Ahh, such a love/hate with Los Verdes. Love the course, conditions are probably the best in years, but it took over 3 hours to finish playing the front yesterday. But... I’ve also experienced sub 2 hours 9’s here in the late afternoons. Played yesterday with a buddy at 3:22pm. Walked off #9 green at 6:30pm. Didn’t have time to play the back. Like I mentioned above, conditions are great. Tee boxes mostly flat. Fairways in great shape. Rough was your average LA County muni. Good in some spots, a little patchy in others. Bunkers we even decent. Good sand in the 4 or 5 I was in. The greens were great. Fast downhill, fast uphill (yes, I said that correctly), and always breaking to the ocean. Beautiful surroundings, nice ocean breezes....where’s that heat wave like across the nation? Only negative is POP, and it’s an extremely large negative.

I plated Los Verdes on Sunday, teeing off at about 7:30. It was really nice to get away from the blazing heat of the last week and visit the much more comfortable coastal cloud cover on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Conditions have been consistently good this year at Los Verdes. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are really good for a county course. The bunkers have the lighter white sand, which is USUALLY deep enough to hit a confident blast shot.

As always, there are a couple ever-present problems. Pace of play wasn't good (over five hours with a 7:30 tee time). There is also a ton of cow grass just off some of the fairways, and many exposed tree roots if one strays into the forest.

Customer service is great. Everyone I came in contact was cheerful and upbeat. Los Verdes is a fun golf course with beautiful views ... and it won't empty your wallet.

Out today early. Done early. Not much to add from Weber's previous post, about the course. I do enjoy the new coffee/restaurant remodel very much and appreciate the great service. Sad to not see the old familiar faces from so many years in the Pro shop. The personal service these days is not the same IMO and the learning curve needs to improve. My compliments to the maintenance crew on the great conditions. And to think, Janice Hahn wants to turn this spectacular course into a park?

Every time I play here I am blown away that I can play on this course for $16.50 considering the views, and quality of the course. Staff as always was great and getting out early eliminates the pace of play concerns. Best deal in Southern California (At least for seniors)

Got out early, played in a threesome (NOT a fivesome) and finished in 3:45! Starter got us out early. Tees, Fairways, Greens in good conditions, but the rough really inconsistant... Bare, patchy, or long enough to loose balls in. Tough if you can't shape your tee shots to your advantage based on the fairway slopes. Only in one bunker, groomed with plenty of sand. Great deal, well worth the green fee. Would play more, but tough to get to.....

Agree with 24hourgolf's recent review. Los Verdes is looking good. Greens rolled well, fairly quick and receptive. Fairways as good as I've seen them. The rough still sucks, so if you can play the slopes properly and stay out of it, all is fine. Bunkers were good, but struggled from them today.

Beautiful overcast gray morning, easy to play golf in. No issues with back nine play, perhaps because our walking foursome was kinda slow, took a touch over three hours . Nice to be finished well before 9am.

Played today under cool/cloudy skies. POP at 3 H. Course is in great green shape (best I have ever seen it) at present, but as the fairways are lush and were wet, no roll. But great lies? No doubt tho... Continue »

Played today under cool/cloudy skies. POP at 3 H. Course is in great green shape (best I have ever seen it) at present, but as the fairways are lush and were wet, no roll. But great lies? No doubt those who will play it when it is dry, will totally enjoy. Tee boxes were all in great shape. Rough outside fairways and around the greens was 1/2" and penal. Traps were all playable (no complaints). Greens were in terrific shape, though a little slow, due to moisture. The trimming of trees and intricate cuts around greens and trees, make the playing conditions much better. Customer service was just fine.

Played very early this morning in about 4:15. The course is in nice shape. I like the way they have cut aprons around the green and have grown the rough up. The rough was definitely a factor in places. Fairways as nice as I have seen them. Not much roll considering how comparatively lush they are. The greens though are slower than normal. Medium at best. Multiple putts left short in my group and some putts that are usually extremely fast downhill were noticeably much slower. Overall, the course is in nice shape, I just wish the greens were cut or rolled to the speed they have been in the past.

Today was a very cool and foggy round. Having played here so many times, it helped knowing the course layout. Course conditions were just fine, it was the elements that were not. Good customer service, but sad to see that many of the long established Pros/Personnel have been replaced by American Golf. Was told that the new A G policy is, Professionals teach, but do not work in the shop. OK sure?
