I had asked for time off from work and loosely planned a Vegas trip in conjunction with the original dates for the GK Laughlin weekend, so when that got pushed back to my daughter's birthday weekend, I decided to stick with my plan and head to Vegas for a few days of golf. Started today with a 10:30 TeeOff.com "Deal" time at Legacy for $34. Check in was smooth, paired with a local couple and we started a few minutes early. We weren't slow, but the groups in front of us must've been fast, because by about the third or fourth hole they were nowhere to be seen. We caught up a couple times where they were in sight, but only had to wait on them a couple times. No one pushing us from behind, so nice overall POP right around 4.5 hours. Picture perfect cloudless warm winter day with only a slight wind.

Conditions are very wintery. I knew going in that the course wasn't in overseeded, pristine condition, but the practice putting green made me a little concerned when it evoked memories of the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay... very thin, dried out and bumpy. Thankfully the greens on the course weren't like that. They were good not great, mostly smooth, about medium speed and more firm than soft. I hit lots of greens but made very few ball marks. A few of them seemed watered during the day or somehow seemed to retain more water than the others. Fairways are very dry, dormant bermuda with a colorant to give them a green hue. They are pretty thin and then there are little green tufts of grass that pop up occasionally as well. Visually, it's not very pretty but plays okay. The rough is longer dormant bermuda, maybe about 2-3 inches deep but not very thick in most spots. I wasn't in any bunkers but my playing partner was in many and said they are much improved from the past. He felt they recently added sand to all of them. Blue tee boxes were fine, sometimes a little beat up and also a little tilted, but decent enough.

This was my first time here. Decent layout reminiscent of many mid-tier residential Vegas courses like Aliante, Canyon Gate, Siena, maybe a little Revere. The houses here are really stacked on top of the course. (My playing partners must've hit 6-8 houses.) I really liked how several fairways had step-like features where the fairway elevation would change 4-5 feet with sudden little slopes. The par-4 11th is an extremely difficult short par 4 where after a forced carry off the tee, you hit to a very shallow depth, tabletop green with a big swale in front and off the back. Especially with the very thin, dormant conditions, it requires an exacting approach shot or else it won't hold the green. Rack rates I saw were well over $100 and absurd for the current conditions. For the $34 I paid, I was satisfied and glad to finally check this one off the list.

I played here last Friday, about 2 weeks after over seeding, so it was "No Fairway", carts are allowed on the rough contour, with was fine. I don't mind to allow a course to grow back into top shape. The track look good, and the greens where okay, a bit slow, but again, they just re opened and the course in growing back into shape.
I have always enjoyed this track, it is tough, but fair. I will play it again..No complaints!

Teed off here for round 4 of the day at 325PM. Perfect POP around 1:30 allowing me to finishing my prior day's round at Sunrise. After a little wait/confusion locating a golf cart, I jumped out ahead of the afternoon members match playing through 2 singles on a totally deserted course. The front 9 was full of members when I left. The course itself is a fun setup with some challenging terrain/desert features providing a perfect Vegas desert golf experience. The course was transitioning out of dormancy and had a lush brown/green turf cover to hit from. Native areas past the secondary cut grabbed balls and kept them from bouncing out into the great unknown. The greens were receptive and rolled smooth and true. Tee boxes had lush coverage and the overall contrast between turf and desert was well defined. The course is a good value compared to the other nearby courses and probably get a larger amount of play because of this. Peak rates are slightly higher than ideal for the course, but summer rates will be a great deal.

Decided to try this course for the first of a few round while in Vegas. Got a tee time at 152 for $75. Not the best deal and after playing the course probably not worth the full $75. Check in was smooth and was able to hit some balls on the range. Range was disappointing. Had us hitting off mats that they just watered. Therefore every shot with an iron caused a nice spray of water, Not very nice. The range is large and there are two nice putting greens.

On to the course. Having never played here before I wasn't sure what to expect. I was hoping for a desert course and didn't find it here. Houses surround the course, nice houses but houses still the same.

The conditions were pretty good. Some tee boxes were pretty beat up but level and easy to put a tee. The fairways were lush and cut recently. Gave some extra roll on good drives. The greens were the best part. Smooth and somewhat fast with a few ball marks. Sand traps were very disappointing, hard and then.

Overall the course was fun and I enjoyed it. My only real complaint is the cart path. I don't know what happened but it was the worse cart path I have every been on. If you have a loose tooth or fillings I would avoid this cart part.

The greens where a bit slow, because of the over seeding and they are letting the greens fill out. The customer service is great: as you pull in to park, they have a shuttle cart picking up you and your bag(s). free range balls is included with green fee.
I can not write anything negative about the course, maybe for the NAYSAYERS, I'll write..."it sucks we had to be cart path only, I had to walk too much!!"...there!

The customer service was terrific from check-in to the starter on through to the cart girls. Everyone was absolutely wonderful. But since I was there to play the course let's get on with that.

I played on Sunday and the wind was up with that 20mph gentle breeze. No big issues remembering we are in the desert. The tee boxes were fine for the most part, no major issues but some were a little hairy and needed the mower. The fairways were in good shape but the rough was not pretty. It had many clumps of grass and was very inconsistent. It did look like many types of grasses were in different stages of growth or remission. The bunkers both fairway and greenside were decent but they did have way too many rocks and pebbles in it that I like to see or feel should be in them. The greens were fairly good but rather slower than I remember for this location. The biggest drawback here this day was the pace of play. It was slower than slow. There was a wait on every shot and sometime two groups on some tees when we pulled up. Didn't see anyone policing or monitoring the pace of play all day. I suppose on a Sunday this time of year you are not going to get the 4 hour round. Overall I had a great day on the course with good company and enjoyed the track.

Played 2/15/2015 at 8:00, temp around 70° with a little wind. Been many years since I played Legacy. It's located in Green Valley and easy to get to as it is about a mile off the 215 freeway. Good parking (although not quite enough with overflow parking on a grassy area), very nice clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant. Although there are mats, the range is large. Nice putting area, but the practice green was quicker than the course greens. Range is adjacent to first tee with one person doing double duty as range ball guy and starter guy. POP was good, cart service was very regular and course marshal made the rounds. Ice chest and ball washer on carts. Water jugs on the course. Wet towels provided. GPS on carts, but the same crappy system they have at Painted Desert. The course greens were annoyingly slow. All bermuda and pretty smooth. Would probably be better after using a lawn mower and a roller. Pretty evident that the greens have been spray painted to add some greenness to their color. But the painted area was at least dry. The fairways are acceptable. They are cut to a uniform height, but have some brown spots. Rough was terrible unless you like dormant bermuda. Bunkers are generally deep -- some have sand and some don't. The teeing areas are noticeably bad. Very few flat spots to stand and very little grass to hit from. Layout is good. Many fairways set below the level of the tees and greens so shots toward the rough roll back toward the fairway. Housing lines most fairways and is quite close -- lots of netting and protective screens. The weekend OB card rate is $55 which is higher than the course conditions warrant. Just an OK place to play, but I wish they would spend a little money on maintenance.

Teed up early Thursday morning with GKer sixpez plus a couple cool local players at The Legacy course. Great group and we had lots of fun. The Legacy recently overseeded Tee to Green so the course was still playing wet and the greens pretty slow. It was my first time playing the course and I had heard great things about it for years…maybe I had too high exceptions…because I felt the layout was rather straight forward and did not have much variety. It was a tough course in general and the 10th hole with the tee boxes shaped like card suits was neat. Good course, don’t get me wrong, but not as interesting as expected. The course sure looked green but I noticed very thin patches of grass in most fairways and even thin patches on the greens. Most of the greens did not have thin patches and rolled smooth but painfully slow at times. The bunkers were very firm and needed more sand. In general the course was in good shape. The best thing about it was we only paid $49 to play because of the OB Sports Card sixpez had and as such if it was only $49 for me to play it again, I would.

Got the GK Vegas weekend started here early Friday morning. I used my OB Sports card to get a nice $49 rate for me and JohnnyGK. I thought it was definitely worth that price. Our tee time was 6:48. We were second off the tee, paired with another twosome. The group ahead was super fast and we never saw the group behind, so we enjoyed a nice sub-4 hour pace.

The course is in good overall shape as stickboy noted earlier. A few little problem areas here and there (more thin areas on the back nine it seemed), but mostly green and lush throughout tee boxes, fairways and rough. The greens a tad too firm and rolling a tad slow (especially early when wet), but mostly smooth surfaces I thought. Bunkers really damp and seemed way to thin/firm, so that was easily the weakest element.

Enjoyable overall course. Nice residential area. Won't blow you away, but decent mix of holes and just challenging enough. A few tricky risk/reward holes and others that let you take aggressive rips without much trouble to get into. Probably the least "memorable" course of the trip, but still pretty solid on every level.
