First round of another marathon day today. Had a 6:39 tee time ($48 summer rack) and they sent me off first right on time. This course does get a lot of back nine play. I had to play through a couple groups, but thankfully not too bad after I made the turn. Another super quick round for this trip!

The course was in good overall condition for late summer. Again, looking a bit better from afar than close up. Tee boxes fine. Fairways soft and on the fluffy side (not all had been mowed by the time I fought my way through maintenance). Lots of rain last night, so everything playing very soft this morning. Some bare spots here and there. Rough pretty lush throughout with some inconsistencies. I wasn't in a bunker, but they looked decent. Greens were soft and rolling well at medium speeds. A few greens had some scattered dead/diseased spots, but only a problem on a couple of the holes.

Very enjoyable course with some excellent scenery, especially throughout the front nine. First half of back nine isn't as interesting visually, but then the course finishes strong with the last few holes. Some good changes in elevation and a fairly fun layout overall. Definitely one worth checking out.

Played 9/10 in the AM in beautiful weather. But it sure would have been nice if the course had notified GK of the recent aeration (W/Th) to the greens and maybe even me when I made my tee time? And of all things, they were holding the club championship that day and I cannot even imagine a course doing that with aerated greens one day prior. But to the courses credit, they were giving a $38 green fee (on a Sat AM) w lunch (a decent sandwich to say the least), so all was not a total loss. The rest of the course was great. Tee boxes clean/level; fairways in great shape; sand traps raked and fluffy; rough at about 1/2 inch. Customer service top level. Beautiful scenery and a really enjoyable course to play. I would not hesitate to go back.

I went on a family vacation to Vegas and Zion National Park this week and squeezed in a round here on 4/7. Cart rate was $65. When I booked the time, I intentionally reserved the first time of the day (7:20) in hopes of playing quickly, and I asked if they allowed back nine only play that might slow me down at the turn. They said they do, but also said it shouldn't interfere with my pace. When I checked in, they said they were going to send another group off in front of my group because the other three at 7:20 hadn't checked in, so I asked if I could go by myself. They said yes as long as I didn't go too fast because the guy mowing the greens was only on the first green at that point. So everything worked out great on the front nine. I played quickly but not too quick, taking time to soak in the beautiful surroundings and take lots of pictures. I didn't catch up to the guy mowing the greens until No. 8, and I finished the front nine in about 1:20. As I was driving to the 10th tee, I noticed a whole slew of groups waiting to tee off for back nine play. The pro shop attendant said I played too fast and they book times until 8:40, so the back nine played much slower than the front. Another single joined me for the back and overall POP was still good at about 3:45. Just a bit frustrating after such an ideal experience on the front.

Anyway, conditions are very nice here. The greens are smooth and about medium speed. Visually, they are very blotchy with different colors of grass, but they rolled fine. Neither soft nor firm, somewhere in between. Full shots released somewhat. The fairways were great, very green and lush. Rough was also lush but not as uniformly maintained as the fairway with some clumpy areas. The tee boxes were good; no complaints. I was only in one bunker (twice) and it was compacted and partially wet. There was very little sand on the top layer.

Layout-wise, this course benefits from amazing scenery on a handful of holes that are literally adjacent to awe-inspiring red rock mountains and canyons complete with natural waterfalls. It's one of those courses that is hard to separate the layout itself from the scenery. The holes with red rocks in the background were simply stunning, and others felt very pedestrian. I really enjoyed myself and would definitely recommend this course. One minor nitpick is that the hole diagrams on the signs didn't seem to match the routing of the holes very accurately.

I played this on 10-4-15, the 4th stop on my weekend golf marathon. A couple I met the day before recommended it as I wanted to play a course with really good scenery WOW!!. It is just stunning. It overlooks Zion National Park, in the red rock country area of Utah. I arrived very late for my tee time because I didn't know they were in a different time zone. The guy in the pro shop was very sweet and promised he'd get me paired up with someone. While I was waiting I overheard some talk about the chance of lightning as it was drizzling a bit and there was some thunder. Fortunately that all blew over and the sun came out, shining on the gorgeous red hills and black lava rock. I've never taken so may pictures! I did get paired with a very nice couple. We had a really fun time. The course was in truly immaculate condition, from the velvety fairways, the smooth fast greens, to the clean, white, fluffy bunkers. The rough was a bit long so it was hard to see the ball, but surprisingly easy to hit out of. The only thing that wasn't good was they brake pedal on my cart. I should have asked for a cart change but I didn't so I struggled with it the whole way. We finished in just under 4 hours. We never waited and didn't even see anyone behind us until the 16th hole. I played really well. I LOVE this course. I will absolutely play there again!

The front nine is amazing with all the views but I think the course lost some character in the back nine where it went through the neighborhoods. The homes seemed very close to the course and judging by all the netting protecting them I may be right

Someone besides me has to had played this course...

NOT ONE other GK'er has played this very Scenic, well conditioned, easy to get out & play,tight fairways, book a deal DIRECTLY from the Golf course website even in high season!

Parking lot has been repaved, so recently the chalk lines are still fresh!

We love playing this course.....IF you haven't played you are so missing out.
Add the scenery of the surrounding St. George area.

Since my previous review only rec'd "2" likes, all I'm going to ADD is this:

Hole #4: A NEW entire GREEN,bunkering & rough has been added IN ADDITION to the current green location which is one of the toughest greens on the course!

A yardage guide is just $2.00! You need this since there are no GPS units on carts. LOOK for recent pics to be added to this course so you have an idea what you are missing out. (Throw out the idea this course replaces WOLF CREEK).

Pace: "SINGLE" player in motorized cart (less than 3 hours) caught a two ball (husband & wife) on the back nine, still they were moving along too!

Practice Range/Putting green: The first thing that catches your eyes from the practice range is the background Red Rock scenery. With wet weather threatening, I $pent little time putting only, no warm up on the range! Greens were fast & rolled true just like out on the course.

Customer Service: Everyone of the staff is friendly anytime I've been here...you won't see any handlers to load up the cart for you which is OK by me. After my 3 hr round, I still had plenty of daylight left to play the front side holes again. I asked the Staff, no problem just be back by 5:15pm (UTAH time).

Layout: OK, this is by no means a long golf course (6380), most Par 5's are reachable. Some drive-able PAR 4's but sometimes it might be better to hit to a number than face an very undulating green with a front flag stick location on #15. The secret to scoring here is to make sure you land in the appropriate spots in the fairway.

BE$T deal? $2.00 very simple yardage book (GPS units are no longer available on the carts) The yardage book gives you the layout & the numbers to KEY areas (bunkers/hazards). Holes #16,#17 & 18 have spectacular scenery, worth the price of admission which was a deal too! The final four out of five holes are definitely risk/reward holes. For those who have played the 18th, a rock formation has replaced the TWO left side bunkers leaving just the ONE bunker on the right side. However, the rough is thicker than I remember playing in the summer.

ROUGH: Average height about 3" inches but thick too.

FAIRWAYS: Almost perfect, I gave it a 9/10 rating, VERY GREEN conditions especially for this time of the year. My hat off to the Superintendent & their staff.

GREENS: 9/10 downright perfect! No ball marks, no un-repaired ball marks like I experienced once during the summer. Pace? Fast...rolled true, didn't take me long to adjust to the speed, glad I spent some time on the putting green.

BUNKERS? I was NOT in one all day...shocked me too! Thought for sure I'd find one on the Par 3's or on the long Par 4 holes. I did take time to step inside the bunker & notice the conditions, gave them a good rating.

TEE BOXES: I noticed some new Decorative fencing around the tee boxes, very nice to see these additions as well as some extra landscape (rocks) and dry rock bed's added along hole #7 and a few others on the front nine. All markers are well marked, having the $2.00 yardage book helps too.

For "ME", this course continues to be a favorite of mine, I like this layout! I KNOW there are other choices in Utah, but when I only paid $30 vs $100 in prime time season, couldn't pass it up.

One other note, Hole #4 green SEVERELY slopes back to front and with a front flag stick location, you must be precise with your approach yardage number!

Course conditions were just about perfect throughout. Greens rolled smoothly with some of the rolls being very fast. Tee boxes, rough and fairways were consistently good with no bad lies to be had. Bunkers were firm and playable.

Customer service was excellent and the driving range has the most beautiful backdrop you can imagine.

Two things: All of the par fives are reachable because they're short (check scorecard), and the final three holes are absolutely gorgeous!
