Played this course last Sunday, and it was KILLER! Played in just under 5 hours(which is great for this course). The greens were excellent! Rolled true and pretty quick for Rancho. The greens and pace of play were the best that I have seen in a long, long time. Fairways were a little burnt. All in all FANTASTIC!

One of my favorite courses from the tee because of the way it requires ball movement (mostly fades) and the classic style around the greens, which are protected by slope rather than hazards (not a single water hazard on the course).

The course itself is in good shape. The heat hasn't damaged the greens so much as the humans using them (lots of ball mark damage) and the fairways are bare in some spots, but mostly lush.

That said, who knew that there were so many bad golf swings. The first few holes are unusually difficult and slow down play quite a bit. Too many 15 + handicaps playing from the blue tees; you get all you can handle from the whites, my friends.

Overall, wouldn't mind seeing more beginners over at the par 3 or some sort of regulatory policy that prohibits bad golfers...

Played Friday (7/14/06). Put my name on standby list (7:30) and got out at 9:00. Course is in great shape, I just wish the pace of play was faster. You have to stand around on every shot, so took about 5.5 hrs. to play. I understand this is one of the busiest courese around, but if people would just play from the right T and play ready golf, the round would go mush faster. The foursome in front of us had ONE guy playing from the blues and I NEVER saw him hit the ball over 200 yards off the T, what a joke!

Boy it's been a while since I played this course. Needless to say I was wondering what took me so long. Course in GREAT shape. Looks like they just verticut the greens b/c the Poa and thatch were non-existent. Greens rolled true. Fairways in tip top shape. Rough not as thick and some bare spots under the trees. Course played faster than anticipated for one of LA's busiest courses at twilight. Pleased with course and speed of play.

Played Wed. , the fairways were being punched as we played. It must have been windy the night before because the fairways and greens were full of leaves and twigs. Still had a great time.

Rancho is rounding into shape for the heavy summer play. I just hope that they don't totally overwater it and let it play the way it is supposed to play.

For the price, this course is one of the best in southern california.
The course has a outstanding layout, big dog legs, fully grown trees, and good elevation changes!!!
