Played today in 3 H. Got off early as the sun was coming up, so it was a little wet to begin with.Tee boxes were all clean and no issues. Fairways provided good lies, but little roll (until later in the round) to start with. Bunkers were all clean and heard no complaints. Greens were damp to begin with (so little bounce) but chipped/putted just fine (but many divots needed fixing, due to lazy golfers). As the round progressed the greens got faster. They have opened up the new men's bathroom (good news). Hopefully the restaurant will come shortly? Customer service excellent at a levels.

Played today in a POP of 3.5 H. Very quite, due to heavy fog and mist. Course is nice and green, with the cooler weather and fog. Found the fairways to have good lies, but very little roll. Bunkers were damp from fog, but playable. Tee boxes were all fine. Greens (while wet most of the round) looked fine and putted well, but slow. Customer service was fine at all levels.

Went back out today, after 2 weeks away, after reading last review (6.3 vs 3.1 mine) and comments from playing partners, who had played previously, when I did not. I will address the greens first. Found them to be clean/mowed, devoid of fungus and visually very nice. But they were soft and putted slowly (that comment was not just mine), in part due to overnight dew/watering and became faster towards the end of the round (I like the fast greens of L V and hope that I see them soon?) Tee boxes were all in great shape this week. Fairways today were green and provided good lies all round, but they did not provide roll, due to wetness and were beginning to dry out by the time we reached 17/18 ( I love hard fairways better than soft ones? Just my preference). No issues with sand traps on the part of anyone. Very little rough, but what was there, was playable and effected ones shot (like rough will do - so stay out of it if possible). I personally wish they would provide another location for the temporary restaurant. At present, it causes a lot of unnecessary congestion IMO. They also, should bring back the portable toilet trailer which they had in the parking lot, as there is only 1 bathroom (for men) available and it is not large enough for the many patrons. As many of you know, I have written many reviews. Today was the first time, I have been spoken to about a review, from a member of staff. Suffice to say, I totally understand and accept his input, about what I wrote, 2 weeks ago (which he felt was too critical). What I have learned from this interaction, is that sometimes we don't really know the many reasons, as to why conditions on the course that day are like that? Perhaps the Pro Shop can inform us of some unexpected maintenance, should that be happening that day? But, I will also (in the future) take the time, to ask some questions before I leave the course that day, to determine the reasons for unfavorable conditions, so that I can write a fairer review.

Played Sunday in the Men's Club tourney. Early tee time but the public groups before the tournament were slow. 4.5 hours POP was too slow for that early.

Played Sunday in the Men's Club tourney. Early tee time but the public groups before the tournament were slow. 4.5 hours POP was too slow for that early.

The course was in decent shape. No sand or other evidence of any work on the greens. There were some discoloration/swirls around the edges like maybe they were going to get fungus but the greens are uniform in lushness. They were relatively slow though. Medium at best, easily the slowest I have seen them in a while.

The fairways were fine, the rough hit or miss as usual, and the bunkers had relatively new sand that was nice to play from. The tee boxes were merely okay, with number 12 being not okay. It was really chewed up. Otherwise the kikuyu was pretty thick on the tees.

It was more humid than usual, but a nice day to be walking on the hill overlooking the ocean.

Played today in POP of 3.5 H. The course, IMO is in the worst shape I have ever seen it. It is very apparent that the recent heat wave in P V took its toll? Greens were sanded yesterday (and being watered today) and they are in terrible shape. Evidence of previous fungus is on every green (they putted lousy). Fairways are a mix bag, with many brown areas and were for the most part, very wet and very few good lies. For the first time, I witnessed tee boxes that were in bad shape. No comments on the bunkers, as I was not in any, nor did I hear anyone complain. The restaurant, which I believe began a remodel almost 3 months ago, is still unfinished. They now have an area for food outside of the pro shop (not where I would want to eat). The bathrooms in the locker room are still closed. One bathroom available inside the banquet area. Customer service was adequate, not excellent like normally. This is a course I have played on a continual basis for the last ten years. But it will be sometime until I read a good/better/best review, before I go back.

I took a friend out here to play on 7/19/2018 since it was last minute and I saw tee times open in the afternoon. I booked the 2:30 time for two players and joined two more guys on the first tee right on time. That was about it though, over three hours later we finished 9 and played a couple more before packing it in. Too bad really, the course was in real nice shape especially the greens. The rough as stated by many is a real mixed bag of crappy grass but that is mostly overshadowed by the awesome views and let's be real....hitting fairways should be rewarded and missing should be a challenge. Recommended yes but get out early

Enjoyed the first time off Monday morning. Teed off about 5:40am, just light enough to play. Obviously pace of play not an issue as we were the lead group. Our walking foursome played in just under 3 1/2 hours - never waited but also never held up the riding twosome behind us.

I have been playing here since I moved to California in 1970, and I can not remember the greens ever being better ! They rolled wonderfully, were some of the most receptive greens I have ever played. (A couple of players in the group NEVER fix ball marks because quite honestly they never make them), but todays every shot checked up or in a few instances, backed up! Nice ! I am super impressed with the condition of these greens, far better than many higher end courses I play including, sad to say - Coto

Fairways had lots of grass, which did not allow the usual run out I am used too when playing here. The rough, as noted in the last review is just horrible! Basically bare dirt. Not in any bunkers, but they appeared OK.

I am just blown away that I can play this wonderful course, in great condition, with spectacular ocean views for $16.50. Incredible ! While it's not Pelican Hill, for 1/20th of the price, it's a no-brainer for me.

I consider Los Verdes my home course. I'm part of the South Bay Public Link Golf Club that's based out of Los Verdes and play there many times during the year.

I consider Los Verdes my home course. I'm part of the South Bay Public Link Golf Club that's based out of Los Verdes and play there many times during the year.

I've recently played 7/1 and 7/4 and came away with mixed feelings. The greens were solid (maybe a little slower than I expect them to be), fairways are solid, layout is always a challenge even more so when the wind picks up.

What I've been frustrated about is the rough. Just about every hole, the rough is dead outside of the fairway which means the ball that misses the fairway will roll and roll and roll. Especially frustrating is hole 16, the past 3 times I've played I've layed up on the par 5 only to have the ball run through the fairway and into the non-existent rough and if you're familiar with the course, you know the fence line that runs along the left side of the hole. If there is no rough to catch your ball, it goes straight to the fence line earning you a penalty stroke. I know I should probably hit the fairway more but some of the shots aren't bad enough to incur the penalty you get from the non existent rough.

I also know the water situation prevents them from watering those areas properly but it's a sore spot for me.

Played early on Father's Day, June 17. Pace of play was typical, about 4.5 hours, starting about 6:30 am. Cool morning with it misting on one hole but otherwise perfect walking weather. It was decently clear out there with several cargo ships heading out adding to a great view. Customer service was great as usual. I heard that they just started actual construction work on the coffee shop so that is not going to be done anytime soon (it was originally scheduled to be done June 2018). The cheerful staff at the concessions table they have aren't complaining but it definitely is not as pleasant an experience for anyone in terms of food & beverage.

They have been putting a good amount of water on the course evidently and the fairways and rough have responded accordingly. There is still a ton of dirt around the edges (which I always seem to find on numbers 2 and 14) but the fairways were excellent and the rough was longer than usual, except around the greens where they shaved it down more than usual. We had to look several times to find balls in the rough and it has been quite a while since that could be said about this course. I thought the course looked great in that regard.

I thought the greens (which look great) were a little slower than the practice green and were slower than I expected. They still rolled at a good speed.

The sand was below par. I hit bottom at least once (greenside #7) and the clay flying from others' shots indicated they experienced the same. Word is that new sand is on the way. Its not there yet.

Overall, a good experience and a great day.
