Took advantage of their free birthday deal here, which is hands-down the best offer in SoCal now with other courses having restrictions, mandatory cart fees, etc. Here, if you are on their e-club list, you get to play absolutely free on your birthday. Can't beat that! I got out there early and ended going off first by myself at 6:00. Had to deal with a lot of maintenance, but no worries there, especially since they are doing an amazing job.

The conditions were exceptional. Tee boxes great. Fairways pretty much perfect. Rough a little thicker than I've seen it in past. Not long, but the ball really settles in and it's a tough recovery. Greens ideal, rolling true at medium/quick speeds. I'm sure they'll get even faster as the day goes on.

I've enjoyed myself on every visit to Crossings and it will be on the top of my list any time my birthday rolls around. The staff was very nice and the facilities are excellent. The back nine is always a blast with some really unique holes and insane greens. The 15th green is already a circus clown nightmare (in a sadistically good way), but they had the most evil of all pin positions today—on the very back right on top of a tiny little shelf. Yikes!

Played 7/24/15 with a coupon deal for two; my first time at this course and won't be my last as this is a fantastic layout with great staff and facilities. The course is in prime condition with beautiful greens and fairways and good bunkers (I was in but one, first-timer's luck)
The opulence of the clubhouse and facilities is staggering-check out the slate-type rock construction. Beverage-cart, proshop and food service staff very friendly and available.
What I can't forget is the imaginative design and layout of the course; it's challenging yet playable and oh-so-beautiful. Watch your downwind club selection-it's easy to overshoot, and the holes into the wind, though difficult, are still playable if you adjust for it. This had to be an expensive endeavor as everything seems deluxe quality. I absolutely loved every minute playing this course and intend to make a return visit soon. Our deal was a steal: 2 for $69, it is easily worth double that. Try to visit this layout soon, you won't regret it.

Played Tuesday using unlimited voucher and got in 36 holes. Haven't played this course in 2.5 years, and was very glad I made the drive down south to give it a go. they have certainly invested some money in the course and the infrastructure.

Tee boxes - lush and level. Top notch
Fairways - pretty good, some thin spots but mostly decent
Bunkers - mixed bag, some fluffy, some just a thin layer of fluffy sand with clay underneath.
Greens - medium speed, mostly smooth, odd breaks near the hole often...1 putts were hard to come by today.

Staff was friendly, Cart service came around a few times. Starter very friendly and offered up tips.


I had a great time Tuesday. Tee'd off around 6:50am, finished the round and had a beer in the club house and then went out and had a nice 2nd round.

Tee-boxes: OK condition. Varied from hole to hole with some having been chewed up throughout the day and others seemingly fine. Played blue tees but twilight round always means they will be at the worst state condition-wise

Fairways: Overall not great. I understand the drought is making a lot of courses re-think how they go about watering but some of the holes had fairways that were completely dried out with bad lies. No single hole had great green fairways but at least you could hit out of all.

Rough: Good condition. Not overly penalizing (leave that to the ESA) but enough trouble on some holes to make you really think.

Greens: Great condition. Save for the people who don't fix divots, this was the highlight of the round condition-wise. Green and with plenty of smooth and med-fast roll all day. Undulation on some of these greens is very tricky and pin placements today required precise putts.

Bunkers: OK condition. Really depended on which bunker you were in. Fairway bunkers seemed to have sand that was reminiscent of beach sand while greenside bunkers were white fluffy sand (except hole 9 had weeds in it!).

ETC: Love the GPS on the carts. Staff is extremely friendly. Marshals out and about trying to keep pace (finished in 4 hours, would have been 3 but the twosome in front of us were slower than slow and they took one of our tee-shots). A GN deal on this course warrants play here. Love this course.

Free Round #2 on my birthday was a great experience. Thanks to the Crossing @ Carlsbad for a free round! Played the Blues (6467/71.0/129) in 4.5 hours on an overcast, windy weekday afternoon. Got matched up with Ron, vacationing from N.C., so we spoke the same language and had a great time. First time playing here. The layout was excellent, it reminds me of Moorpark C.C. near my home. Definitely not a beginners course, forced carries and mandatory penalty staked hazards just off most fairways, very unforgiving course for any crooked shots. The tees were lush and very well maintained. The fairways were poor, the only part of the course that was not excellent. Many GUR areas, a mixed bag of hardpan, thin and lush otherwise. The rough was lush and generally good to hit out of. The sand traps were in excellent shape, very well maintained. The greens were flat out NICE! Firm, smooth and medium fast. Get the ball on the correct line and it goes in. Being above many pins was death, so proper placement of your approach shots was critical. The green complexes had many mounds and tiers, so chipping as well as putting was challenging here. I liked that you could go low, go high or play the slope of the terrain as you chose on many shots from off the greens. Everything about this facility was top notch, from the excellent large beautiful clubhouse to the cart attendants who picked up and dropped off your clubs out front before/after the round. No hassle on the B-Day round, got me right out and matched up quickly. Several people offered tips on the course &/or thanked us for playing. Outstanding experience, I would love to play here again.

Got my first ever birthday round in this morning, today being my birthday. Absolutely free and no hassle whatsoever, just a, "Have fun and Happy Birthday!". Had a 6:45 was sent out at 6:30. Course was in very nice shape, greens were almost perfect. Quite a contrast to the first and only other time I played here when everything was rock hard and balls would run off into bad spots consistently. This morning it was lush and very playable, even later when it warmed up and dried out the playing surfaces played very nicely . . . don't hit it around the edges here as most holes are surrounded by "environmentally sensitive" areas. Most landing areas are quite generous except for #10, but that is a risk reward short par 4 that I hit 5 iron on, to about 110 from the whites, as it is drastically downhill. POP was quick until we ran into what the marshall described "potential pros" . . . and they were really going through the motions. As it was a man and a woman, I thought I was watching a joint LPGA/PGA tour group, sloooooow. We still finished in just under 4 hours. Not a course one could walk very easily with long drives between holes and up and down tall, steep hills.
This round definitely changed my view of this course and will be back if I can find a decent deal (or next year on my B-day!) . . . hear that Jay-Rey? Gimme a call sometime!

Played just before noon on 27 March. Called on my way home to see if they had any openings and the gentleman on the phone got me out right away! Staff was very helpful and friendly throughout. I was impressed by this well-run and classy organization.

Crossings puts a premium on target golf, especially when it's dry. If the wind is up, I can see it being downright difficult to play. If you're having trouble hitting the fairway, bring a few extra balls. As for today: Tees, fairways, and greens were great! Very few bare spots throughout. The greens were absolutely pure today, and held solidly struck shots.

The only knock I have on the course is the bunkers. There was no sand in them. Out of the ~10 shots my partners and I hit out of them, 9 of them were bladed because there was no way to get the club under the ball.

All in all, the positives far outweighed the negatives and I will definitely be back.

Note: For those that like to walk, the course only allows you to ride. If you're a single, you'll be paired up with another player in your group in the same cart.

I should first say that I really enjoy this course ! There are a number of really fun holes. Conditioning was about what I expected. Fairways/greens both good, not great, but acceptable. Only in one bunker and it was fine.

I called late yesterday and was told the morning was slow, in fact the first group was at 7:15, however when I arrived at 6:15, after paying and checked with the starter, was told there were already groups out on the course, and on the first tee and fairway??? Told they were booked solid ?? I skipped 1 and went to #2 so I could get around quickly. Spent the entire round dealing with maintenance. Not the most positive experience despite my feeling about likiing the course. Oh well, sometimes things just don't work out !
