Played the Creek and Oaks nines on Christmas Day in four hours. The rain from the evening before made for wet and muddy conditions from tee to green. Many of the tee boxes were wet and very thin. The fairways were thin in patches and very muddy also - the rough was playable. Greens were in pretty good shape, even though a few were much quicker than others. The staff is always great and the new carts are better than almost any course around. Always recommended!

First group out on a Sunday morning, paid $67 from an email special, debatable if it was worth that rate. Frost delay so waited until 7am to tee off. Cart path only until 8am because of the heavy frost, looked like snow. POP was not an issue, 3 hrs with me and Tmath. Course is going through a fairly tough time condition wise. They painted the fairways, seems like that is becoming the norm these days. Temp green on the first hole on the Creek nine, which kind of sucks.

Greens were pretty good, probably the best part of the course, actually. Held shots very well and putted pretty smooth and they got fast when the frost and dew cleared up. Teeboxes were a mixed bag, some were good and others were pretty awful. Some were very unlevel, number 7 on Stonehouse was a joke, super unlevel, ball above your feet like a baseball swing. Fairways are dormant, but good coverage and painted green, had some roll out to them as well. Rough was fairly non existent, not very penal at all. Sand traps were pretty crappy, had to take a drop for casual water in one of them. Others were hard pan.

All in all, I don't think Tem Creek is worth the slightly high green fees that they charge. It is a pretty awesome layout and good challenge, they have an awesome stay and play package which makes it worth it, but we didn't do that package. my wife and I did the stay and wine tour package, a little pricey, but we had a great time.

My group played here yesterday with 40 guys. We have been coming each December for an overnight trip over the past 10 years and ALWAYS enjoy ourselves. Let me start off with service. It is hard to beat here. We were told the greens were scheduled to be punched and sanded 4 days before our arrival. I let them know our disappointment and they requested to the greens crew to delay a week so we could have great greens and they said yes! The greens were great, the tees were all level, the fairways were a little thin and patchy however they did use green dye to brown areas which made the course look much better. Hole number one on Oaks has a temporary green due to maintenance and the bunkers had an adequate amount of sand. The course is always a joy to play and with the quality of service given, I think is a must stop for any group wishing to stay overnight.
The rooms are very nice and the food and restaurant ambiance is great.

The course is in very good shape, but had a few faults. Tee boxes were OK, lush with some divots especially the par 3s, fairways were green with some brown areas, mostly where they were cut too short, rough was 2-3 in and very playable, the bunkers were thin and mostly dirt, greens were lush, fluffy, receptive, and too many had unfixed ball marks.

The faults - as mentioned, the ball marks on the greens, and bunkers not having enough sand. The Worst - POP was 5 1/2 hrs, we were behind a 4some playing from the blues, hit them fairly long, maybe 65% fairways hit, some they took a long time looking for balls. We had to wait on almost 90% of our shots, me being the short hitter would hit my drive or approach shot within 80 yds to see it they would pick up the pace, did not help. At times they left the cart 50-60 yds from the green and would putt out and run back to get it.

No marshal came around, being that it's a Resort they probably shy away from bothering the out of town clients. POP could easily been 4 1/2 to 4 3/4, had fun playing with my buddies but did not enjoy the round.

Traveled down Temecula way for a small tournament at TCI and stay at the lodge, playing Creek/Stonehouse. PoP was around 4.5 both days (Sun & Mon). Creek course was flat and easy to play, not too many hazards other than a couple of ponds which really do not come into play except on the 9th hole. Greens were super soft in very good condition other than a few poorly repaired ball marks. Fairways full with good cover as was the rough. Bunkers had damp tightly packed sand but still would allow the club to move under the ball rather than the dreaded 'bounce'. The Stonehouse nine runs thru the gullies and hilly areas and is a much more challenging track, especially if you are not hitting fairways. A couple of less exposed to sunlight greens were in distress with most areas marked GUR (always nice to see) but most were rolling true and were in as good as condition as the Creek. A few 'tricked up' holes and some overhanging trees that need trimming would be my only critique (notice I didn't say complaint), otherwise I really enjoyed the layout and remoteness of this course. Would play here more often if it wasn't over an hours drive, but it's a nice inexpensive alternative 'destination course' as compared to say a Torrey Pines or, to a much larger extent, Monarch Beach or Pelican Hill. We ate at the on-site restaurant, good food and nice views of the course. The room we had was quaint and priced at around 2 bills. I don't get out here much but I was really shocked at how Temecula and Murrieta have been built up in the past several years with new construction still in full swing. Could be a decent retirement location. Hmmm.

The greens were a bit slow and spongy probably due to the large amount of rain that we had over the weekend. Fairways were lush and the rough was cut down a little. Prime playing conditions!!!

On day 2 of our TCI weekend, was supposed to play the Creek and Oaks 9s, but we were fortunate enough to play the Oaks first, then the far superior Stonehouse 9 on the back (wrote that review yesterday).

Oaks is also currently in excellent condition and a nice track that sits comfortably between Stonehouse and Creek in terms of challenge, elevations, etc. put it this way - if you want the best of TCI, play Oaks and Stonehouse. Creek, in comparison, is 'meh.'

Oaks has plenty of green fairway, greens are just as good of shape as rest of course, and the only complaint would be the sand traps as they had been perhaps too heavily watered and played pretty thick.

Was very content with the whole weekend and look forward to another trip down very soon.

Played the Stonehouse and Creek 9s today at TCI. Almost as much contrast as front and back at Tierra Rejada. It was a beautiful 4th of July day and I was expecting a crowd and playing partners as my GF does not play. Nope. I had the whole course alone to myself (1pm tee time) outside of catching a group on 9 of Stonehouse. Course is in great shape - greens are quite fast (had tough time w/speed all day), tee boxes (save for a few on Creek 9) are in perfect shape, sand is nice, and rough is just right. Fairway coverage is probably 90% exceptional for the greens fees here. It's very much worth the trip. Stonehouse layout and scenery is pretty great, and you won't need your driver off every tee. Lots of elevations and tricky cuts, but all very well orchestrated. Be advised there is no GPS (carts could use some updating) so I think it would be a tough section without knowing the layout in advance. But overall, really loved it. Creek is less spectacular in terms of its holes and layout, but for the most part in equally fine condition. It's flat and has some short(er) holes - think Los Amigos wearing some extra makeup. It's a good scoring section for your game. Will be here tomorrow as well starting on Creek again but then hitting the Oaks 9. Can't wait. And heard it'll be even less crowded ... why is a mystery to me. But can't complain when you finish a round like today in just under 3 hours.

The course was very busy today, but the staff was on top of it and kept the groups moving. The course is in excellent condition from tee to green! We played the Creek and Stonehouse nines in about four hours. The greens have almost totally healed on Stonehouse from the recent maintenance. The whole experience here is just great with some great views. The Stonehouse nine takes your shot making skills when compared to the Creek or Oaks nines. Always enjoyable and recommended!
