Been looking forward to check this one out for a while and if it were up to me it'll be a one and done experience. No amenities to speak of, starter "pro shop" is in a converted shipping container, no real food/drink options unless you count the taco stand by the third tee (on weekends only?). No full range, just a small warm up cage. On the good end, they have a couple of nice practice greens that are true to what's on the course. Teed off as a foursome at 1 and were waiting on practically every shot. Folks in front of us were awful and the folks behind us were drunk and flipped their cart over on the 17th green, but after greeting the marshal on the second hole didn't see him again after. POP wound up around 5.25 hours. Course itself reminds me of a longer Debell, which is basically your standard hillside course with narrow tree-lined fairways, lots of OB opportunities if you're not precise with your shots, elevation changes, tricky uneven lies, tiered greens, etc. Also have to contend with power lines and other unsightly obstructions. If you're not hitting them straight here you're in for a long day. Fairways are in average shape, some thin and bare areas, and if you hit a poor shot, or even a good shot that bounces or rolls out the wrong way, you'll undoubtedly find yourself up against a tree at some point. The bunkers are also in poor shape, with thin to no sand, and full of rocks, but the views around the course are nice, the greens are really nice, soft and receptive and rolling on the slow side, and some of the holes especially on the back 9 are fun, but not a place i'd make the trip out to again

My tee time was 7.30 am place of play was 4 hours 20 minutes . Greens are in great shape fairways have some areas that could need more grass but overall not bad. Course maintenance on tee boxes they are getting punched so you will be playing long or short on the box. Sand Traps I have no idea when you go into a trap you should not clean up after yourself many privileged golfers did not clean up after there shot gladly I was avoiding bunkers. I played as a senior mid week cost for me was $40 cheaper if you walk. Place is busy but a challenge hard to get a even lie---I recommend this golf course at this time....

Played this morning. Easy check in with shop and Mark the starter had everything running smooth. To bad the marshal did not have the same enthusiasm in moving groups along. The four elderly walkers who are too cheap to take a cart, were 1 and sometimes 1.5 holes behind. Its a shame that people who want an early tee time are so forgetful of the people behind them. Course is in nice shape at present. They have a reclaiming system that returns the water back to the ponds and have kept the course nice and green. You will find some dry areas but they are mostly outside of the fairways, which are in good shape both in run out and lies. Tee boxes were all fine. Bunkers could use some work and players should be more responsible in using the rakes (they don't bite). Very little rough to deal with but when you find it it is penalizing. Not to mention the lakes, culverts, many OB areas along many fairways that one has to deal with if faced with errant tee shots. Greens were in great shape. Chipped, putted, held and released shots nicely. And devoid of divots and nice to see that players are repairing those. $40 Sr rate at present is IMO a very good deal for golf/cart in todays ever increasing golf fees by many courses. No problem with recommending this course. But it is busy so get an early tee time. Also that part of the LA basin seems to get light very early compared to other parts of LA, OC counties. In fact when we arrived at 5:30 players were already lining up for carts and some even taking off in the dark.

Had a chance to play this course in a tourney a couple of weeks ago. I thought I had played all of the Los Angeles golf course and lo and behold, I missed this one.

Had a chance to play this course in a tourney a couple of weeks ago. I thought I had played all of the Los Angeles golf course and lo and behold, I missed this one.

The layout did not suit my eye that much but I was playing well so I was able to overcome holes that would normally give me trouble, namely the holes that required less than driver off the tee.

Greens were a bit deceptive in that you could knock them well by the hole if you were above it but took a good stroke if you were below the hole.

I probably would not play it again because of the drive and the fact that you only use the driver a few times.

The condition of the golf course was pleasantly surprising.

Played San Dimas last Saturday March 5. Teed off at 5:45 with barely any daylight. Course is in decent shape. The star of the show are the greens which are like a very smooth carpet, hardly any blemishes on most holes. On my feet, the greens felt slightly spongy which fooled me into thinking they were slower than they are. The greens are actually quite fast, and on some spots you think the ball is going to come to a stop, but the ball just slowly leaks away several more feet. But once you get used to it, the line and speed are very true. The fairways I found to be a little patchy and brown in certain spots. The layout is a little funky and being on the side of a hill gives you a number of tee shots where you aim for one side of the fairway and hope it won't roll off the other side of the fairway. Pace of play was very good (about 3:50), and two of us were walking. The pro shop is under construction so check-in happens in a portable building. Overall I recommend it if you don't mind the cost which is just slightly high imo.

Played on Saturday in a league tournament. Things were much better after they had cleaned up some big time wind damage from a couple weeks prior. Although the course was more pleasing to the eye with green fairways, the grass was thin and spotty to the point the way played preferred lies. Good drives that should have stayed in the fairway often rolled off to the sides. Greens were in good shape and fast. Rough was also thin.

Slightly overpriced even in today's market with some funky holes due to power lines. Just a net for driving range and the clubhouse is closed. Grill was outside in a tent...

Do not get out to San Dimas very often but made the drive and glad that I choose this course. (I wanted to try Marshall Canyon, but thanks to Greenskeeper, knew it was closed. As prior review states, greens were the highlight of the course. Fairways were a mix of thin/bare areas, or decent coverage, just depended on where your ball ended up. Tee boxes coud use some attention, as many were thin or were just chewed up.

Never have been a great fan of this course, but it is an interesting layout and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. A nice change of pace

Just want to give a shout out to the staff at San Dimas who went out of their way to help our group out. Very accommodating and professional; top notch! The course, on the other hand, was in typical winter shape, a far cry from when I played just a few months ago. The tee boxes were very beaten up, some with noticeably uneven lies (e.g. 16th tee). Fairways were thin and spotty with weeds and dirt patches through out. The greens were EXCELLENT. Medium-fast, held shots well and rolled TRUE! Very good condition. The bunkers were also EXCELLENT, full of soft sand. The only downside to the bunkers were that people were not raking them and as soft as they were, made some of the bunkers a mess. Pace of play was great at just over 4 hours and overall I enjoyed my round here as usual.

Played a couple weeks ago. It'll be hard to find another public course with as much grass since the drought has been brutal this year. That said, there is mostly grass on the fairways, tee boxes have grass for most, greens are in pretty good shape. Pace of play however is brutal at 5 hours on the average. It's a quirky course with some short par 3's and 4's and funky par 5's. Wind can be killer on the back in the afternoon on some of the holes. A lot of hackers here so be aware of your surroundings.
