Played the Blues (6469/72.4/139) using Forelinx in 3H as a single on dawn patrol. The weather was cold but almost completely calm. 37 when I teed off, near 60 when I finished. I was 2nd off behind another single that I never caught and I let a single play through on the back, so it was almost like having the course to yourself. The tees are decent. More thin than lush with most divots already filled in. The fairways are better than they were but still basically hardpan. A few areas have greened up after the recent rain and they at least played better, not rock hard like they were before the rain. The rough around the fairways are also mostly hardpan. The rough around the greens is much lusher, mowed down and was usually good to chip out of. The green side bunkers are well maintained with high quality sand, but have inconsistent depths. I was in 5 and my lies ranged from a fried egg to a couple of thin lies. The fairway bunkers are hard packed and good to play except for an abundance of rocks. The greens were fairly smooth and putted medium speed with few ball marks. Firm but held approach shots well. No beverage cart, which isn't a surprise considering how empty the course was until when I was almost finished. RR has a beautiful clubhouse and the customer service from everyone I have encountered on every single visit has been great. This course would be challenging to walk, fairly hilly. Several holes have severe elevation changes. Tough course because almost every shot has red hazard penalty stroke areas both left and right of your landing zone. The course overall played better today after the rains, at least you could keep balls on the fairways. Recommended = Not not until they get some grass on the fairways & rough.

Played the Blues (6469/72.4/139) using Forelinx in 4H, 25M as a 3some mid day with brothers Paul & Bob. Our gallery was their 92 year old father John riding along. The weather was terrible for golf, cold and windy. The tees are decent. More lush than thin with most divots already filled in. The fairways are basically hardpan and getting worse every time I play here. Thin would be an upgrade. The rough around the fairways are also mostly hardpan. The rough around the greens is much lusher, mowed down and was usually good to chip out of. The fairway bunkers are hard packed and good to play out of. The green side bunkers are very nicely maintained with high quality sand. The greens putted nice. Few ball marks, smooth, medium fast, firm but held approach shots well. Beautiful clubhouse and the customer service from everyone I encountered was excellent. No beverage cart, which is a surprise for a Sunday afternoon? This course would be challenging to walk, fairly hilly. Several holes have severe elevation changes. The layout on the front has multiple par 4's that are layup holes and in course out of bounds between holes 5/6. This is a course that forces you to hit shorter clubs off 4-5 different par 4 tees because of tightness or hazards that require you to hit it no farther than "X" distance. I like the layout on the back better. Tough course because almost every shot has red hazard penalty stroke areas both left and right of your landing zone. The course overall is one of the more challenging layouts in Southern California. Recommended = Not not until they get some grass on the fairways & rough.

Played the Blues (6469/72.4/139) using Forelinx in 4H, 25M as a 3some mid day with Don & Dave. The weather was nice for golf, clear, occasionally breezy in the high 70's. The tees are well maintained. Adequate coverage with most divots already filled in. The fairways are thin, with extreme amounts of roll. Inside the 150 marker they were a combination of thin and almost lush in places. Only holes 9 & 18 are regularly watered and are green, the other fairways are mostly hardpan or dormant bermuda. The rough around the fairways is mostly hardpan. The rough around the greens was much lusher but mowed down and was usually good to chip out of. The green side bunkers were very nicely maintained with high quality sand. The fairway bunkers were hard packed and good to play out of. The greens putted medium fast & are nice. Few ball marks, smooth, firm but held approach shots well. Beautiful clubhouse and the customer service from everyone I encountered was excellent. No Beverage cart out today. This is a course that forces you to hit shorter clubs off 4-5 different par 4 tees because of either tightness or hazards that require you to hit it no farther than "X" distance. The weather was nice for golf, clear, fairly calm, occassionally breezy in the mid 60's. The tees are usually lush with most divots already filled in. The fairways are thin, with extreme amounts of roll overall. Starting around the 150 marker they were a combination of thin and almost lush in places. Only holes 9 & 18 are regularly watered and are green, the other fairways are mostly golden brown. The rough around the fairways is mostly hardpan. The rough around the greens was much lusher but mowed down and was usually good to chip out of. The fairway bunkers were hard packed and good to play out of. The green side bunkers were very nicely maintained with high quality sand. The greens were very good. Few ball marks, smooth, putted medium fast, firm but held approach shots well. Played 11-22-15 early morning as a three some in a little under 4 hours. Tee boxes were in OK shape, a little dryer than last time I was here but still very playable. Fairways are thin with some green grass here and there and a lot more bare spots than only a couple of weeks ago. Rough, there isn't any. Green side bunkers looked to be in good shape, while fairway bunkers were mostly hardpan. Greens were in descent shape, a little bumpy and fast from being dried out by the wind. Even with the condition of the course had a great time out here. Why? Ran into two friends that used to be in my regular foursome that I haven't played golf with in over 15 years. Funny who you sometimes run into on a golf course.

Played the Blues (6469/72.4/139) using the Forelinx prepaid Membership in 4H, 10M as a 3some mid morning with Jim & Sharon visiting from Az. The weather was nice for golf, clear & breezy, high 60's, low 70's. Several tees could use leveling, I had to move several times to find a good lie/stance. Usually lush with most divots already filled in once you pick the right location. The fairways are thin, with extreme amounts of roll overall. Starting around the 150, they were a combination of thin and almost lush in places. Only holes 9 & 18 are regularly watered and are green, the other fairways are mostly golden brown. The rough around the fairways was mostly hardpan. The rough around the greens was much lusher but mowed down and was usually good to chip out of. Having almost no rough with hard ground means that getting the ball to stop on a hilly course is a constant challenge, because the only thing to stop your ball is often the closest hazard. The fairway bunkers were like waste bunkers, hard packed but Okay to play out of except for the abundance of rocks. The green side bunkers were mostly good, nicely maintained with good quality sand. Good sand in the middle of the bunkers, thin around the edges. The greens were very good. Few ball marks, smooth, putted medium fast, firm but held approach shots well. This course would be challenging to walk, fairly hilly. Several holes have severe elevation changes. This is a course that forces you to hit shorter clubs on 4-5 different par 4 tees because of either tightness, hazards or both that require you to hit it no farther than "X" distance. Played the Blues (6469/72.4/139) in 3H, 20M as a 2some this A.M. with Josh using the Forelinx prepaid Membership. The weather was clear & WINDY, high 50's, low 60's. We were clubbing up 3 clubs when going into the wind. The combination of wind and thin fairways made for some of the more challenging conditions I have ever tried to score in. Hit it in the air and the swirling wind would knock it down or take it places you don't want golf balls to visit. Punch it low and it would roll forever on the hardpan, which could also bring into play places golf balls are not meant to visit. The course overall is in mediocre condition because the fairways and rough are mostly hardpan. The tees were in good shape, usually lush with most divots already filled in. Several could use leveling. Overall, the fairways are thin, with extreme amounts of roll. Starting around the 150, they were a combination of thin and almost lush in places. The rough around the fairways was thin, mostly hardpan. Getting the ball to stop on a hilly course was a constant challenge, because on hilly holes the only thing to stop your ball was the closest hazard. The rough around the greens was fairly lush but mowed down and was usually good to chip out of. The course continues to survive the drought, but just barely. There are mostly dried out fairways and many hard pan lies to contend with. Holes 9 and 18 have had more watering on the fairways to give the clubhouse a nice view. Tee boxes and greens are watered and are lush. Some of the tees are a bit uneven and finding a stance takes some thought. Bunkers around the greens have nice sand, but as has been the case for many years now, the fairway bunkers are mostly hard pan. The word around the course is that they are planning on over seeding this winter, and some irrigation work is under way as part of this plan. I look forward to coming back here when things start greening up.

Played Valley with a friend this morning, first off the tee a little before 7:00. Finished in just under 3:00. Not much to add to Ron's review from his round yesterday, although I'd contend the greens are much faster than medium speed. Putts will get away from you very quickly if you're not careful. The greens are the best conditioned part of the course. Tee boxes decent, fairways and rough very thin, fairway bunkers are not good and greenside bunkers are excellent. When included in the Forelinx membership, worth playing but otherwise I'd have a hard time advising anyone to spend their money on either course right now. The food in the snack bar is very good. I had a breakfast burrito after finishing Valley and it was delicious.
