Got in the back nine yesterday morning. The course is fairly decent shape right now. The greens are slow to medium speed and mostly smooth, and are very soft right now. This is a tough course to play the back nine - first three holes are very demanding right out of the shute.

COURSE IN GOOD SHAPE.....WEEKEND GREEN FEE $28.50....BY FAR BEST GOLF EXPERIENCE FOR PRICE IN WEST LA....PLAYED AS SINGLE...ARRIVE 6:00....TEE OFF 7:30....FINISH 11:45....BEAUTIFUL!

Played 2/8. A little wet but overall in good condition.
The round took 4 1/4 hours from 8:30am. Not bad for Rancho!

was a cheap round ($28.50), but took way to long. 5+ hrs. fairways were brown & thin. greens were in pretty good condition. (a little to spongy & bumpy)

How can you not like Rancho! What a great course, difficult to believe that with all the play this course gets the greens were in as great condition as I've very seen them (I've been playing there since 1970) Golf at Rancho is as pure as golf gets, it's all right out in front of you, just have to make the shots. The only distraction is you have to be able to maintain your focus for over 5 hours. Otherwise, there is no better "bang for the buck" than Rancho!

While I think Rancho is a great course for the amount of play it receives, they need to pay more attention to the tee boxes.

Busy Muni deep in West LA. Even worse if you decide to play Sunday -- which we did. Was only able to play 10 holes in 3 hours. Not good considering it was on a 6-7 hour pace to finish. Too bad the sun sets earlier nowadays. Course in relatively good shape. Greens look a bit beaten up but roll for the most part pretty true. Please FIX YOUR DIVOTS. Tee Boxes need to be rotated a bit more carefully. Some areas here were over used to be kind. Fairways were in great shape. Few trees were trimmed if memory serves but for the most part stay out of the treeline. Mature trees are extremely hard to hit over -- much worse if you try to fly it over a few of them. Expect mucho lost balls if you hit the left side of fairway on 9. They don't pick up those balls so you have to sift through that stuff. Great course for mid-week play. Otherwise stay away on weekened.
