The course is in very good shape (greens, fairways, the whole package). I was in the third group out this morning, and we walked the course in 3 hrs and 10 minutes --a record for me at Rancho and a great morning.

Great course. Love to play and the staff is very courteous. This course is one of the cleanest I've seen!

This is a classic layout on a frayed beauty. What chaffs my hide are the unreplaced fairway divots. We need to do our share to keep this course playable. Also, if you want a positive experience then you need to have a tee time and get up early. I would not play this course late morning or early afternoon. Some should being playing the par 3 and have no business on a big course. Lucky, however, these yahoos like thier sleep and usually do not infest the course until later on in the day.

Was a mixed bag of tricks for my game. On the positive side took 4 iron on #8. A baby draw on a towering flight, came down soft, but released ten feet below the stick and my ball disappeared. Ace!!! Badabinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.

Greens are beginning to recover from the fungal infection (or whatever it was) but they're still mostly awful. Some sections of a few greens look pretty smooth, but mostly they're chewed-up, bumpy, full of holes and bare spots. Fairways are looking quite thin and bare in many areas despite the recent (and apparently mishandled) aeration. Sand, of course, is soaking wet all the time because they just never, ever, ever stop watering this golf course. My advice: wait until the week after the police/celebrity tournament in late May or early June. Rancho is just thrashed right now.

Rancho park golf course, Halloed ground? This is the crown jewel of LA muni courses. We seem to be diappointed every time we show up! Why ohh why can we not take some time and care to make this course wonderful? Storied past and with much tradition , will it be lost??? I hope not!!! Will i play it even though the staff is indifferent, never ever see a marshall do any work! Fix any ball marks lately guys playing rancho????? But for 22 bucks i guess you cant complan! When I have broken 80 here, only a handfull of times it makes me gloat for weeks. Putts are what matter here, and hitting from the fairways.

Two big negatives for this course are due to plenty of unrepaired ball marks on the greens and the slow pace of play (6hours). Marshall needs to do a better job of keeping the play moving. I did like the layout, however, although there were no water hazards that I recall, which are always fun. Overall this course has potential but needs lots and lots and lots of work.

I expected the 5 1/2 hour round the day before Thanksgiving, but not the horrible greens. Would someone please fix a ball mark!
