Played Monday. Course was overbooked. Our tee time was 1000 and we didn't get off until 1030. With this first hole, the starter should not let a group tee off until the previous group is ON the green. POP wound up 5:00. No way should that EVER happen here. It's a fun course when it moves, but not when you wait on EVERY shot for the entire round. The course itself is in really good shape for San Dimas (and I've been playing here for almost 40 years.If you keep the ball in play and stay below the hole, you'll score. Simple as that. The rough is not punitive at all. The biggest problem is inconsiderate golfers who are too lazy to rake the bunkers after using them. It's bad enough that the Canadian Geese trek all over the sand, but they don't know to use a rake. Too bad we don't have mandatory etiquette cards like they do in many other countries. There would be a lot of slovenly golfers turned away if we did. Maybe then they would learn to rake bunkers, fill divots and repair ball marks. Back to the course, it's a good bang for the buck. You get all kinds of lies and an interesting layout. If you play it once, you'll be back for an encore.

Played Fri Nov 24th at 7:32 check in easy and friendly. Got out on time. I should know better than to play the day after Thanksgiving, man way too crowded , POP was 5:05. I thought the course was in good shape. A few tee boxes it was difficult to find a level place, fairways were good, what I saw of the bunkers they appeared to have good sand, and the greens were receptive. I (repeat) I putted like crap but that was on me. I shot 90 with 38 putts (missing 4 birdie putts 10 feet or less). Time for a putter change LOL This is the second time I played this course in 2 months and the more you play it you learn how to play it, I only used my driver on 1 hole on the front 9, #4. The others are too narrow or dog leg and you run on of fairway.

Noticed it had been almost six years since I last played here, so taking advantage of a great internet offer of $25 for green fee, cart, breakfast, made the trip. Arrived at 5:20am and it was already crowded! However as we were just a twosome, were allowed to get off first. (In total darkness of course) First holes was just a guess, but still managed a 4, and the second green had lights, so by the time we got to #3, it was almost light enough to see.

Greens were by far the best part of the course, followed by the bunkers. The fairways were for the most part awful. Tee boxes and rough was hit or miss. I've have never been a huge fan of this course. I enjoy the scenery and the deer, but the course does not "fit my eye" as well as others. Despite that, had a great time, with a pace of play just under 2 1/2 hours. It was surprising to see that when we were driving to #8, there were already three groups on the par 3 second hole, and this was at 6:38am. Wow ! Worth playing the first couple holes in the dark to avoid what I'm sure would have been a long round.

Played Fri Sept 1st at 7:30 check in was very busy, got out almost on time. POP was slow at 4:58 There was a 4 some in front of us that played from the blue, no issue with that except they appeared to be giving lessons to one guy. They started out "ok" but really slowed down after the front nine, and lost contact with the group in front of them. The course was in good shape tee boxes, fairways were good, rough was long enough to know you are not in the fairway, greens rolled nice, the bunkers were really good allot of sand, soft and not packed. It was hot 108 and we only saw the cart girl 2 times and it was on the back nine, and she was parked under a tree.

Had some business in Glendora so decided to play S D C on their recently posted specials. I thought I would pay $24.99 w cart and food, but took the option of no food and paid $20 w cart (nice deal). Course was not to crowded and we played in 4 hours (we did wait but not long) and the weather was great. Course is in decent shape, after all the recent warm weather. Tee boxes were clean and tee receptive; fairways were clean and provided good bounce/roll, even though there are some dry spots (playable) and you will find some patchy areas, that are less than desirable; heard no complaints on bunkers and they appeared fine; very little, if any rough; greens were great and they chipped/putted well on every hole. Customer service was excellent at all levels.

Something happened today at San Dimas that only be described as a miracle of epic proportions. Tee time of noon as single on a GN hot deal of $25, got there a little early and was paired up with another single and twosome and we were on the 1st tee, balls in the air by 11:45am, shaking hands and walking back to my car at 3:00pm! Yes you read that right! A 3:15 round at San Dimas (home of the 5+ hour round), on an American Golf managed course (home of the fivesomes and 4 min spacing). Someone wake me up because I must be dreaming...

BTW, the golf was fine and conditions were same ol same ol. Greens are outstanding with minimal ball marks & rolling medium fast and true and holding well. Fairways mostly good with a few dry patches. Rough is a grab bag of lush, patchy, bare, penal, not so penal...you get the point. Bunkers fair with mostly good sand but they need a raking. Tees (blues) were poor. They had decent coverage but too many unlevel lies to contend with all day.

To recap: A 3hr 15min round at San Dimas with some waiting on the front 9! That's a typical time for 9 holes on the weekends here. Well I can say it happened once in my lifetime. Never to happen again...

Played at 915am with my monthly group on a warm sunny day with very little wind until we hit those “into the …” holes #13-14, on Saturday 3/11/17. The first tee looked open for a long time as our tee time approached, but a shotgun of novice golfers had gone off the back nine at 7am, and they cycled out just in front of us, and by hole #4 the lower part of the course looked like the Harlem Globetrotters in carts, weaving back and forth across the fairways and stacked up on every tee. Overall POP was a horrific 5.5 hr. But, hey, the weather was nice! Course conditions range from nice to horribly hard/bare/bumpy. Greens were the best part of the course, rolling fairly smoothly at medium-fast speeds, although the firmness and receptiveness varied through the course. [They plan to start aerating ½ of each green beginning 3/20.] Fairways were fairly lush to thin and hard – the ball sat pretty tight everywhere. Rough was variable but generally drier and harder. Sand was fluffy everywhere – great around greens but challenging from fairway bunkers. Many tees are sloping, and par-3 tees are very torn up. Prolink GPS that looks OK but is not interactive, and it was so dim in the bright sunlight that it was basically useless. Starter said it couldn’t be adjusted for brightness. And, OMG, please stop with the on-screen messages (and beeps!) – like 3 or 4 per hole to “keep up”, “repair ballmarks”, “wave up on par-3s”, and “thanks for playing, return carts to the barn”! STOP!! (No, you can’t adjust THAT either!). Carts are basic. Sand bottle rack on #10 was full ..... of empty bottles. We flagged down a wandering marshal to get more sand. Warm-up area is mats hitting into a net. Two fairly large putting greens will put the fear into you before the round, especially downhill. The course is wedged into a minimal area and there are several places where trees and protective fences severely restrict lines and options of play – probably not trimmed since opening. While distances are not great, many holes are extremely narrow and hazards and OB are very close by. Be careful on the narrow par-5 #17 – left of the cart path is OB within a few feet of the path, and balls headed left of the fairway there get quickly onto very firm bumpy ground, so there’s no real margin for error. The course used a front/middle/back rotation on the front nine, the changed it up on the back to be unpredictable (but you can get pin position on the GPS ..... oh, wait! [See above!]). With par-5s coming at holes #3, #6, and #9, and with the pin on hole #12 being back, all four of these par-5s had pins on the back.

Played on valentine's day 2/14 with a tee time around 11 am. POP was around 5 hours. Being a weekday, we thought it would play a little faster. It was mostly twosomes and threesomes today. But we had to wait on every hole.

Course conditions were very nice. Course was not muddy at all. It has been a few days since it last rained. Tee boxes had good coverage. Fairways had very good coverage too. There were some bare spots here and there on the fairways but the fairways were fairly green. The bunkers were nice too. The sand was nice and fluffy. The greens were in great shape. Greens were running a little fast.

Water does come into play on a few holes. Some of the water is off to side either on the left or right side of the fairway. There are a couple of holes where you need to carry water. On hole #14 you need to lay up on your tee shot to be short of the water. Then on your next shot, you hit over the water to the green. I find that a lot of players on hole #14 tend to hit their 2nd shot either to the right or left of 14th fairway. So therefore these players are playing on either hole #11 and hole #15 fairways. Not good if you're playing these holes and you have to wait for these players to get off your fairway. The 16th hole is the other hole where you need to carry water. It's a par 3 hole with a feel of island green in front. Course is not flat but it's a fun and challenging course to play.

It's a nice course to play. Driving range here is hitting in a net maybe around 100 yards. More of a warm up area on the driving range. There is a chipping area next to the driving range. There's a nice restaurant and bar here. Will be back again.

Like the two previous reviewers, I also played San Dimas on Veterans Day, 11/11. Its been several years since I’ve played here and knew it would be crowded but didn’t quite expect what we encountered. 5½ hour round! We had an 8:45 time but was delayed 30 minutes. They had a starter out there but he did very little to organize. He made no announcements as to who was up. We had to keep asking him, “now who do we follow”? This is so typical of American Golf. Also, When we made the reservation, they mentioned we would get the senior rate of $35. When we checked in the guy says its $36.99. It was only a couple of bucks different I realize but when I questioned him, he claimed there was a communication error, take it or leave it. Again, American Golf at its best. Lastly, there were some slow 5 somes out there and with 8 minutes in between tee times, you are guaranteed a slow round. Again, American Golf likes to pack ‘em in. I won’t even bring up the bad experience we had at scramble tournament there a few years ago. Poorly organized. Get it together American Golf! Quit gouging. Ok enough of my crap, now to the course. Pace of play was terrible. The group ahead of us fell behind largely because of they struggled off the tee. Can’t criticize people for playing poorly but still enjoying themselves but 5½ round is a bit much :-) Marshals were out there but admitted there wasn’t much they could do as there were quite a few groups out there. The course is actually in pretty good condition and is challenging. Fairways were very good. A few brown spots but overall the fairways were in pretty good shape. The greens were very nice. They rolled very nicely and they also held good shots. Some of the tee boxes however were uneven. Some were like pitcher’s mounds. Was in only one bunker and it had good, soft sand. I really enjoy this course and would like to come back but not on a holiday or weekend.
