Looking for some place where I would not encounter frost, so what better course than Los Verdes. I had some concerns that it might be too crowded and I would not get out quickly, but turned out not to be a problem.

As prior review states, greens are excellent right now, in fact the entire course is looking very good. Few areas in the rough, but that's always the case here. Staff was great, price ($16.50 for senior) is a steal. Every time I play here, I appreciate living in Southern California !

Played today in a nice POP of 3 H. Course is in great shape, presently. Tee boxes are all level/clean. Bunkers are very playable. Fairways are green and providing good lies and roll. What little rough there is, is around the greens, but manageable. Greens are fantastic and chip/putt well, in addition to being very speedy. Customer service excellent at all levels.

Played yesterday in a great POP of 3 H. Course is in good shape currently. Greens are firm, fast and chipping/putting just great. Fairways have good coverage and provide good roll and lies. Rough is evident outside of fairways and around some greens, but is manageable. Bunkers were all cleaned and playable, heard no complaints. Tees boxes excellent. Customer service was excellent at all levels. Be advised, cafe is undergoing remodel for several weeks. Service will be available in the back banquet room, temporarily.

Tee boxes are all clean/playable; fairways still have good coverage (lots of rough outside of fairways presently) and providing good lies, as well as good roll; bunkers are fine and playable; greens are running fast and are in great shape. Played today in a great POP of 3.5 H. After last weeks rain and maintenance, the course is in great shape. Tee boxes clean and playable; fairways have very good coverage (and several areas are now seeded and growing grass in many fairways) firm, with good lies and roll; bunkers are all clean and playable and heard no complaints; virtually no rough, since crews came in and mowed; greens were just terrific (firm/fast). Customer service was excellent at all levels.

Played today in a nice POP of 3.5 H. Course is very dry at the moment. Fairways are hard and the ball rolls out very well, but you can get some occasional bad lies (especially in the favorite "wire" grass). There is rough outside of the fairways/greens that is sticky and hard to find your ball in (hopefully the mowers were taking care of that today). Tee boxes are good, but you might find a few hard spots when teeing up. Bunkers all appeared fine and heard no complaints from others. Greens are still in nice shape, chip/putt very well and they have some speed to them. Customer service excellent at all levels (big thanks to Dennis today). Overall conditions are fine for a good round of golf.

Played today in 3.5 H. Course was much friendlier today, as the weather was much nicer. Greens were receptive and chipped, putted great all round and were very fast. Fairways were much easier to play from (provided good roll) as they were not hard from over night cold. Much more rough on the outside of the fairways and around the greens, which can be problematic. Heard no issues from any sand play and the bunkers all appeared in fine shape. Tee boxes were all just fine. Customer service was excellent at all levels.

Played yesterday in a nice 3.5 H POP. Weather was cold all morning (not one of your nicer S CA days) and did nothing for the improvement of course conditions. Fairways were hard and did not soften up, thus you ended up with tight lies all round. Tee boxes were very good throughout. Sand traps were not their normal soft sand and heard complaints all morning. Very little rough and they seem to be dong more tree cleaning (wonderful view now from 11th tee box out over the 17th green). Greens were very good for putting, but not for holding shots, as they played hard all morning. Customer service excellent at all levels.

Played on Saturday, December 9. They had put a top dressing of sand on the greens sometime this week, but it did not affect play. They were running well if not as good as the week before. The sand was little evident on the back nine, indicating to me that they started there.

Overall, the course was in pretty good shape. I like the fact they are regrowing grass in some of the areas they let go during the drought. Hopefully by this spring, with a decent rainy season, the course will be more lush around the edges. We started about 7:00, ten minutes late, and finished in just over 4.5 hours. We waited on most shots. Still, a gorgeous morning only marred by the cloud of smoke rising behind Malibu from the Thomas Fire.
