Played a couple weeks ago. It'll be hard to find another public course with as much grass since the drought has been brutal this year. That said, there is mostly grass on the fairways, tee boxes have grass for most, greens are in pretty good shape. Pace of play however is brutal at 5 hours on the average. It's a quirky course with some short par 3's and 4's and funky par 5's. Wind can be killer on the back in the afternoon on some of the holes. A lot of hackers here so be aware of your surroundings.

Played Sunday afternoon. They had a tent set up where the old #1 blue tee used to be with some food available (hot dogs, etc.) along with some tables to sit and eat. The check in at the temporary pro shop (a trailer) was quick and smooth. The course is is good shape, especially the fairways. The greens were nice, medium-fast, but slightly bumpy. The bunkers had nice sand, the best shape I've seen in years. POP was slightly over 4 hours, with good spacing between tee times. One of the more enjoyable, reasonably priced public courses in the area. Recommend.

Played this AM. Course is in really nice shape at the moment. Due to the fire in May they are now operating out of a converted storage container. So no restaurant and only portable bathrooms next to damaged clubhouse. Tee boxes were all fine. Fairways had good coverage, lies and roll out all round. Very little rough and what is there was all playable (there are many OB areas adjacent to many fairways). Water in play on several holes as well (3, 11, 14, 16). Bunkers were all playable and had rakes. Greens are in nice shape and chip/putt, hold/release shots and have good speed (8/9). Fast easy and welcoming check in. POP was 3 H. Sr rate w cart $39. Walking rate of $24. Recommended.

Hit SDCGC as a threesome on Friday 8/23, teeing off around 3:20. Keeping this short, the course is in nice overall condition. Good teeing grounds and coverage, with good lies from tee to green. Rough is mostly green and playable but with areas of dense vegetation bordering a few holes that are unplayable and easy in which to lose balls. The bunker sand was nicer than average although it generally wasn't as groomed as it could have been. Greens were in nice shape and running a bit over medium pace which is fine. Many of the greens have some slope and contour to them such that particularly quick greens might be a little problematic. Pace was good at a little over four hours. The clubhouse is closed for now (had a fire, I think?) and they are operating from outside, but the customer service was good and the cart service came around several times. As the name implies, the setting is in a canyon that gives it a sightly remote feel with nice views — really a peaceful location. I have been back to this course a couple of times recently after not having played it for many years because I am finding it worth playing more often both for the setting and conditions. As I write this, imagining how much more I would have enjoyed the day if I had brought any game with me. Recommended.

Just read FirstFlightFX-101's review of the course from our match and really can add little, so I'm pointing you there. The course is really in nice shape overall. Public or not, some courses suggest management has more interest in the quality of their course conditions than others and SD seems to be one of them. It's in a nice setting with a variety of challenges in play and, as Chuck mentioned, a few quirks. Rates are good, and even better if you are a senior. The couple I brought along to play had never been there and came away quite enthused about the value of the course. They intend to return even though it was an hour drive for them to get there.

Played 5/14/21 at 1:15 tee off for a cup match with T8fish. We were joined by a wonderful couple to play with, Chris and Mary. First, the clubhouse was roped off(no entry at all to the entire structure) and no food or beverage services available. They were efficiently greeting and processing customers under the big tree that is behind the top terraced teebox on hole #1. The range net and practice greens were all open. Weather was good, temps in low 80's and light winds made for good golfing.
Tee boxes were actually good, some needing leveling and some more chewed than others.
Fairways in great shape and just on the lush side; landings and rollouts for tee shots, intermediate shots and recovery punch shots all did well for us.
Rough was healthy and kept well manicured, easy to hit from and find our wayward balls.
Bunkers, good sand, semi white and brown hue, semi fluffy with only slight crusting where the water settles.
Areas around greens were very good, like the rough, and transitioned well to the fringes. Your short game recovery shots will do well with these good lies.
Greens were good and some were being small tine aerated as we were playing. They accepted all shots and were slightly soft underfoot. They rolled medium-fast speeds. San Dimas has a wide variety of greens; sizes, shapes, tiers, ridges and slopes. Study those approaches.
This course is fun and challenging, even a few quirks. I'd love to come away from a round here with the same ball I started with, and always shooting from my own fairway. Kevin did much better at not sharing strategies with me during our match, but I was still listening when he was sharing with Chris and Mary. ;-) I walked this course with Kevin...I don't think I will try that again!

Like the previous review said. Been awhile since I have been here. Found the conditions (other than the cool gray skies) to be very good. No tee box issues. Fairways in nice playing condition. Missed the traps but heard no complaints from others. Rough was low and playable. Greens in very nice shape for chipping/putting. Great customer service at check in and food service. Very enjoyable day playing here.

It had been a while since I've played here. I never seem to score well at this course, and today was no exception. Course just does not "fit my eye" Conditions however were quite good, better than expected, even the greens which have recovered from the aeration reasonably well.
Fairways had good coverage. Tee boxes also in nice shape.

Staff was friendly and very accommodating. I would have to recommend this course right now.
