Had not played here for a while, mostly because I really hate walking this track now. The distances between some of the holes is just more than I choose to handle. From #11 to #12, then the long haul from #12 to #13 is ridiculous, and then the walk from the 18th green back to the parking lot is just too far ! Hard to justify paying $23 to play and then $16 for the cart. It isn't only about the $$, I prefer to walk, but this course is no longer enjoyable to do that. (Plus I really miss many of the holes on both courses which no longer exist)

As for conditions: When I reached the first green, it was horrible and I thought that if all the greens are like this, how disappointing. In all fairness the greens did improve except #12 was also in lousy shape. (Many bare areas) Fairways were ok at times, with lots of areas of dirt. Rough was not much better. The bunkers were surprisingly good and well maintained.

What I found interesting were the large signs taped to each flag stick instructing you "not to tough the pin", like anybody on the planet who plays golf doesn't already know this.

I used to play the two Green River courses quite frequently years ago. It's just so sad to see what has happened to Green River, not just the poor condition of the course, but the overall golf experience which I once enjoyed here.

Played today, 12/3 at 8:30AM. No one was out on the course or range which was surprising. There was a ton of wind so the course was challenging.
POP: We finished just around 3 1/2 hours which is great by my standards.
Range: Range was decent; you are limited if you are a big hitter because the range is short; essentially you have to aim into one corner or its over the net.
Course: Allowing single riders if you opt for that, my buddy and I just rode together. The course conditions are average, the greens were recovering from being punched it looks like, but they were soft and rolling FAST. I think the only thing here that bothers me is even if you hit a ball down the middle of the fairway you can easily lose it because of the leaves. I try to only play here during the summer but was desperate to play somewhere today. Its so frustrating losing a ball that should be right in the open; not really the courses fault I guess but something that bothers me at this course. It is fairly cheap to get 18 holes with a cart, I think today it was $55 bucks with a medium bucket which isn't terrible. I think I will wait until summer to play here again.

I hate blasting courses. I love golf and I understand its hard running an operation and probably
even more so now. However...........

Tee Boxes: Terrible, the boxes need to be leveled and for sure mowed. I would have to use a tee ball set up just to get enough grass clearance to have a tee shot on 3 holes.

Fairways: They were also spotty, some had grass other spots had dirt and other spots had just earth.

Rough: Golfers shouldn't be there so its whatever.

Sand traps. Like playing on clumpy sugar. The sand was so dry the club just slid underneath the sand. Just sucks with the Covid and the trap situation currently.

Greens. Im aware that its hot but geez Louise! The greens were slow. They were very green and looked pretty good with the exception of one that looked like there was a large cross gouged out of it. Spongy and slow, the ball just had no roll. Having the Poa annua pop sucks for a putting stroke.

Personally, the course condition is one of the worst I've played in the last few months. Its a shame because I think the layout is pretty cool and some of the views with the trains makes for a cool experience. It has that rustic overtones mixed in with the old school design like some of the tracks in the area, It would be nice to see a little bit more attention to the course. POP was 4 1/2 but for sure today was white tee hackers paradise. I must have found a dozen Kirkland balls out there like some just bought an ammo cans worth and went full send on all the holes. 56 bucks for the weekend was a little stiff for the condition but hey, played golf today and all that cant be that bad.

Played Green River Tuesday 4/28 shortly after they had opened up from the corona-virus shutdown. It was the first time I had been to the course in +10 years. I'm not sure the staff were really ready to open but they did a great job of marshaling people through the Pro-shop and getting groups off the 1st Tee while enforcing social distancing and face-masks.
The greens were pretty good, not always the same speed but in good shape and running true.
Some fairways were quite nice, some respectable for a muni course, others were like cow pasture.
The rough was PENAL, worthy of a US Open! 3" to 4"+ was not unusual. As long as you stayed in the fairway things were OK. Get off into the rough and it was tough. Lost 4 balls that I thought I had tracked pretty close and would normally have expected to find
A TOUGH walk on a 90 degree day, would consider taking a cart in the future.
All said and done a well worthwhile round of golf for a great price. I would recommend the course and will be back in the not too far off future.

Have been on the disabled list for a couple of weeks and was biting at the bit to get out. Went out with my neighborhood group to play Green River (at my recommendation as I heard it was playing pretty good). Well, not exactly. A thoroughly enjoyable day despite 20-25 mph winds. Was a bit leery to play here particularly after reading Mr. Weber’s previous review but off we went with a 7:22 time playing as a five some. Pace of play was great, finished in about 3.5 hours despite being pushed by a two-some and the men’s club. The course however is clearly struggling. Not a lot to add from Weber’s review. Some of the fairways are ok but still many bare spots. Thought that since most of the front 9 was closed for several months, there would be some improvements. Didn’t see it. Yeah, it is still winter conditions and a lot of dormant kikuyu, but not the improvements I had hoped for. Rough was very inconsistent. Bunkers were pretty bad. Concrete hard and no way you can hit out of them. Greens were very good however (except #1). Sad indeed as this used to be our every Saturday go to course for years and always enjoyed it until things started to go downhill. I still love the lay out however. Holes 3 through 12 meander through some Corona hills in a very nice setting. I am hoping this course will come back to the way we all saw it before! I’ll still play here because the layout is challenging but just not as often.

After confirming that the entire 18 holes were open, decided to fight the wind and return to Green River. When the wind blows at Green River, it can really blow ! Check in was smooth and efficient. Rey in the shop advised that they will probably open keep 18 holes open on the weekends. (Don't know when that will begin)

Sad to report the course is not in very good condition, Greens are decent, some of the fairways are good, but many are "patchy". Rough was inconsistent. I found four greenside bunkers, and never had to rake even one of them, because they were so thin I did not even leave footprints. Just the thinnest veneer of sand covering rock hard ground.

Back when there were two courses, I used to enjoy playing here, but with the consolidation of the two courses, some very good holes were lost, plus the walk from #11 to #12, #12 to #13, and the walk back to the parking lot is just a grind. Not an enjoyable course to walk anymore.

Played today and what a disappointment. Half the course is shut down due to the construction in the area near the bridge leading to hole #3. So you play hole 1-2 then 12-18 and repeat. They did offer a discounted rate for the inconvenience, however the discount was not worth the conditions on the course. I figure it will be his way for at least several more weeks or at least a month.

First there is no starter to control the confusion on the first tee from players starting and the players coming from finishing he 1st nine holes. Many frustrated players playing through other groups, which happened to us when a 2 some jumped in on the 13th hole.

The greens are the only saving grace to this course, however they were still bumpy. Don't think its returning until the full course re-opens

Haven't played here in a few years. Early pm tee time on a Friday. No starter. Place has fallen into disrepair. Fairways are chewed up, full of potholes. Hard to distinguish between fairways and rough. Dirt mounds, weeds everywhere. Cart paths are an adventure as bounce around in and out of holes. Greens in best condition of any area on course. Green fee was appropriately low considering the lack of attention paid to maintenance. Smooth fairways are long gone. There are barbershop size poles in middle of fairways as distance markers. I hit one and ball ricochet sideways. Why aren't they located on border of fairways? Pro shop shelves half empty. Personnel were understanding when I found empty ball machine for range. Got another ticket no hassle and machine was filled up in timely manner. Pace good at 4 hours.

Decided to get out to play today even though it was raining in the morning. It wasn’t raining hard so I knew it would clear up but for whatever reason, I really enjoy playing in the rain. Got to the course about 10:00 am, paid $25 walking and off I went playing solo. A guy in a cart was at #1 and was teeing off also but no one was out on the course.

Not much to add differently from the previous review. Fairways were ok, nothing great. A couple of fairways were just aerated and were a mess with big holes and residue cores laying everywhere. The other fairways were in ok condition. The rough was hit and miss. Some were just fine, others were very thick and unplayable really and other areas we hard pan. Bunkers were mud as a result of the rain.

The greens were rolling well. #1 green has had some patchwork done but still rolled ok. This green has always had issue though. The rest of the greens were in good shape and rolled nicely.

I have always enjoyed playing here as they have some challenging holes but the course conditions have always kept me away. Let’s see if the rain and the potential improvements will make a difference going forward. I hope so!
