Played for the first time after Olivas debacle on Saturday - what a treat! Quiet, cheap and challenging, it may be the best deal in the area.

Course is a mix of parkland, links and resort style holes (parts of the back nine wind through a housing development - at times on the front nine I thought I was back playing golf in the midwest, and not just because the pace of play was so good.

Wide open off the tee, the approaches are more tricky to big undulating greens where you definitely want to know which tier to land it on. Also, a little course knowledge would help as there are places around most of the greens where you don't want to miss.

Tees - great. Fairways, a bit dry and thin (which is ok when the wind is 30 mph constant as you need the roll in either direction!) and sand was a bit gravelly but very full and consistent.

Greens were softer, nappy and bumpy a la LA muni style - mostly poa by my estimation. Perhaps still coming back from aeration. I found them hard to read but it is good they were slowish in such relentless wind.

All in all, a real find which for the price (24 bucks), speed ( 3.5 walking), weekend tee time, and variety of shot selections is hard to beat! I will put it on my list for courses to play on the Oxnard plain.

Awesome course. We got out at about 4:30PM (Saturday 4/30/11) and finished 15 holes before it got dark, despite the howling wind. The conditions were great, coolest hole was the finishing 18 island hole. So glad we skipped 15-17 and hopped on this one. Wind can be a factor so you don't want to hit it short. The coolest thing about the experience was there were houses next to the hole, and there were kids watching and cheering us while we attempted to get on. I felt like Phil Mickelson, if Phil Mickelson ever needed a driver to go 150 yards. Overall the fairways were in great condition and also the tee boxes. The greens weren't very fast, but enough to make it fun when you're pressed for time and to finish. The guy at the pro shop was super nice as was the starter. Definitely would be back to play both courses again.

Played in 4hrs 15 minutes on a weekend mid morning. Greens are incredibly fast and rolled wonderfully. I always enjoy playing out here and I certainly wasn't disappointed this time.

Played on 12/4 for the first time here. Heard good things about the course and I was happy with the round that I have. Fairway was lush for this time of the year. The rough was in great shape. The best was the green, fast and rolled true. I just had to tap for it to roll couple feet. Played in just under 4. 5 hours. Enjoyed the track, opened enough that you could smack every shot, but had some a lot of color going up and down. The water killed me in the back 9. I will definitely come back and play here again.

Played the Vineyard yesterday and had a great time, the great thing about this course is that everytime I have played out here, it is empty and I have never finished in over 4 hours, granted it is during the week, but finished in 2 1/2 hours. Course is in great shape and the greens are firm and fast right now. I dont know why they charge less for this course than the lakes because I think it is a better course and has more lakes on it than the lakes course. Great fun and walkable, if you can get a ride from the 12th to 13th tee. No cart girls out there, so be ready. The fairways are nice and firm and the traps had plenty of sand in them. Tee boxes have some spots that are not level, but I was always able to find a level spot. Wish this couse was in San Diego so I could play it more.

Played RiverRidge Golf Club Vineyards yesterday, 10-28 with longball23. This was only my second time playing the course since they added new holes when they expanded to a 36 holes facility. I must say I like the new holes more and more as well as enjoy playing the original holes of RiverRidge…including the dramatic island hole as a finisher. I believe the Vineyard is much under-rated from a difficulty standpoint by the USGA. This course demands excellent ball striking, accuracy and superb touch on the greens. There are many OB and forced carry water hazards to content with. You have to be on all parts of your game to score well.

Thursday, I found the course to be in great shape. Greens a bit soft but rolling mostly smooth. I like that they are soft now because as temperatures cool they will firm up meaning they should retain some of that softness through winter allowing approach shots to hold. The fairways were still lush…very lush in fact. Come winter, they will get thinner with the bermuda going dormant but for now, excellent. Tee boxes were level/lush, rough was about 2 to 3 inches lush and sand traps well maintenance with good quality sand. The Pace of Play was outstanding. We teed it up at 1:20 and finished in just under 4 hours. The service in the proshop was very courteous and warm. In my opinion RiverRidge will probably only get in better shape over the next few weeks. Come December I bet the greens will be incredible. I certainly recommend playing this course right now.

Played the Vineyard Course this afternoon with Johnny GK...twilight...just finished before dark....greens are in good shape, they have a mix of holding irons well from the fairway but are putting medium to quick and are a blast to play..I thought they have improved from when I played the course a couple weeks ago. I noticed more grass coverage on the fairways from the recent rains and thought that the fairways were in good shape. The fairway bunkers are very easy to hit out of with long clubs and have a harder type of sand in them which is great...I needed that today as I was in 4 fairway bunkers. The rough just along some of the fairways was grown up about 1-2 inches and makes some lies tougher. The greenside bunkers have soft sand and are in good shape. Tees are lush with enough coverage. We played our round in 4 hours as a twosome....not many people on the course today....The Vineyard course will test every part of your game...tee accuracy, mid irons, short game...etc...good challenge and always a fast paced round as the marshalls are on it out here
