Always look forward to playing Marshall Cyn. I never tired of seeing the deer in the fairways, just an added perk to playing here. I have to agree with the prior review that the greens are just way too soft (and slow) One of the best features of this course is the challenge of the greens. When they are firm and faster; it makes this course play entirely different. Fairways were for the most part acceptable, with decent coverage. Several tee boxes were pretty chewed up.

However, for the price using the senior discount, it's such a great deal. Add the scenery and wildlife and it makes for a fun time

Played this course for the first time ever on Thursday. Despite my all-but-non-existent short game that day, this place has instantly become one of my favorite courses ever. An often challenging but fair layout, beautiful scenery, great staff, good pace of play, serious greens. Local knowledge is definitely worth a stroke or 2 per side as this is not the usual grip it and rip it public course. The greens are quite sloped and are a good ways back from being punched 10 days ago or so, but I never figured them out this first time around. The greens were soft, and I went from full-on plugging a ball on my tee shot into hole 2, to leaving putts 6 feet short, to having it run way past the hole. It may have been my highest 3-putt total on any round in recent memory, but that's mostly familiarity. I'll get it next time, and the deer didn't seem to laugh at me too much as they looked on. All in all, it was a great day at a great course. If it wasn't 130+ mile round trip from me, I'd play here at least once a month.

Played MC this morning and all greens have been aerated and a heavy layer of sand on all greens. Temp greens on the back nine.

Played this morning. Early dampness and fog to start but after a few holes only the dampness. Course is very lush and though damp the fairways do give some roll out and even the greens were fast. I find this course tough when it is damp but overall we had no issues with tee boxes. Traps were playable. Fairways had good coverage and gave good lies. While the greens were damp all morning, they still putted fine and with some speed. Good customer service at check in. And for $33 and cart for Sr not bad. And yes all the deer were out and enjoying the course as well. They even had mountain lion in area signs around the course.

Out early at one of my favorite LA County courses. Love the scenery, the wildlife, and the general layout. Senior rate makes it a real bargin as well. I must admit I was a bit disappointed in the overall condition. Too wet! I appreciate with the recent heat they want to keep the grass alive, but there has to a limit to the amount of water you want to put on the course.

Greens were slower than usual, which is disappointing, because the challenge of these greens when they're quick, makes the course only that much more fun. It it me or the wet fairways, because the course seemed to play extra-long. Probably both! Still always enjoy this course, because it offers some interesting holes which do not beat you up. Recommend to anyone who has not played here, but hopefully they'll let this play dry out a bit.

Morning tee time at MC. Check in and first tee very organized. Fairways were very wet providing little roll, rough was up and also juicy and wet. Traps were on the crusty side. Greens were on the slow side they had been mowed but some clippings were left on the greens. White tee boxes were chewed up. Gets very warm here so I can understand the watering but had a lot of mud balls during the round. POP was atrocious due to a group that had multiple tee times that were very slow. Good news spotted multiple deer around the course with their little offspring.

First time playing at Marshall Canyon and I came away impressed. It's not the longest course out there but you need to be accurate off the tee and for many holes, it does not require a driver at least for me.

A particular aspect of the course that most stood out to me was the greens! they were incredible. very fast downhill but very slow uphill. quite the stark difference

the layout of the course was very good, there were a couple of holes that you can be very aggressively on your tee shot or play it back to a safe distance. I went aggressive on a couple of holes and it paid off for me but my partners tried and failed a couple of times losing their balls.

Never had known about this course but i would come out and play here anytime.

Played early as usual. One of my favorite LA County courses. Love the views, the deer, the setting, and the variety of the holes. Senior rates make it a real bargin as well. Since I walk, did not have to deal with the bumpy fairways referred too in the last review. Granted, there were numerous areas of mud, but since we never have sun anymore in Southern California, things never dry out.

Greens were decent, not a quick as I'd prefer. Overall conditions are about what you expect here. Playable, but not great. Having played here frequently, was not expecting more. Staff was as always friendly and accommodating.

Played today at 11:33. First time playing here. Course is built on side of foothill with beautiful canyon views. The greens were deceptively tricky with most putts breaking away from the foothills. Speed was 8 on flat putts. Fairways had good coverage. Rough was thick and there was mud all over the course. The terrain was super bumpy for your golf cart. Tee boxes were treacherously uneven. Sand traps were thin and bare. Layout is super quirky and tight. Cart girl came by numerous times and customer service was good. POP was 4:45. Will not return for a while. San Dimas ,nearby, is on better shape and better layout.
