Man this course is nice. - Practice area is great - chipping area, putting green, sand area and grass driving range.
The course itself is in great condition. First hole allows you to score as well as the second. The course is fair but local knowledge is premium.
The entire day was fun and full of good shots. If there is one hole to play it is the signature hole (Spinal Slide) - it is breathe taking and a good hole to play.

Staff was ery good and attentive to the golfers.

Fun place to play - one of the top places to play before you stop playin.

I played Oak Quarry on APr 13, 2009 at the GK golf outing.

I have played this course a few times before and as always the course is in very good condition. While Oak Quarry is not a really long course, it is a very challenging course to play and has a lot of character in addition to the beautiful scenery and views. There are many opportunities to risk the long shot and get rewarded but there is a penalty for misses. There are many bunkers on the course and they are pretty challenging. The greens were in great shape and while not super big, make putting a little difficult sometimes. Overall a great course and a great value and a lot of fun to play.

Played this AM, all recent reviews are spot on, EVERYTHING is Country Club layout. Staff is very helpful.. food is great,, and the golf course is back in almost perfect shape. Greens were smooth, fast but receptive to good shots. $55 senior is worth every $$$...
We will return soon. Oh Yeah,, the views are worth 1/2 the green fee.

Oak Quarry Golf Club is clearly one of the premier places you can play in Southern California. Everything about this course is a “Bold” statement. The course has a certain presence and uniqueness about it not found anywhere else while at the same time maintains excellent playing conditions on a very entertaining/scenic/challenging track.

Every time I play this course, including yesterday, I get treated with enormous respect from their entire friendly staff.

Yesterday I found the greens to be mostly fast, smooth and firm. The fairways, just about perfect, lush, tight cut and firm. Rough, not too penalizing yet well maintained. Sand Traps, well raked yet thin on sand. Tee Boxes, beautiful. Level, tight cut and lush.

My advice to anyone playing this course to score well would be to avoid green side bunkers, play conservative off the tee and make correct club selections on approach as many of the greens have multi tiers.

Lastly, if you are looking of a course to have an outing at, I can’t say enough good things about how professional and organized they were. Highly recommend!

As for the course.... WOW just about sums it up. Greens are VERY receptive. They roll very TRUE. Read the Hole-by-Hole tips and you will be privvy to some great course knowledge that honestly only the locals know. Not paying attention when the Starter gives you the run down... get the low down here.

As I said the GREENS were great. Really a nice. Second cut was helpful for the occassional hot shot to the green. They held your ball pretty well. Fairways were NICE. Very lush and you could get a nice square divot . No thin lies here. Bunkers are typical Oak Quarry. They have some sand but are typically hard to hit out of. Word of advice... do go in them. Or be prepared to give up a shot or two getting out of them. They are hazzards after all. Tee boxes were LUSH. Great course conditions all rolled in between a defunct rock quarry. If you ever have a chance to play Oak Quarry... you won't be disappointed. Pace of play was OK... typical fare for a tournament but well run. The staff was very helpful and attentive. For the money this course is a great value.

For me... it's not a long course but it is easy to lose a ball or three. Loads of ESA and Laterals. Play smart don't challenge the course unnessarily and you will be rewarded. This is not what you would call a Driver/Wedge course... you will use practically every shot and club you have in the bag and a great test of golf. Throw in superior customer service and I would have to say you have a winning combination. Definately a "Play it AGAIN course," in my book.

Service: The staff from cart Barn, Proshop to food and bev were all very pleasant and helpful.

The Course Conditions: The greens rolled well at a moderate speed. The fairways runs well and lush, the roughs weren't punitive, however, the bunkers could have used more attention but not terrible at all. teeing grounds were fine.

The Course Design & Layout: This is a very demanding course but good and fair to those disciplined to respect its challenging designs for risk & reward situations. Some of the holes are short but are severely protected. The longer holes are mostly down hill. Most of the fairways are generous. The par threes are long and protected, however, there are bailout spots in each of them to be able to make an up and down for par. Also, they are mostly playing down hill.

Aesthetic & Setting: The magnificent mountain rocks that had been mined for many years shows the strength and foundation history of this course as its bones. The emerald green fairways winds around the rocks and a few small lakes. When mixed with height and cliffs to cross land and make par to a signature hole, this will easily sepparate Oak Quarry from many others.

Many players, including me, have been used to the classic golf designs which is fine and always good golf. Playing Oak Quarry's Schmidt Curley design may just be the new classic in the modern golf designs.

In a course with great views for the eyes to feast, it my almost be enough to take your game away from you... almost.

Played in Greenskeeper event on 4/13 here. Course is very fun and greens can be very challenging. Great layout and course is in great shape with only problem spot to me the sand bunkers. Very hard and not enough sand for my liking. Greens run true but are very tricky to read but accept shots very well. Fairway and rough are in good shape as well with only one fairway in tough shape. The best part of course to me is the layout and scenery. I will be back from Vegas to play this course again because of the fun factor and the very good customer service!!
