Played on Friday, 7/2, with a 10:30ish tee time with the crew from Cocky & Lucky Social and Golf Club.. Full disclosure: I have a real love/hate relationship with this course, I want to hate it, but then I play and end up loving it. My 1st time at this course was a bad experience (years ago) and it has changed for the better.

Range is great. All grass and is included with a small basket (about 30 balls). They also have Trackman for extra if you want to see the numbers.

Staff is awesome here. I was the 3rd to arrive and our carts were at the range. The attendant carried my clubs to the range while I was checking in and grabbing a Bloody Mary (it was ok, no olives though). On the 2nd tee, a marshal pulled up with some cold towels for those of us that forgot our cool towels. While we didn't have the Instagram famous drink cart girl, the drink cart was around twice per 9 and the marshals were out keeping everything in line. I passed on hitting Blaze 19, which has incredible pizza and some nice taps. For a Friday late morning, we finished in under 4 hours, allowing a single to play through around 14. Pace was incredible.

For the start of summer, the course is in incredible shape. Minus some thin spots in downhill areas, the course is in prime shape. A few canted tee boxes, but all lush and easy to tee. Fairways were lush, but the raised greens caused some thin areas which were really soaked today. Rough is a bit rough. Bunkers are really good, with some heavy sand but better than most Vegas courses. About 1-2 inches along the fairways. Around the greens, it was kinda crab grass like which caused some issues. I have no problems with it, hit the fairway and green and there's no issue. Greens rolled about a medium speed, but there were some bumps on a few putts. There may be some Kikuya mixed in.

I do love Chimera and outside my first round there, I have had a great time there. Great food. Incredible staff. I wish they flip the 9s back as 7-9 is such a better finish on this Ted Robinson Jr design (and 10 is such a better opener with the Pegasus at the back of the boxes). My main issue is price, as they are way above most local places of the same caliber. We paid $39 after 10am, which is about right, but $75+ for prime spots is a bit high. If it wasn't such a drive, I was play here more often.

Played on 6/18 with a 6ish tee time. Wow, its been some time since I've been on my home course and I've missed it. While they push themselves as a resort course, AP has a very locals feel to it. Pro shop and F&B staff are super friendly and on point.

Course is in better shape than some other in the same price range. Tee boxes need some work but are in good shape. Fairways are lush, but the early morning time meant some wet/soaked areas. Bunkers are typical for Vegas, a bit crusty, some pebbles, and thin. Greens were the slowest I've seen in some time here. They looked a bit fuzzy, maybe just need a cut to get them in shape.

Overall, I'm never disappointed at AP. Mountain is the more challenging of the 2 courses, but the par 3s are not memorable. The finishing 2 holes on both 9s are challenging. Worth a look.

Finished my SoCal golf orgy with the GK Plays on Sunday, 6/6. As with every GK event I've played, it was a fun round with John, Elijah, and Andrew. Olivas definitely plays to the environment, with overcast skies and a strong onshore breeze. While trees are not usually on "links" courses, they fit in here, offering a bit of challenge on drives and approach shots. I find it incredible this is a city owned course. Absolutely great conditions and a tough test. Whoever set the holes in the morning had a rough night and took it out on us, Sunday tournament pins all day, very challenging.

Tee boxes were mostly leveled with little amount of divots. Fairways were lush with no thin areas. Bunkers were filled with beach like sand that fits the area. Rough was gradual, thinner and more natural as you leave the fairways. Greens were incredible, very undulating, and medium speed. I would be scared if they got them rolling faster.

I haven't played Olivas in 10 years and had few memories, but wow, what a course. I can see why it gets so much play compared to others in the area. While the course may need a real clubhouse, I rather they pump the money into the course. If I was a local, I would love the course and can handle sitting outside after the round, enjoying a cold adult beverage.

Played on Saturday, 6/5, with an 1p tee time. I arrived a little early and immediately fell in love with this place. I sat on the patio, just feet from the 1st tee, while enjoying a drink while soaking in the mountain and course views. It has an old-school feel to it and I could see myself playing here a lot if I was a local.

Course was in really good shape. Tee boxes were pretty good, with some divots on the par 3s. Fairways were lush with some roll. The rough changed from a little thick near the fairway to just natural as you got farther away, so some hardpan spots way away from the lushness. Bunkers were outstanding when compared to the thin desert ones I'm use to playing. The greens were faster than I was ready for, but consistent with the practice green near the clubhouse. They rolled smooth but had some ball marks.

I loved the design of the course. I found it an easy walk. Classic feel, tree lined, and some large fringe areas that start 30 yards short of the green. It took me a couple holes to realize the almost false front appearance as the it's cut to green height. The only bad part of the course was the pace. We started about 20 minutes late, and slogged to a 5+ hour round.

Played on Friday, 6/4, with a 11:20 tee time and joined itslikeimsayin on a GolfMoose deal for $50 with replay. Unfortunately due to the 5 hour round, the replay was out of the question by the time we made the turn. I arrived early and enjoyed an incredible breakfast burrito while overlooking the beautiful 9th green area.

Course plays better than it looks. The Bermuda fairways are coming back, with spots of tan and green. Bunkers had some light fluffy sand. Greens were faster than they appeared and ran pretty smooth. Rough was variable, but most thin and just above fairway length.

Like Mark, I want to like this course more than I did. I keep describing it as quirky. There's way too many blind shots that if you don't know where the group in front of you is at, you're hitting it over their heads or worse. There are some beautiful views and some fun holes, but you definitely need a few rounds or a local to know where to hit it.

Played National twice in the past week, Thursday 6/3 at 6:10a and Tuesday 6/8 after 3p. $60 in the early morning and $29 super twilight. Pace was great for both rounds, I walked as a 3 early in about 3:20 and rode as a 3 in about the same.

Course conditions were about the same, outside the water on the course in the early morning. Tee boxes were level with very little damage. Fairways were lush and the rough was about 2-3 inches. Bunkers had some of the best sand in Vegas, beach-like, heavy when wet and thinner dried out. The greens have issues with spots of dead areas. They placed the holes away from the areas, but occasionally had to putt through it.

Service was easy. Bar was open early and late, with great service and prices. Easy check-in and cart guy met me the in parking lot to load the clubs.

I love National and it screams Old Vegas. Reserved placards on the bar for Frank, Sammy, and Dean. Course is tree lined but pretty wide open with some tough par 3s and par 5s. Only down part is the neighborhood surrounding the course has suffered some as the town as grown, however, I think its a good Vegas option.

Played on Wednesday, 6/2, with Famed02 with a 7:15 tee time for $60. Revere had a tourney out on Concord and it seemed to keep everyone away as Lex was pretty empty. Let a 2some jump ahead of us on 1, had another 2some pass us on 4, and yet another 2 pass on 10, finished just a shade over 4.

Conditions: Tee boxes were in good shape. Rough was variable, just over fairway in some spots, thick and nasty in others. Sand was ok, typical desert and consistent for Revere. Fairways were a bit interesting. Some spots of thin or dirt areas, but mostly lush green grass. Greens were ok, with an occasional brownish super thin area. The big issue was unfixed ball marks, which is a problem at Revere. With so much local play, I'm surprised by the amount, especially early in the morning.

Service was pretty good. Drink cart was racing around and saw us about 5 times through the round. Bar service when we checked in was a bit slow, I think only one guy was working the room and the bar and it took a few minutes to get served, however, he gave our drinks the attention they needed and didn't rush them.

When it comes to Revere, I'm definitely TeamConcord. Lexington just doesn't fit my eye and I'm uncomfortable on a few tees. Lex does have some nice short par 4s and #2 is a great go-for-it par 5, but the par 3s are just eh. For the price, I was happy with it.

Played on Memorial Day, Monday, 5/31. I was able to join my buddy's teachers group on a busy day. Even on a very busy day, we finished in exactly 4 hours with waiting on a majority of tee boxes.

Conditions were interesting considering what I usually experience here. Tee boxes were in great shape. The rough is up in some areas and short in others, definitely not high enough to stop balls from rolling into the ever-present "ditch" running down the right of all but 3 holes. Bunkers looked good but I was not in 1 all day and didn't hear any complaints from the others. As also, the greens were incredible. Smooth and medium fast, and living up to their reputation as the "Best Greens in Vegas." The paspalum (same as Kiawah) greens have a different feel to them, look thick, and is difficult to leave a ball mark. The fairways were the only issue. Every hole had a spot or 3 where it was thin or hard-pan, but most had 90% or so coverage. It seems the paspalum has started creeping away from the greens and into the fairways, mostly around the greens. Chipping on it is a different feel than Bermuda or Rye.

Service was great. Super friendly pro shop, bar/grill, and outdoor staff. Drink cart was around twice and the marshal was around 5-6 times. Marshal carried a large cooler of water bottles, which is nice as I decided to walk and he kept checking on me.

Out at the home course on Sunday, 5/30, with a 7:15a tee time. Joined by John_T and a couple of buddies for a fun round. Met in the parking lot by a cart barn guy who grabbed the clubs and staged them at the carts. Fast and easy check-in, loaded the cart and off to the range. Finished just a few under 4, never waiting and never pushed.

The range has a new mat design with lots of forgiveness underneath and raised rubber tees on every station. Enough room to handle 2 courses with full tee times. Large practice green by the cart barn and another by the starter. Only complaint, they don't allow carts to drive the 75 yards to the range and must park near the practice green, either to leave your bag unattended or shag it up to the range.

Course is in really great shape heading into the summer. Tee boxes were nice, except for a couple of the par 3s were pretty beat up from overuse. Fairways were lush and did not provide the roll out they had a few months ago, but in great shape. Bunkers were decent, but in better shape than some bunkers for me. Not thin, just heavy sand. Rough has been grown up which makes me think they are about to have a big tournament here. I was saved from running off into the desert a couple times thanks to the thick stuff. While the greens did not show any signs of aeration in the last 3-4 weeks, they were medium speed and not as fast as they have been in the past.

Drink cart was around 3 times with some specials. We had lunch at the grill afterwards, but the advertised smoker was not fired up this weekend. Enjoyed a nice lunch on the patio with some decent prices, just a tad disappointed in the service.

Played Tuesday, 5/25, with a 6:30a tee time with Famed02, Kevbig and Jeff. Never saw the 2some ahead of us after 1 and cruised to a very enjoyable 3:30ish round. Felt like it was just us and the occasional drink cart.

The attention you get from the staff is what you should expect from a Vegas resort course. Carts were loaded and ready to go, easy check in, and fast service in the bar/grill prior to the round. The upgraded carts come with a couple bottles of water and GPS.

Course is in really good shape as the Bermuda comes out of dormancy and is starting to get thick. Tee boxes level and lush. Rough was about 1-2 inches, just above fairway heights in many areas. Bunkers were good, with some heavy sand, a couple were still wet from the early morning watering. The greens were punched about a week ago but look farther along than that, by the weekend they should be rolling fast after a fresh cut.

Reflection Bay is one of my favorites to play, challenging and fun at the same time. Course is about a week or so from being in prime shape, just ahead of the GK event.

This Desert Willow is an executive course (par 60) in far southeast Henderson, is part of the Sun City McDonald Ranch community, with views of the mansions overlooking DragonRidge.

Famed02 handled the check-in, but the outside staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The starter switched up the order to allow us as a 2 to go out ahead of a 4. You would think that's common sense thinking but it rarely happens. Drink cart was around about 4-5 times.

Course has a large driving range, with mats during the week and grass on Friday-Sunday. They have a pretty big putting green with elevation changes and a short game area set up for 75 yards and in and bunkers.

The greens are the stars of the course. Firm and fast, and glass like smooth. They were tricky to read, breaks that don't break and breaks you can't see. Fairways were ultra-lush. The bunkers looked great, but had about 2 inches of loose sand on top. The tee boxes were the weak spot but expected for a short course with 12 par 3s. There were many set near the edge causing some uneven stances.

If I lived within 20 minutes of here, I would probably be here 5 of 7 days. Excellent facilities and the opportunity to get in a fast round. We played in just over 2 1/2 hours, and that was waiting on the first 6 holes before they let us pass. The course is wide with plenty of elevation changes. Driver can be easily used on 5 of 6 par 4s, and you can gamble with it on 18 with a thin landing area and water on the right. Houses are along the left of most holes but are non factors. Water comes into play on 3 and some local knowledge is needed to know where.

Played on Sunday, 5/23 with a local monthly tournament. Staff was great and ready with the carts prepped and a couple bottles of water in the cooler. We just needed to load and go.

Driving range is huge with all grass stations. Large chipping and bunker area with 2 greens. The putting green was in horrible shape with a large area of hardpan dirt, which was premonition of things to come.

The tournament was a shotgun start and we got to our hole to find the tee box sprinklers in full force. Staff was cutting the hole before us and stopped the mower and looked, but when i raised my arms and pointed to the sprinkler he just moved on. We teed off while trying to avoid the sprinklers, which did not go well for some of us.

I can say the tee boxes were mostly lush and the holes you can see from the cool patio area, over looking the 16 tee, look great. The fairways, especially 2 and 3, were in bad shape, with large areas of dead/dirt. Bunkers had a very thin layer of sand before hard dirt. Many of the holes had areas of just hardpan dirt, mostly along the fringe, however, 14 had a large area on the front of the green, which is where they placed the hole. Many putts just bumped and bounced and were very inconsistent.

Right now, I could not recommend this course unless you're paying some discount rates.
