Played this course on Sunday the 18th. Fairways are sparse grass and or dirt. Lots of GUR. The Greens and tees are still in good shape. IMHO There's no way they should be charging that much money to play a course in such bad condition. I'm not going back until they fix that place.

Could not agree more with the last review by chevelle. The greens are really the only good part of this course, other than the layout. It is overpriced and because they have so much back nine play in the morning, makes it all but impossible to get around quickly when teeing off at dawn. When you factor in the price and conditioning, better off traveling somewhere else and spending a few more $$ if you intend to play in the OC

Played Friday Jan 9th. As stated in the previous review, this course is in terrible shape. The tee boxes were ok, greens rolled pretty nice, the traps were mud, and the fairways, OMG horrible. Nothing but mud. POP was good at 4 hrs and that is with us waiting every hole on a walking 4some in from of us. IMHO, this is a typical Orange County course that is WAY over priced, $48 I mean come on, We are playing The Babe this friday for $49. This is not the only O.C. course that likes to charge high fees because of there location,(O.C) they really need to get off their (O.C.) high horse, their course is horrible. Their price should be $34 INCLUDING cart. At least I won't have to come back for another year when my group will play here again.

Course is in bad shape due to the drought and recent rains. They are doing a lot of work to improve things but have a long way to go. Fairways are either thin or muddy with lots of bare spots; even if you play "lift, clean, and play" its hard to find a decent lie. Tee boxes and greens are fine.
It appears that most of the work to install drains has been done as there were no open trenches on the course. But I hope the work they've done is more effective than today's conditions show.
Drainage and sand in some of the traps is much improved.

In my 10 plus years playing this golf course I've never seen it in such bad shape. Bare spots everywhere, fairways, rough. Completely overwatered (took me 10 minutes to clean my push cart from all the mud) and poorly kept.
What is going on here? Are they planning on closing? Has the superintendent gone baddy? We had to play lift, clean and place and we're in a drought!
We got a special deal - $40 bucks with a cart, lunch and two beers. Maybe the beer goggles were suppose to mask the terrible playing conditions. American golf should be ashamed. I'm embarrassed for them.

I played this course on 11/16/14. We were a group of 5 and started at noon which is twilight now. The course conditions are terrible most of the fairways are dirt and looks like construction of some source is going on. You might think you hit a fairway but being off is the same thing. The pace of play was slow. We were a 5 some and keep on waiting for the 3some in front of us with no Marshall anywhere to speeds things up. This is one of the worst courses that I played condition wise. The layout is nice but is not worth spending 5 hours in a course like this one. We thought that since is was an orange County course we were going to get quality but we were disappointed. The only positive about our outing was the over price bacon cheeseburger at the turn.

After playing here on 9-14-14, couldn't wait to get back, and even brought a friend to play. What a difference 2 weeks make! Played on 9-19-14, and have to say, it was different than my 1st experience there. POP and back 9 greens were bad. POP was terrible for me and my buddy on the front 9. Got paired with 2 ladies that were interested in talking to each other than playing. How many times can you constantly say to a pair "you can go ahead and hit now"? Apparently, 9+ times! like on every hole. Finally they got the hint when we just started playing ahead of them from the 7th hole on. The greens were horrible! The bad part, the aerated front 9 greens were much better than the non punched back 9! It was like putting on shag carpet, no putts held the line, and it was a slower than the front 9 or putting greens. The starters(both of them), were really nice in getting us a cart and getting us out on the tee. The starter/Marshall was a really nice and funny guy, and I actually saw him out on the course a few times. Not a big fan of courses that charge you to use the chipping greens and have dirt ranges, so I didn't get to warm-up like I wanted to.

Decided to try to get a quick early round in that was not too far from home. I kind of knew what to expect condition wise and the past review was spot on, although the greens are healing nicely and within the next week or so the "old" punched half should be fine, but of course then the other half will be punched next week.

Not a huge fan of this course and because they have a lot of early back nine play, I tend to shy away. That was the case again, zipped around the font only to run into a wall of back nine players. Because it was so nice out, just decided to slow down, play a couple balls and enjoy the morning.

My apologies on this post - part review, part rant.
Our Mens club had already scheduled our tourney here a year ago so could not cancel out. I checked GK for conditions, which I normally do for all our tournaments - greens were punched last week in front only . Bummer

Management was kind enough to make amends (won't say how so as not to put pressure on them, will give them an attaboy)

Conditions were good under the circumstances of hot weather.
Tee boxes were kinda chewed up with many divots, and uneven but could find a place to tee it up. fairways were decent with some thin/dirt spots but rolled nice. The starter mentioned that course is built on an old landfill which causes problems off and on (Did not know this), Rough was the same with some thin/dirt spots and some places were shaggy with unmowed grass (Purposely) and grabbed your club. Bunkers were ok, not great sand but were playable.

The greens were what I expected - front half is starting to bounce back, still some deep holes from aeration, covered with sand and gruesomely slow making for some interesting putting challenges. On the smooth side they rolled well, with many ball marks.

POP - for a Saturday, with a tournament group we finished in just over 4.75 hrs, we could have done it in just over 4. We were the 1st group out, on the tee box were two groups, a 4some of seniors, and a 3some of college age young people 2males/1female. by the 3rd hole it slowed up. Had to wait on teeing off. The 4some fell back about a hole, the 3some waited to tee off until the 4some was close to the green. At around the 7th hole a marshal came around, senior waiting for group in front of them to reach the green, he asked us if we were being held up, of course. He went to see what the hold up was. He came back at the 11th hole, he had asked the seniors to speed up which was noticeable, but the 3 youngsters were still waiting to tee off. Drives were in the 160-180 range, many hooks n slices but still waited.

I asked the marshal to look into the youngsters, a hole later he came back "I spoke to them about their slow play, they looked a me and one said No English" LOL, No they were not Latino!
well at least he tried and it could have turned into a 5.5 hr or worse round. Kudos to the marshal, and the staff. At least our group shot decent and had a great time, and the beer was cold! Again TY for letting me share my rant.
