This is one of my favorities in San Diego county. I love the flavor of the two distinct nines. If you can get by on holes 10, 11, and 14 without much damage you have done well. It takes a while for ball marks to heal on the greens but the ball rolls true out here. I finally figured out that driver is not needed on 18. There is just too much trouble on both sides of the fairway. I like the cozy atmosphere here. Rounds don't take that long and people will let you play through. I told my wife about all the different bird houses you see in various locations on the golf course and now she wants to play here.

I played here a year and a half ago. But I seemed to enjoy this course better the second time around. The conditions everywhere were great. It is tough to judge the wind in the afternoon due to the nearby hills. This short layout will test your course management and ball striking skills very well. fore!!!

$14 on Thursdays is the only thing good about this course. The greens are decent but the rest of the course is not. The fairways are dried out and rough contains dry spots, this grass, that grass, "my hair, your hair." When I speak of rough, it is the areas near the fairway and not areas by the houses. Areas near houses is just dirt and I have no problem with that. But I expect, when I am in or close to the fairway, to get grass and not ground.

Unbelievable; It took 5 and half hours on a Tuesday to play this easy course. I was disappointed with this and the condition of the greens. The marshall is useless. I saw him hiding behind a bush doing nothing. I will not play here for a long time. Golf should NOT take sooo long to play 18 holes. The regulars who play Los Lagos at Costa Mesa muni and now this course do not give a hoot about pace of play by getting around the course in 4 hours 15 minutes.

The fairways and greens are great great shape making this course one of the best for your money. I never get bad vibes from any of the staff and the people who play here don't play unusually slow, respect the course, and don't have an attitude. The only hindrance for me to play here more often is the distance this course is from my house.

With the economy suffering it seems that managers at numerous golf courses are saying lets just focus are attention on the fairways, greens, and tee boxes and forget, (And I mean forget!!) the rest of the course as far as maintenance goes. This is the third or fourth course I've played this year where this is true. (Hesperia... what a mess, Glen Ivy and another I can't think of) Warner Springs is definitely one of them. You have nice greens, ok fairways and tee boxes, and the rest is just (at) *%&$!()^% plain and simple. weeds dry grass wet spots gophers dirt long grass this grass that grass....The bunkers are in horrible shape as well. We did enjoy the seclusion of this entire resort, however.

Well, What a nice inexpensive golf course. If this course had more length you would think you were playing a private facility. I was very impressed with the nice condition of every aspect of this course. The layout is short but tee shots are vital for scoring here. I was having a great day when I found tree trouble that cost me dearly on 3 holes. The greens will hold even a Top-Flite XL or an Ultra golf ball from the 1980's. They are that soft. But you get a very true roll on the sneaky fast greens. The greens are somewhat large for such a short course, but each has its own unique shape providing interesting pin placements. I will play here again soon.

I played here about 15 years ago. It was not a very good course back then. Now it has a new layout with only a few holes remaining roughly the same as back then. This is simply one of the best conditioned courses in the Coachella Valley. It is very forgiving off the tee on most holes but the challenge comes to you on many approaches and the par 3's on the front nine. I only saw a threesome on the course. After golf I went to Lampost Pizza in La Quinta and ,wow ,was that pizza good! I even had some for breakfast the next day.

Nowhere in all of my years of playing golf have I experienced such a contrast between the condition of different areas of a golf course. The good was the greens and tee boxes. No problem there at all. The fairways where good but a little long. The layout is mature and challenging demanding well played tee shots. THE BAD-The rough was in absolutely horrible condition. There has not been ANY maintenance at all in these areas surrounding the tees, greens and fairways. I have never seen so many gopher holes on a course; some even in the fairway. Every hole had at least 5 gophers running around! Yes, 5!!!!!! If you were just off a fairway or a green you could get a hard pan lie or a ball buried in thick grass, or clover leaf grass, or flower grass, or in a gopher hole. It was a joke. Despite the great greens and tees the more holes I played the more I disliked this place. The bunkers were not good as well. What is needed is a mountain lion to kill the gophers and cattle to graze in the rough. If you come out here avoid this place and play Green Tree!!!

If I could give 6 stars for worth the green fee I would! This is a very inexpensive but very nice golf course. It was only $15 to walk on Tuesdays! The holes at first don't seem hard from the tee but if you spray it a little you will more than likely have to negotiate a tree or two. You will walk and walk and walk if you walk this course. All of the holes are separate from each other by houses. A twin of this course is the California Golf and Art in Sun City. Green Tree is in better condition, however.

These fairways are so hard that you become afraid of hitting down on the ball because you might break a wrist. I did see some effort to water them for more grass but what they really need is a serious aerification with large holes. The soil is very very compacted. The greens that although have ball marks that are slow to heal are in good shape and roll true. Getting the line is always a challenge on these greens. The tee boxes are in excellent shape.

The course was in very good shape yesterday. The fairways had some dry spots but other than that not bad condition wise. Layout wise, that is another story. I will not play in my yearly outing in May any more unless they change venues. There are a few goofy holes, the par 3's are way too short, they had the white tees at the red markers on several holes, and the fairways almost overlap each other. I will miss the fun but I have had it with this poorly designed golf course.
