Like I have read from previous reviewer This course is in glorious shape. Greens are tough but fair. Balls roll true with some speed to them. Aggressive shots to the green however are oftentimes too hot for the greens to accept. Play was quick for a short course. The threesome in the group ahead moved quickly and although we walked we rarely had the foursome that was riding behind us on our tail. A few folks mentioned slow play and compared the course to a goat path but honestly what sort of subjective evaluation you using? The course doesn't favour the bomber. You will use practically every club in your bag. Expect a decent challenge from what at first appears to be an unassuming course.

For those who read these feedbacks regularly, I'm not going to bother going on again about what a great deal this place is. I wanted to share a funny story. I was driving through the parking lot when we arrived and passed 2 "marshalls" sitting in the parking lot, both of them in seperate carts. One asked the other "what that group wanted" (asking about a group on the course). He replied, in a rather bothered voice, "Oh, they were complaining again about the slow play of the group in front of them". Then they both chuckled. Hey, American Golf! Get the d%mn marshalls out of the parking lot and onto the course to help speed up play on your course! People always bad-mouth American Golf facilities for their slow play and over-crowding. If the guys they paid to help regulate that actually earned their money, they wouldn't be having these problems. And if you are playing in a group on Saturday afternoon and haven't seen the group ahead of you for 2 holes, PICK UP THE d%mn PACE, or don't be surprised when I launch a tee shot into the middle of your group!

Greens were a little slow but what do expect that late in the day. Only probel is this website said they had a middday rate but when I got there they said it did not exist anymore so it was $50 which is a little pricey for this course.

Hey Flying_Fossil, if you thought Meadowlark was a goat farm 6 months ago, you'll still hate it! Personally, I don't think there is a course in OC that can compare for the $$. Keep playing Costa Mesa, and I'll continue paying half as much and be able to walk on Saturday afternoon. I called Saturday morning at 9:45 and got a 1:24 tee time. Granted, the pace was a tad slow, but a 5 hour round can be expected at the less-costly courses in OC. I love that everyone bad-mouth's Meadowlark...more room for me!

I was pleasantly surprised at the conditions of the course. I had heard some bad stories, but the course is in nice shape. The layout is fun and nice for a short course. The back nine is fun with many hills and there are some drivable par 4's that make it interesting. The price is good for the course, but the only downfall is the pace of play. While we played the front nine in just around 2 hours, we slowed to a stand still (with 3 groups on a tee at some points) on the back (and of course, for no reason). We finished in a little over 5 hours, but was still a fun round. Watch out for the wind in the afternoon.

This is a very short course that requires a wicked short game to score well. Greens are small but flat. I've played there for years and still can't figure out most of the breaks. Par 3's are the toughest part of the course. This is a totally different golf course in the afternoon wind(example:16th hole-morning 8 iron / afternoon four iron).
Course was in good shape, greens alittle slow. Pace of play was terrible, typical American Golf, put as many people on the first tee as possible. New interior OB on the 9th hole is alittle questionable. Also, they just extended out the water hazard on 8, beware!

Played Friday 3/18 for $12 so it is hard to find a course that isn't worth that fee. The course was not in bad shape except they had just mowed the rough it then it began to rain which made very difficult shots with all the wet grass. Good part of the rain was that the course ws wide open on a Friday afternoon.

Course is in good condition overall. But with the recent rain, their rough is ridiculously thick - could not even locate ball even if you know where it went in. But I was told this is not normal. N... Continue »

Course is in good condition overall. But with the recent rain, their rough is ridiculously thick - could not even locate ball even if you know where it went in. But I was told this is not normal. Nice back 9 with its elevation changes while front is relatively flat. Green fee is very reasonable.
