Played here for the first time last week, after having heard about it for a while. It was fine. Pretty decent shape all around, especially considering how much play it gets. I can't say it made a big impression on me, either positively or negatively. Many of the holes are right in front of you, so it's just hit the fairway, hit the green. I will say, however, that you don't want to miss the fairway by much, because there are trees on one or both sides on many holes, as well as water on a few holes. Overall, it's a pleasant course that is in good shape.

Played Saturday, early. Walked on as a single and got out in a decent amount of time. The starter was great at getting me and a couple of others on the list out on a busy but well run weekend morning. Kudos to his courtesy and professionalism.

The course was in good shape. No negative comments about anything except the placement of some of the tee markers in fairly tight, not level positions. The greens showed obvious signs of prior aeration but they were quite firm and running pretty fast. Definitely something you had to be aware of in avoiding downhill putts. They did not roll perfectly all the time but they were acceptable. I was in the front bunker on the par 3 12th and my ball was plugged so lack of sand was not an issue :-)

We played in almost exactly 4 hours after starting about one hour after daylight. Very good pace of play. Altogether a pleasure to get out to ElDo again.

Bit of a late review. Took advantage of a last-minute invite for an early tee time at Eldo. I've always felt Eldorado was the best of the Long Beach courses, although not my favorite as I enjoy Recreation Park more.

Course was in overall good condition. Greens better than expected, as the recent aeration has pretty much healed. Good coverage in the fairways. Didn't find a single bunker, but they appeared OK. So long as you get out early, pace of play is fine here. My only real complaint is cost. I guess I remember "back in the day" when I could play here for under $5. Not so any more, but then gas was 30 cents a gallon, not $6+

Teed off this morning about 7:40 finishing in 4:10. I like that the Long Beach city courses have maintained 10 minute tee time spreads. Hopefully it continues. The greens are almost recovered from aeration. There was a light top dressing with bumps her and there but the affect on putting was mild. The greens rolled medium+ speed and held shots. Another week and the greens should be great again. The fairways overall have good coverage with some thin spots. The rough has decent coverage with some thin/bare spots. The length is long enough to affect shots but not overly penal. The bunkers appeared to be in good condition but I was not in any today. The tee boxes had decent coverage and are mildly unlevel in spots. Always enjoy playing Eldo. The staff was friendly.

Friday twilight round at El Dorado and just wanted to report that most of the greens were just recently sanded and aerated so I would definitely wait a week or two. They still got the job done but I wish I would have known ahead of the booking.

Other than that, El Do is in its typical good, shy of great shape with good coverage in the fairways, very nice and thick rough, decent sand traps and flat, level but somewhat beat up tee boxes. POP didn't seem like too much of an issue so I was surprised when we finished around five hours.

No cart service for a busy Friday afternoon was disappointing since the snack shop first available near the third tee box was closed already. Price was right though and El Do is always a fun challenge and very solid layout.

Teed off this morning at 7:50 finishing in 4:10. The greens are in very good condition, other than a few unrepaired ball marks. The greens rolling fairly fast today, smooth, and held shots. Downhill putts could easily get away if not paying attention. The fairway mostly have good coverage with a few small thin/bare spots. The rough has some thin/bare spots but overall decent and long enough to affect shots but not too penal. The greenside bunkers on the front appear to have new sand. The back nine bunkers are a mixed bag with some having new sand and others being hard dirt. Hopefully it's still a work in progress. The tee boxes are mildly unlevel in spots and coverage is decent. Always enjoy playing Eldo especially when the greens are playing smooth and fast as they were today. The staff was friendly.

Played 02/23 @ 740. POP a little over 4 hrs. Rained the night before, course wasn't even that wet. Weather was cold (56 degrees) windy and clear. Greens as always were in great shape. Most of them tilt from back to front, down hillers I had were quick. The course is super tight with tree lined fairways and multiple water hazards. You don't want to be spraying your drives. Tee boxes were in good shape (some were being overseeded) fairways had good coverage and firm. Bunkers were a mixed bag, probably because of the rain. Overall El Do is a good track to play and test your skills. Hey, for $44 to walk it's definitely worth the price.

Sunday round at El Dorado with a buddy and we all walked after being paired with another single. We played from the back (blue) tees with a 9am tee time that I found two days before. It seems the best way to find tee times is now this way instead of a week or nine days in advance. Turned out to be a gorgeous early winter day as the sun shined brightly throughout with temperatures getting well into the 70s by midday. Could not ask for better weather. The course did its best to keep up with all the good cheer, but struggled in a few areas, mostly in terms of muddied fairways in lots of areas and a few too many burned out spots that didn't keep in line with the rest of the course conditions. The rough was a bit unruly but nothing that proved too difficult to find or hit a ball. Bunkers were in good shape for the most part with rakes provided but still plenty of footprints everywhere as golfers slowly come around again to their jobs. Tee boxes were also on the 'just okay' side but always level and nothing awful to write home about. The saving grace were the very nice greens which were running quite speedily and holding shots very well. There are some subtle breaks and slopes at El Do which can make a few of the greens a bit tricky, but nothing so gimmicky that you need to map it out with a compass before making your stroke. In summary, the greens are quite nice. For a busy Sunday it was disappointing to not see any cart service all afternoon, nor was the snack shop open near the 3rd and 15th tee boxes, and even the snack stand at the turn that usually is open selling brats and hot dogs was closed. What gives? I assume it's a personnel issue with labor currently in short supply, but it's getting to the point now where you really have to BYOB everything you may need on the course since there's no guarantee any other facilities will be open. POP was very good and we did barely any waiting all day, nor were we ever pushed by the group behind us. That always makes for a pleasant afternoon. All in all, it's always a good time at El Dorado but I hope they figure out how to keep more of the amenities open on busy weekends and get the fairways back in order.

It has been awhile since playing here and as usual, the greens are fast and well maintained. Course conditions are generally decent and overall enjoyable. Added bonus was that there was plenty of sand in the bunkers and that was certainly a welcome surprise.

Check in was quick and efficient. Friendly staff.

Started at 3pm and finished 9 at 5:30 which I consider pretty decent POP here.

Certainly a fun day at my local course and definitely will be back.
