Played Friday May 15th, Course was in really good shape, the forecast was for rain and there was none for the first 4 holes, then light rain thru 8, then heavier for 9 thru 11 and then the down pore. We were walking and we waited on the tee box of 12 for about 20 minutes for the rain to let up, then finished the round in a little more rain than was comfortable. POP was actually 3:50 even with the wait, lol we were all alone, jee I wonder why. lol. After the round we could not get back to the clubhouse because the culvert was so full of water, lol we have to walk towards hole 12 to get to a bridge. Even though it rained, I had a really good time.

Second round of the day (just like Nicksquire last week) was the Classic at Mile Sq. Got around in just under 4 hrs. (really) with a 12:30 tee time. Greens are healed from aeration and rolled very nice at medium speed, quick if downhill. Bunkers good cover and maintained this afternoon, surprising since the Players had several with foot prints. Good roll out in the fairways, rough not too long, easy to play from, just stay away from the many mature trees that line this course which makes your tee shot Omni-important. Good layout for a flat course, has more character than the Players. Still pricey for what you get.

Walked the blues (6714/71.5/124) with Dconnally & Stickboy on their $23 twilight rate on a partly cloudy, breezy weekday afternoon. Flat course, very reasonable to walk, which I did for 36 holes today on the two Mile Square courses. 1st time playing here. The layout is traditional in nature and fairly wide open. A few lakes and trees to keep you honest, but the fairways are wide and the greens are large. The tees were mediocre, probably the worst part of the course. Many were thin and chewed up. The fairways were lush, almost TOO lush, if that is possible. The course played long because the fairways were thick and you got very little roll. The rough was also lush and not overly penal, good coverage, some hardpan under and around some trees. The sand traps I was in were excellent, well maintained with thick sand. The greens putted OK, recovering nicely after aeration, but still not 100%. Medium speed and a little bumpy @ times. The green complexes are larger than average, so getting the ball on the correct section of the green (which I rarely managed to do) is essential to scoring well here. Better have your "A" lag putting game on this course! No drink cart, but plenty of water stations. The gal that checked me in the afternoon in the Pro Shop was excellent, far different than my a.m. experience on the Players a few hours earlier. Alot of fairly straight holes that are similar. I would not play here often, but it's a decent layout in very good condition overall. I would definitely play here again.

Played on 5/5/2015; enjoyed the round with GKers stickboy and Nickesquire on a cool cloudy day with occasional wind. Course was busy as golfers took advantage of a weekday afternoon twilight rate, starting at 2pm, of $23 walking, booked on the course website. Course is in generally very good condition, with greens healed from aeration and rolling well at medium speed. Fairway lies were thin but generally good. Rough was cut down in most places but spots of bushy grass were scattered about. I wasn't in a trap but they appeared to be in pretty good shape, although damp and firm. Tees were hit and miss - most were OK, but all the par 3 tees are in serious need of leveling, showing significant mounds and dips in the areas adjacent to the permanent markers, and were pretty torn up. Greens generally had very few marks on them, although the short par 4 14th showed a lot of them. The fairway area between the 150 marker and the green on #16 was some wild mix of grasses, but it isn't fairway. Carts are just basic, but the course has marker poles and some sprinklers are marked, and helpful yardage books are available. No cart girl today. Shop staff was a little snarkey when I asked about range balls and getting carts early. Nick took a zillion photos. Recommended.

Teed off at 7:20 finished in 3:50. The greens are in very good shape with medium/fast speed. The fairways are in good shape with the exception of a couple of the newer holes on the back nine that have some patched areas but are in fair condition. The rough is in overall good condition. The bunkers are in good condition. However, the sand is very wet and heavy in the mornings due to watering. The tee boxes are fair to good with minor unlevelness. The course is flat and fairly straight forward with mild doglegs. It is an enjoyable course to play.

Off the tee on time early on a Saturday, finished in a tick under 4 hours. Walking rate of $52 .... yep. Course in fine condition, tee to green. Bunkers a bit wet and heavy early, probably better later in the day. Poa greens coming back from aeration on schedule, should be back to perfect in another week or two. Kind of a no frills course in the heart of the OC, but enjoyable and semi-challenging if you aren't putting the ball in the fairway (trees). Lot's of activity going on in the parks surrounding the course, so if you have rabbit ears, this isn't La Purisima. Still recommended.

Walked Mile Square Classic Sunday at 10:45, first time playing the Classic course and I was impressed with conditions. Walking in the 90 degree heat was a little taxing, but no strokes so that was good. Fairways were mostly lush, greens had minimal noticed ball marks. Rough was thick and consistent for the whole round. Bunkers might have been a tad "pebbley", but otherwise no issues. What is up with no cart service on the weekend? Maybe they just don't do it, I don't know, but that would have been nice yesterday. For $52 walking rate I didn't feel I overpaid as the conditions were as nice as any Muni I have played in a while.

Played in a tournament on Sunday the 8th. Played in 5 hours which was expected. The course was in good shape. Generally lush. The rough was a factor at times. The fairways had good cover. Nice greens. Decent speed. There were quite a bit of divot damage we had to repair but putts were only occasionally bumpy. The "new holes", especially 16, were not as good in the fairway. I hit a great drive and ended up in rough. Maybe the fairway was supposed to run out but if so I did not see any demarcation. There was just thick rough at the 100 yard area in what should have been the fairway. There were several crowned tees at which it was difficult to find a level stance.

One weird thing involved the length of the par 3s. We played the white tees in this tourney. I played the same club each par three. There was about 15 yards difference as scoped from each tee but with wind and elevation differences, they each were playing about 155 yards. I do not recall that happening at a course before. Anyway, I enjoyed the course.
