Well, I did know what I was getting into ... so it's back to the Classic on the second day of 2016. Running 20 minutes late for our 7:15am t time and PoP right at 4:40 mostly due to pathetically slow, riding 5-some ahead of us who finished a hole and a half behind ... no marshal to be found. I swear that they all (except one) stayed on each green within 5' of each other until the last putt dropped. Caucasian guys, too (I know that's PC incorrect but that Trump guy is growing on me). Sorry, minor vent. Fairways still a mixed bag, so there were some thin lies and the rough was patchy. Bunkers looked a bit damp but most were playable, some were semi-raked. Greens mostly smooth with only a few bumps and bruises ... regardless, they were very firm and quick. Only well struck balls would check up, there are a few soft areas which are just enough to make you scratch your head. The rain next week should help. $52 walking isn't much of a deal, but it's the OC ... everyone is rich here.

Mid morning (10:30) Black Friday round on the classic, running just a few minutes late and PoP right at 4.5 hrs so the waiting was there, but not brutal at all (mostly par 3's). The good: greens. Fully recovered and rolling very nice at medium speed. Bunkers okay, too, just a tad heavy sand. The bad: some thin areas to avoid in fairways. Used to be lush here, it's not right now. The ugly: a few fairways were in terrible shape. A few more than normal. Surprised to see that and do not know the reason. Multiple grasses and weeds, mostly kikuyu. Hard to recommend at this time, unless you know what you're getting into. But like I said, the greens are Mile Sq. fine Poa.

Pop was pretty slow, waited on every hole, sometimes two groups on par 3's. Conditions were pretty bad. Tee boxes were uneven but had sand in many. Would've been better to sand an area, let it heal and put the tee markers elsewhere rather than have us tee off in it. Greens were aerated 2-3 weeks ago so they were still slow and bumpy. Maybe just bad luck but I ended up in four divots throughout my round, twice in fairway and twice in rough.
Very surprised that the conditions were as bad as they were. Played on Players course in July and conditions were fine so not sure why the night and day difference.

Played the Classic Saturday morning, 10-3. POP was excellent, at 3:45, with my twosome playing at an easy pace behind a 3-some. Greens were on the slow side, having been punched recently but very playable. Only the second time I played this course, and I found the course to be pretty basic and straight forward. Tee boxes were fine, and the fairways were thin in some areas and sufficiently lush in others. No hardpan. The bunkers looked ok but I was in only one so I can't say too much about them. It's hardly an exciting course but the rate was reasonable, and the POP (at least on this occasion) was great.

Played in less than 4 hours early(6:30 am) on Labor Day. My son-in-law and I played with a couple of nice guys with a good focus on golf and pace. Almost hard to believe it is on the same property as the Players course. Lush throughout, fairway and rough. Not the longest course but played a little longer than listed because of the lush kikuyu grass. We were on the tee a couple of minutes early. The greens were excellent, really no complaints with the facility. Not the most exciting course but the conditions go a long way to make up for that. Not to mention the pace of play. Busy holiday but the course staff was up to the challenge. $52 to walk (we rode but I do not recall the cart price) is not cheap but worth it.

Teed off at 6:45 playing in 4 hours on Tuesday 8/11. The greens rolled good with medium pace. The fairways are mostly good with some thinning areas. As stated previously #16 from 150 in is hit and miss for a good lie. The rough is mostly good with some thin spots. The tee boxes are fair to good. The bunkers are good. This is a flat course with large trees lining the fairways but provides room off the tee. The staff was friendly.

On the tee on the Classic at 7AM on a Sat. and finished at 11, $52 to walk here on the W/E, pricey. Course well maintained today, greens and bunkers in very good shape. Like rgm2525 mentioned, the 16th fairways inside of 150 yds is hideous ... better to lay up at 150 or take your chance on a bad lie. Even our 280 yard player had a terrible lie in the middle ... don't know why they can't grow grass in that one area.

Still recommended.

Played 6-17-15 early morning walking as a single in 2 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were mostly level and in good shape with a few of the three pars a little chewed up. Fairways were in very nice shape with ball sitting up very nice. 16th fairway was the only one in bad shape with bare spots and different types of grass with some new sodded areas. Rough was cut low with some minor bare spots, mostly under trees. Sandtraps looked nice and well groomed. Greens were firm and running medium speed with a few bumps but overall in good shape.
