Fairways were cut tight and in fantastic shape. Greens were really in great shape. My only complaint was how firm they were. It was very difficult to hold approach shots with anything less than a wedge. It's tough to play US style golf (thru the air) on greens that release like this. You couldn't run them up links style or the ball would get caught up. Land em on the front 1/4 and you'll be ok.....red flag,...have fun! I've heard from several that long terms plans may be to remove holes on one or more of the 9s....I'd seriously cry if that happened. This course is such a gem....get out there and enjoy it!!!

Overall the course was in great shape with the exception of the Oaks greens which are still a bit sandy from the aeration. The sand traps seemed a bit on the thin side. Also I hate it when the maintenance workers are watering the greens in the late morning just as we're hitting our approach shots... some balls stuck with a splash and putting on them right after is a challenge... we had to put up with this for 5 holes... wet sandy inconsistent greens. Other than that it's a always enjoyable. Like any course avoid the aeration...

Very busy morning at TCI, but still finished round in a little over four hours. We played the Oaks/Stone combo. Both sides were in very very good shape from tee to green. The fairways and rough were lush and green. The traps were still hard and thin on a few holes - but well maintained. The greens are in very good condition but not holding shots as good as they have in recent rounds. This course brought me to Temecula decades ago when it was named Rainbow Canyon, and I ALWAYS enjoy coming back to play here every time.

And now to complete the trifecta! Had an enjoyable day with Abbacat on a beautiful Easter Sunday afternoon at Temecula Creek. Booked through the JC Resorts website and secured a 2:00pm tee time for a $45.00 rate, which was an outstanding deal when you realize we managed to squeeze in 26 holes.

No need to go into much detail here as Wendy basically covered it in her review but I will endorse the observation that the Stonehouse Nine was in markedly better shape than the Creek Nine, most notably the greens. Very similar in appearance to the putting surfaces at Marine Memorial, they were nice to putt on and held well-struck shots.

Although not slated for aeration until May 10, there were a couple of greens on the Creek Nine that showed evidence of a recent punching and the fringe on #2 was hard as concrete. Speed-wise, they were definitely slower so it took a little more force to get the ball to the hole.

Another sore spot was the poor condition of some of the tee boxes, with #6 on Creek being the worst. Not sure if it's a lack of sunlight due to the surrounding trees...a similar situation prompted the removal of some trees and the addition of a new rear tee on #7 Stonehouse a few years back...but the tee box was muddy, torn up, and extremely uneven.

With on-course traffic being relatively light, we were able to move right along and also indulge in some extra practice shots during the round. To me, this is the best way to work on certain aspects of one's game, especially around the greens under "real-time" scenarios, and I welcomed the opportunity to do so. I like nothing more than playing 18 holes and then finding a remote green out on the course to practice my short game.

Ownership appears to have its' main focus on the lodge and restaurant facilities these days, recently completing a $2.5 million renovation to the dining area and they're not quite finished. Admittedly, this is a very nice 'Stay & Play' destination and the quality of the food...as well as the pricing...is definitely "gourmet" level. It's also worth noting that the service and friendliness level I encountered from the moment I set foot on the property was second-to-none.

However, it would be a shame if the powers-that-be have elected to forego investing the dollars necessary to keep the golf course on that same level. Perhaps that's next on the agenda, as the Oak-Creek-Stonehouse Nines offer three distinct challenges and should be on a par with the other features of the resort.

I played yesterday, 3-27-16, joined by 1PLUS1. It had been about 4 years since I last played there so I was looking forward to trying it again. We started out on Stonehouse. I remembered this being my favorite of the three 9’s, with its elevation changes and challenge from the wind. The course was in very nice shape. The fairways had good coverage with minimal divots and the greens had relatively few ball marks. After Stonehouse, we played Creek. The conditions there were not quite as good, with a couple of the fairways being thinner and patchier, the greens not as smooth, and the bunkers had no sand to speak of. We started the day at 2:00 and played until after dark- but not due to slow POP. The courses were wide open all day and we were able to play many extra balls, enjoying the extra practice opportunity. The Cork/Fire Restaurant is a great place to relax after a round. I look forward to playing there again.

Played the Whites on the Oaks/Stonehouse combo (6304/70.2/127) as a single using Forelinx in 2H, 45M. It was in the high 40's when I teed off and in the low 60's when I finished, sunny and calm. My 1st time playing here in approximately 20 years. I had forgotten how beautiful the clubhouse was and the course was even better than I remembered. The topography is constantly up/down rolling hills with fairly large, thick trees lining every fairway. Even though it is not far from major streets and the freeway, most holes feel secluded with no homes around and native areas ringing most of the course. Would be a challenging course to walk with the rolling hills. The tees were decent. Fairly level, adequate coverage and most divots properly maintained. The fairways were very good, lush and nice to play off of. The rough was decent, more winter thin than the fairways but still good coverage. A few areas were deep and lost ball rough, but many areas were not that hard to play out of. The sand was generally good. I was in several bunkers and only 1 was thin, and they were all well maintained. The greens were nice. Medium fast, firm but held approach shots well. However, chips would release and that needed to be accounted for. Chris in the Pro Shop was excellent to deal with, got me out 15 minutes before my scheduled tee time. I was extremely impressed with the grounds crew. I teed off @ 6:15 and was done by 9, and they had the bunkers raked ahead of me and I did not putt on a single dew covered green. Several different workers shut off their mowers when I was playing close by, something that was noticed & appreciated. The Oaks 9 is more wide open and less picturesque than the Stonehouse 9. Fun course, I got lucky today hitting driver on several holes that after seeing the course again & refreshing my memory are not really driver holes. Next time there will be at least 3 holes I hit 2I off the tee. Really fun course in + condition, definitely recommended.

Played Oaks/Stone House this morning using Forelinx, first off the tee at 6:30. Paired with three other guys, two of which were members/guys who play there regularly and the other happened to be a fellow Forelinx member. POP was great at 3:55. We played the blue tees.

Conditions are very nice. The first green is not good, but one of the members I played with said that green has been messed up for a while. It puts a little fear into you that the greens are going to suck, but rest assured the rest were really nice: Medium-fast, smooth and accepting of full shots. Fairways are lush, green and cut short. Rough was lush and maybe 3 inches deep, not too penal. Tee boxes and bunkers were both good. Some spots of the course have that green tint dye or fertilizer, but nothing too distracting.

I'd never played Stone House before and I loved both sides today. From what I remember of Creek, it's the least interesting of the three nines. The two I played today are both very beautiful and very much to my liking: elevation changes, doglegs, beautiful surroundings, very natural and secluded feel. 23 photos here: https://goo.gl/OQHTfM
