Played 5/11 with fellow GK'er baomai. We ended up playing Stone/Creek. This was our first time playing this course as it is a JC Golf course and neither one of us are members of JC Golf. We were able to snag a deal on underpar for $59 so it was definitely worth checking out this course for that price. I'd like to start out by stating that our first impression of the course got off on the wrong foot. The Starter was very rude and not professional. His greeting to us when we gave him our receipts was anything but professional. Then as we proceeded to the driving range to hit some balls, we noticed that there were pyramids stacked up. We both grabbed some clubs and went to warm up. He came over and told us that we weren't allowed to hit on these and told us to go over 'there' to hit balls. We drove the cart to 'there' only to realize that the driving range had ended and we were on Creek #1. Now to the course review: Tees: The tee boxes were very nice. I'd say all but 1 or 2 of the tee boxes were great. The 2 I noticed that I didn't like were uneven but nothing crazy. Fairways: The fairways were in excellent condition. Rough: I thought the rough was good. It was about 3" thick. Greens: The greens were firm but rolled smooth. Definitely require you to hit your irons spot on in order to get the balls to check up on the greens. Sand Traps: I read rudyclub's review about not finding any traps and let me be the first to tell you that you were very lucky to not find any. The sand traps were awful. I'm being harsher than I probably should but since the rest of the course was in great shape, I was severely disappointed in the sand traps. They were rock hard and unplayable. Course Layout: I thought the course layout on Stone side was great. I definitely was penalized on a few shots for not having the course knowledge to play this 9. The opening hole is a par 5 with a severe dog leg left into the wind. I would say this is one of the hardest opening holes I've ever played. The Creek side was a little bland after coming from Stone. Most of the holes were straight away. The 9th was a good hole on Creek because it did have a good amount of water on it. Overall, since it's JC Golf, I probably won't play it again. The prices for JC Golf are a little extreme (i.e. Encinitas Ranch and RB inn). With courses like CrossCreek, RedHawk and Journey in the same vicinity and at better rack rate, it's tough to predict that I would play the course again.
