Played an afternoon round. Walked on and got a 2:20 t-time. Course is in nice shape, except the sand traps (ROCKS). I think I liked this course better than the Palmer course. Started behind a 2sum and they let me play through on the second hole and it was smooth sailing after that. was in the car by 5:30. Had a great time with a little wind at the end.

Rode the Blues (6360/71.5/138) in 4.5H with Nick and Mike on a GN "Hot Deal". Finally found a pm "Hot Deal" I could use all my $10 vouchers on. First round this week that the wind was not a huge factor, just breezy, around 65 and partly cloudy. Lots of elevations changes. This course would be practically unwalkable because of the climbs to many tee boxes and the 1/4+ mile distance from some greens to the next tee. Numerous holes where you played downhill, two of the par 3's were VERY downhill. No tricked up holes, but numerous tight holes and there is trouble everywhere, hence the high slope rating. Tees excellent, almost immaculate. Fairways excellent to play from, lush and green. Rough was mostly dormant Bermuda. Very playable, not high but a huge difference from a fairway lie. Sand traps were below average. Too thin and too many rocks in them. Nothing tricked up about the greens other than the firmness and quickness. They putted very nice. Medium fast, smooth and firm. I saw the lines well on these greens. Excellent customer service, they were running right on time. Cart gal around numerous times. Nice, all grass practice facility included in your fee. Comfortable carts but no GPS. This is a layout that you can only be aggressive in spots, otherwise anything not far offline is going to result in penalty shots. Course knowledge would assist greatly, as there were 3 holes with water hazards that could be reached where you could not actually see the water from where you were hitting the shot. Overall, highly recommended, I liked the layout and would enjoy playing here again anytime.

Played here on 6/30 as well...2nd round of 36 at the Oasis facility for the day. Paid 55 for the first and 25 for the 2nd round.

Pace of Play - 7/10. We were told that there was no one out and no groups going until 10:30. We teed off at about 10:15. As I mentioned before, we play sub-3 hour rounds generally, so we ended up catching up to people on hole 5. It was a two-some and it was clear they didn't want us to play through so we hung back but if definitely made the round longer. We actually even stopped and went in a local open house while waiting for a backup to clear on hole 16.

Fairways - 8/10. Little thin in some spots but we've played on worse before so no issues here.

Rough - 7/10 - same as the Palmer. Little thin in some areas and weedy in the desert areas. No issue finding or hitting your ball out of it for the most part though. No complaints here.

Greens - 6/10 - in all fairness - we knew they punched 10 days before and the lady in the pro shop let us go look at the 1st green before deciding we were going to play the second round. You could definitely tell that they were punched recently but they were healing up. The remnants of the aeration were visible and were just big enough to alter putts.

Boxes - 8/10. Good to go here...always could find flat land to hit off of...little thin on a few but nothing to write home about.

Sand - wasn't in any bunks, so wouldn't feel right commenting on this one.

Overall - another staple in the rotation for us that will remain there. We like this one just a little more than we like some of the other local courses (falcon, palmer, palms). Highly recommend this one if you get a chance to play.

Day two of my weekend golf trip, found us playing The Oasis Golf Club Canyons Course. First let me say this if your not a fan of big houses probably occupied by people with to much money this is not the course for you. I happen to like looking at some of the ways to much is spent. Playing the course at just over 6400 yards was a refresher from the day before. Customer service is good and could have been excellent if not for the punk handing out cart numbers. What a total ass, with no people skills at all.
Everything here is green, fairways are lush and at times I found them to be almost moist. Not much roll so a low driving shot was the call for this day. Temps were warmer than the the previous day at just under 60 degrees. Greens are fair and rolled true but slower than I care for, maybe a 10 or a tad under. Little to no visible damage from unreparied ball marks or poorly repaired. Sand quality was good with only a few needing attention, most likely from the prevailing afternoon wind. Tee boxes were level with a few needing attention from divot damage, none were noted to be Unlevel. Its a nice play here and challenging for your average golfer, I think longer hitters would have a field day with the course, but non the less a good play, would recommend if you like houses lining the fairways views are still good and really some of the homes are spectacular.

Booked an amazing GN Hot Deal for Saturday, 11/11 about a month prior for my 5th Annual November golf trip to Nevada with sixpez. We had a 9:30 time and were sent to the tee as just a twosome, despite the tee sheet being seemingly full most of the day. We caught the group ahead of us by the third hole but pace was pretty decent, finishing in about 4:00. Ideal weather: mid 70s, sunny skies and little wind.

Course conditions are quite good. Greens were a little slower than expected and difficult to gauge the speed at first, but they were smooth and accepted full shots well. Overseeded deep green fairways contrasted with the semi-dormant rough. The fairway grass was nice but not as lush as it looked from afar... just a little patchy here and there. Rough was pretty fluffy and sometimes easier to hit from than the fairway. Tee boxes were good. I don’t think I was in a bunker.

This is a nice course that, unfortunately for it, comes with a dosage of Wolf Creek Envy. The course offers views of nearby Wolf Creek that make Oasis (Canyons) pale in comparison. It shares some of the same features of its famous neighbor but on a very toned down level, as the course winds its way through reddish sandstone hills. I think I actually enjoyed the course more in hindsight than I did in the moment. There are some really nice par 3s — three of which play severely downhill, which is fun. The downfall of this course is the surrounding community encroaching on it…lots of streets and tract homes diminish the overall aura of the place.

For the amazing deal we got, I highly recommend this course. For rack rate, I think your money is better spent elsewhere in Mesquite.

Itslikeimsayin and I played here on Saturday. Mark had found a great deal awhile ago (booked way in advance) that ended up being around $40 rather than the $100+ rates normally here and every other Mesquite course this time of year. The price went way up after we booked, so it seemed like a steal for us. We had a 9:30 time and teed off a few minutes early as a twosome. It really wasn't too busy on The Canyons side and they had an afternoon tourney on The Palmer side. We still pushed the groups ahead and waited on most shots, but finished in right about 4 hours.

The course was in solid condition for this time of year, about what I've come to expect in Southern Nevada on all but some of the more high-end courses (what we could see of Wolf Creek from Oasis looked super lush and made us deep green with envy). The tee boxes were fine. The fairways looked better from a distance than up close as the overseed didn't completely fill in. Kinda thin in some areas and fluffy in others, but mostly decent enough. The rough is semi-dormant bermuda. It was cut way down and easy to hit from. I was in one bunker and it was prototypical NV coarse desert sand with some pebbles. The greens were in good shape. They were firm, yet receptive on well-struck shots, rolling smooth at medium/slow speeds. Wish they were a bit faster, though.

First time for either of us here and it's a pretty good facility. The front nine is definitely more interesting than the back, though both sides have a few memorable holes in the neat canyon setting. It's a good course, but I'm sure glad we had a great deal because I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much at full price. I would put Canyons as a clear fourth behind Wolf, Conestoga and Falcon Ridge if ranking Mesquite courses I've played. I haven't played Palmer yet, but I believe that is considered better than Canyons by most. Hopefully I'll get back there next year and can find a similarly awesome deal.

This will be a "DRIVE BY" short review & I walked parts of the course! *This is not playing review due my health complications. As of this MORNING, the conditions couldn't be any better. MUST PLAY in my opinion!!! Confirmed by all the carts & groups sitting on Hole1# Group middle fairway,group on the greens, group just tee'd off Hole#2 tee box. I looked at some of the other Oasis Course (PALMER) holes & fairways and conditions seemed to be the same...on the back nine! I played this past weekend during my annual trip to Mesquite and it looks like there has only been one post since my last review. It's too bad because the course is great in terms of layout and conditions. I think most golfers would enjoy it. It definitely has the feeling of an oasis as the name of the facility suggests. Lots of green, lush grass and palm trees galore made it feel cooler than what it probably was. I played during the hottest weekend of the season so that was lucky. :/ Nevertheless, the course was fun and the staff did their best to make us feel comfortable. There were plenty of elevation changes and unique hole designs. Overall, the entire course was lush and green and well kept. The tee boxes were level and the greens were smooth and rolled true. I was impressed at the condition of the course considering the heat. I'll be out there once again next year!

Played 10/05 on a quick trip to Mesquite. The course is in great shape. The tee boxes were very lush, fairways are very nice, rough is not too penal. the greens were excellent. You really have to pay attention to the grain of the grass. Putting into the grain is very slow. Only drawback were the bunkers. There was sand in them but once you hit in them there are rocks right underneath. If you were in a bunker that gets a lot of play the rocks are visible. When I said the tee boxes were lush, they were almost too lush. They could have cut the grass a little lower. Great par 3s with some severe elevation change Very nice clubhouse with good quality food.
