengths. The outing was less than a $100 and worth the price. Thanks again to JohnnyGK for a great event and I definitely recommend checking it out the next time.

With Nick's prodding and his raving review, I changed my plans and played a twilight round here the day before we played the Mountain. This layout was built later and is much more spread out over the vast property. I got lost many times and the ride from the ninth to the tenth made me want to stop and take a nap. I teed off at almost 3, and not knowing what was up ahead of me I raced around and didn't fully appreciate the subtleties of this course. Greens here were even firmer and faster than the mountain course if that's even possible. Maybe slightly less scenic than the mountain but still a great course and a great test. I was truly humbled and can't wait to have another crack at it. Fairways are wide, bunkers are deep, and the greens are large and sloped. Mountain and cacti views abound.

Played slightly better here but that was because I was rushing and was probably generous with gimme's. Plenty of three putts could've been four putts. Other course conditions were similar to the mountain, just perfect. Not many folks out there and ended up playing in 2hrs.
Can't thank Nick enough for his recommendation and his hospitality. Highly recommend.

Got to meet and tee it up with fellow GKer Nickesquire on his home course. A nicer person you couldn't find, and we had a great time. The company was good enough that we set our own pace, but the course wasn't crowded on a picture-perfect day. Course was immaculate all the way around, not a blade of grass out of place. Been a while since I played a Fazio, but I remember his layouts being much more benign. These courses ate my lunch. 6,300 from the gold tees and it was a beast.

Little fairway roll due to the overseed made the course play very long for me. A lot of driver, wood, wedge. The greens were absolutely impossible. Super firm and super-fast led to very few up and downs or par saves, unfortunately for me that's my whole game. Then there were the greens themselves, large, sloped, lightning with ginormous mind-bending breaks. Without Nick as my sherpa guide I might still be out there putting. What? No? Really? Cmon? made up a lot of our conversation.

Stayed at the resort and this time of year deals abound, not cheap but reasonable. I would love to play this course when it's firm and fast. The greens are all pretty open in front and I think it would play much differently. I demand a rematch; hope I get to play it again with Nick. Highly recommend.

Upon check in both courses looked like a golf factory, however we never saw the group in front of us on the Conquistador course and finished in 3 1/2 hours. On the other side of the same property is the Canada course. Maybe even slightly more scenic than the other course it was in much worse shape. More recently out of overseed it was in mediocre shape at best and quite scruffy, a polar opposite of the Conquistador. I Liked the layout, but it needs a few weeks.

Picturesque layout in excellent shape. Got a $35 hot deal during the week. Greens were smooth and medium fast. Tees, sand, and fairways all well above average. Emerald fairways, tawny rough, and brown mountains what more could you ask for. Some elevation changes forced carries and desert areas make for a solid challenge. Good resort course and a nice way to ease into Tucson golf before playing some of the harder offerings. One of the more affordable options in the area. Highly recommend.

Maybe it was the low expectations, but I really liked this course in the middle of nowhere. Nice staff, good food and an unexpected treat on the the drive to Arizona. Conditions were solid all the way around. Fun layout with some nice views and good elevation change. $29 after 1:00 during the week was well worth it, I had the place to myself and was in Arizona before dark.
