Had the opportunity to play Soboba this week. First time playing this course. The course is in very nice to great condition. Sand traps had a good amount of fluffy sand. Greens were great and rolled true/ med-fast. Fairways were green and balls rolled when they landed. Rough was lush and balls were hard to find if you landed in them.. This did cause some delay. One of the best conditions I've seen in any course in the Inland Empire. Long drive to get there but worth it. Great staff at the grill as they were bombarded with orders but kept a good sense of humor. I suggest staying the night at the Soboba Casino Hotel if you have a long drive.

Played Soboba on Fri & Sat 6/11-12. A tale of 2 different experiences... Friday was perfect. Tee off at noon, 4 H 10 min round. Sat tournament, started 2 hours late due to some funny stuff by the course. They claimed that a tourney group that was supposed to tee of at 6:30 arrived late, pushing back all times. I call BULL sh-t ! Did they take a bunch of$$ to add a tourney in? Maybe. Or did they book 2 tourneys at the same time in error? Nobody knows, but their excuse was BS. Period. Sat tee off at 8*30 pushed to 10:30 (no notice), 5H 40 minute round. Too the course: Grass Range. Newer comfortable carts, nice GPS. Tee Boxes are good, pretty level with great grass coverage. Fairways are great, plush, but still nice roll. Rough was anywhere from 3" really tough to some dryer shorter stuff that was easier to hit from. Other than some Gophers, real good. Bunkers nice soft white sand greenside. Fairways bunkers firmer but nice. Yes, I was in many... Greens are great. Fast but still hold an iron shot. What I wish all greens could be. It's in the middle of nowhere, but the newer Hotel/Casino is pretty cool. I just described a course in great condition. It's not just a resort course, it has some bite. Water, deep bunkers, doglegs ect. Great course in my opinion. Will I go back after the crap on Sat? Depends on if they do something for me when I send in a complaint. Unfortunately doubtful.

Played here Friday 4/16/21 with a 7:10 tee time. My friend and I were able to get out a little early. The greens had been recently punched but it wasn't noticeable except on holes 16 & 17 which were pretty sandy. What can I say about this course. It's beautiful! Manicured fairways, soft sand, penalizing rough and water that comes into play on 10 of the 18 holes. This course is a "MUST PLAY!" Staff were friendly and clubhouse amenities were impressive.

Greens- 8/10 rolled true but were a bit slow due to the aerating
fariways- 9/10 green and lush (a few divots that weren't fixed that my ball landed in)
rough- 10/10 green and penalizing as it should be
Sand- 9/10 soft and fluffy, 1-2 of them had some small rocks in them.
tee boxes- 7/10 Most were in good shape. a few on the back 9 might need to be moved as I saw some damage starting on them.
Water- 10/10 clean and clear and did not smell.
staff- 10/10 friendly, courteous and helpful.

Played Presidents day at 7 am. Thankfully there was nor frost delay. First ones out. Course is nice and lush with the overseeding. Greens are in great shapes. front bunker on 4th hole had a lot of sand but easy to get out . Beverage cart showed up a few times. Food at the turn was great. I recommend ordering around the 7th hole to minimize wait. They have a great discount for military and first responders.

I got out of work a little early on Tuesday so I headed out to Soboba. I played this course 3-4 times while the course was being renovated and the casino was being built. I have not been able to get out there to check it out since the course full opened back up with the new back 9.

Check-in was a breeze. I booked the time online and paid when I get to the course. There was someone at the entrance of the pro shop that takes your temperature before you are able to enter. The lady at the pro shop counter was very friendly and welcoming.

The course was WIDE open. I did not have a single person in front of me the entire 18 holes. Behind me was a group of college kids that were walking so I basically had the course to myself. I don't know if this is normal for a weekday afternoon out there but I was not going to complain.

Layout - The new layout is awesome. I have played the front 9 quite a few times and nothing has really changed with these holes. The revamp of the back 9 was outstanding. Holes 13, 14, 15, & 16 are all new (to me) and very well done. The short par 4 13th is one of the best holes I have played. There are a ton of ways you can play that hole. It was really well thought out. These new holes really are spectacular, with the water all around and the brand new hotel/casino in the background. I tried to take some pictures but it really doesn't tell the story. Impressive.

Greens, Fairway, Rough - All were in great shape. The greens were smooth as can be an fast. The greens have a lot more slope in them that it looks like. Fairway and rough was in great shape with great coverage (especially for the dead of winter). The par 3 tee boxes were a little chewed up but that (obviously) is to be expected.

Traps - Some of the best traps I have ever seen. I was only in a couple but it looked like every trap was in the same condition. The sand was fluffy and consistent which makes it really easy to hit shots out of. Since it was so fluffy, you do have to watch out for the "fried egg" though. The sand will eat your ball up if it comes from a very high trajectory.

My only complaint with the course is the mud hens or whatever the heck those birds are called. There are literally a hundred of them on every hole that has water (which is quite a few). It was so bad on the 14th hole that I actually picked up my ball and didn't even putt out because there was so much poop on the green. Also, I did see that if you want a cart to yourself, you will have to pay an extra $25. Just wanted to throw that out there if you are one that likes to ride in a cart by yourself during these COVID times.

Enough about the negative. Well done Soboba on the golf course. The conditions were excellent. The new layout is excellent. The customer service is excellent. The price is a little steep at $75 for a weekday afternoon round but we all kind of expected prices like this when the casino was opened and the new renovation was complete. Because of the price and the distance from me, I won't say that this will be a regular on my list but it was a great experience and I am glad I made the drive out. I will be back.

Played in a 8am tournament on Saturday (11/14). Our tee times were moved up half an hour, so people were scrambling to warm up and get on the tee. I was really impressed by the great condition of the course, I really don't expect a course to be this sharp in November. Greens were fast and true, you definitely wanted to leave your ball below the hole. The sand in the bunkers were soft, deep and fluffy.

The layout at Soboba is imaginative and fair, with room on the fairways if you play the correct side. Some holes have water that will sneak up on you, with shaved fairway and rough areas that will allow a ball to roll into the wet stuff.

The beverage cart came through 3 times on a gorgeous day for golf. I think my club will continue to put this course in the schedule.

Played the blue tees at Shoboba Shprings resort with co-workers for a rewarding MGF outing. My first time back in over 25 years, for the rest, it's been a few years...why oh why have we not been back here sooner!? This place is in very good condition right now. We were scheduled to tee off at 12:20, but a tournament earlier delayed us by 20 minutes. We still finished in just under 4 hours and with plenty of light. We passed the tips tee box on 17 and sitting there is a TM r5...we reunite it with the the backtracking owner so he can breathe easier and use it on 18.
The tee boxes are all level, healthy and cut right...and will easily satisfy those with tee setup OCD.
The fairway cut is great, very lush and a good balance between soft landings and run outs. Divot scalps showed only good turf health.
The rough was at a good level of cut, just deep enough to get your 'easter egg' hunt fix, but not so deep to be penal to most hackers.
Fairway and greenside bunkers are in great condition and just a pleasure to play from. My partners allowed me lie relief from deep footprints...come on golfers, at least try to fix your footprints with what ya got(no rakes) when bunkers are this nice!
The greens are healthy, roll med/fast, not bumpy and in good pin hunting condition. The greens alone, made today's round totally enjoyable. Foam in cups.
Good customer service, all grass range open, practice greens open, snack bar open till 4:30, drink cart around on each 9, good accurate GPS on carts, virtual marshall on cart screen for POP, and single rider per cart availble as supplies last.
The weather made us spoiled golfers in shorts and short sleeves in November. I birdied 13, and Ed birdied a few holes later, but he isn't with GK...so I still posess the BC. I highly recommend Shoboba Shprings right now. Cheers,

Played Sat 5/9 at noon. Course only taking tee times till noon. Green fee increased to $95. Course in pretty good shape, some dry spots out in fairways. Rough was mowed down, but still thick; tough to hit a long iron out of. Greens rolled medium; probably 9 or 10 on stimp. However, they were very soft, and best i can describe as spongy. You could see your ball bounce around a bit probably due to footprints near hole. While I usually think this course is one of the better in the IE, it certainly wasn't worth $95 IMO.

Rode the Blacks (6497/71.4/128) in slightly less than 4H with Kurator62 in our GK Cup match. The weather was in the mid 70's, clear and pretty calm, excellent golfing conditions. Tees were lush and only the par 3's needed divot attention. Fairways were lush and the few I hit were nice to play from. Rough was very lush and thick. Punitive because of the thickness, for me anything more than a 6 iron was not likely to produce a decent result. Sand traps decently maintained with thick, good quality sand. Greens were quick and smooth. Very few straight putts on these greens, alot of subtle undulations. Even though they do not have tiers or huge mounds, they are tougher than average and ANYTHING down hill today was a putt you had to baby and it still might get away from you. Good GPS on the carts. Decent all grass range, Customer service @ check in was excellent. No drink cart today. Very good layout in very good condition, highly recommended.
