Played 7-5-16 early morning with Itslikeimsayin, Sixpez,and Kassper7 , using vouchers from Zebwelborn. Tee boxes were in descent shape, mostly level with okay coverage. Fairways and rough are about the same , thin with a lot of bare areas. Was in two bunkers that were a little firm but not to bad. Greens were in good shape rolling medium speed and fairly smooth. Overall course is not in that good of shape and with an over 4 hour round at 6 in the morning I would choose somewhere else to play.

Made my first visit to San Dimas Canyon yesterday morning at 6:00 with sixpez, rgm2525 and kassper7. Thanks again to Zeb for donating the vouchers at the Los Serranos GK Plays. Like Keith already said, San Dimas Canyon is in less than stellar shape in the fairways and rough. The greens were excellent and really have lots of undulation. They were smooth, medium-fast and accepted full shots well. Lots of fun to putt, too, due to the big breaks. Fairways were decent in some spots and nearly non-existent on some holes. Bunkers were pretty good. Tee boxes acceptable.

Layout-wise, there are some interesting holes and many holes have trouble down one side or the other. There are also a few funky holes with severe doglegs. Lots of great-looking bunkering in spots, too. Overall a pretty fun layout but I'd be much more eager to return if conditions were vastly improved.

Those of us who one free rounds at SDC at last week's GK Plays outing (thanks again to zebwelborn for the donation) didn't waste any time to set something up. In fact, we had a full foursome of winner... Continue »

Those of us who one free rounds at SDC at last week's GK Plays outing (thanks again to zebwelborn for the donation) didn't waste any time to set something up. In fact, we had a full foursome of winners. Myself, Itslikeimsayin, kassper7 and rgm2525 met up for a 6:00 tee time and all used our vouchers. Even at this time, the course was already packed and behind schedule. We teed off closer to 6:08. The pace seemed really slow as we waited on every shot, but we still finished in about 4:15. The course was in mediocre shape from tee to green. Actually, the tees were generally good enough. They did have several of the blue tees moved up. The fairways were thin and firm with a lot of brown/bald spots. The "rough" was even less impressive. The closer you get to the greens, though, things do get nicer. I was in a few bunkers. They were decent. The greens were the highlight. They were receptive and rolling smooth at medium/quick speeds, getting a little slicker as they dried out in the late morning. The greens were extremely nice for the amount of play this course gets. This is always a fun course with a few funky holes and several very short par-5s that make you feel good. Otherwise, you gotta be on target. The lack of grass in fairways and rough make the course more difficult because so many fairways are slanted and nothing will stop the ball from rolling into trouble. I used to love this course and still have a fondness for it, but the crowds keep me away and conditions (other than the greens) seem to be going downhill. I couldn't turn down a free round here, so it was a great GK Plays prize to cash in immediately!

Absolutely beautiful! Played 6/15/16 at 4:00pm twilight. Course was super busy but the conditions are some of the best I have played in years. Staff was friendly and fairways and greens were beautiful! Green and Lush! Sand traps were powder and tee boxes were in decent shape. Saw a rattle snake but it wasn't near us so we left it alone.

Played with Don & Adrian, was a pleasure. Don was personally responsible for building many of the rock retaining walls on the course back in the 80's, he really knows the course! As usual, staff is awesome, all in nice shape. They did have the tee markers shifted to where the course played a little short, but not too bad. Hole 13 par 4 has an alternate lower location tee box right now, which really changes the view from the tee. Only one complaint, and it is nothing to do with the course- one of the groups in front of us had a sunflower seed eater, and he or she was spitting the shells on the greens... Really enjoyed the course conditions. Some of the tee boxes are a little uneven, but you can definitely find level ground if you look. Good day overall.

Played this morning in 3 hours (great to be one of the first off). Customer service excellent at all levels. Course is in really nice shape. Tee boxes clean/level. Fairways providing good lies throughout. Rough while not high, is difficult. Bunkers appeared clean and playable. Greens were all mowed and chipping/putting very nice. Really an enjoyable round on a well maintained course. Love playing here and will be back for sure.

Walked the Blues (6400/71.5/125) with RGM2525, Rob & David. The weather was really nice, sunny, breezy and in the 70's. The POP was not, slightly over 5H on a very busy weekday afternoon.

Walked the Blues (6400/71.5/125) with RGM2525, Rob & David. The weather was really nice, sunny, breezy and in the 70's. The POP was not, slightly over 5H on a very busy weekday afternoon.

First time here, more positives than negatives overall. Five par 5's & five par 3's, which I like. Several of the par 5's are shorter & scoreable. Several of the par 3's are good tests and their distances are nicely spaced so you are hitting different clubs throughout. No frills, old school layout that has some fun holes. #16 is probably their signature hole, an excellent par 3 over water from an elevated tee.

The tees were okay, good coverage but not lush, mowed close. Not too many were chewed up and most were fairly level.

The fairways were mowed close and more thin than lush but had good coverage.

The "rough" was almost better to play out of than the fairway. Mowed very close, maybe 1", with good coverage, not penal at all.

The sand traps were decent. Nice fine sand.

The greens were medium speed but bumpy, still showing the effects of aeration 3+ weeks ago. They held approach shots well.

Hilly course, but still a nice course to walk, most tees were close to the last green. No drink cart, but did see ambassadors out patrolling several times. They were running a special that included breakfast and lunch, so the turn was packed with people ordering lunch, which slowed things down even more. Not an overly taxing layout, fun course that doesn't require alot of forced carries and good for players of all skill levels. Recommended = Yes.

I played here with my monthly group on Saturday 3/19/16 at 9:45am (teeing off closer to 10:15), then staggered through a 5-hr round. The course was punching out 5somes as we arrived up until the time our group teed off.

The course overall was very dry and firm. Greens were recently punched only 2 weeks ago and were fairly slow and very bumpy, especially as putts slowed near the hole, but downslope rollouts could still be substantial. Fairways were thin and the grass could be clumpy, giving uncertain lies. Lies in the rough were also inconsistent. Sand coverage in the traps was good but thin, damp, ands firm. Tee boxes were a mixed bag, with par 3 boxes especially being unlevel.

Basic carts with ProLink GPS that doesn’t provide much in the way of course information, but we were inundated by messages from the clubhouse about keeping up with the group ahead and fixing our ballmarks. We had trouble a couple of times with the roving course “ambassadors” driving behind the group when we were hitting. OK for a casual round.

Played here this afternoon. I've always had a fondness for this course, though it's been years since I've played here. The notoriously slow pace of play kept me away, but I went for it today with a GN hot deal for $23 at 12:22. It was busy as usual out there, but they offered to send me out early with another single and a twosome. We teed off just before noon. We picked up another single on the second hole and played the rest as a fivesome behind plenty of slow groups. As expected, the pace was slow and we finished in about 5 hours. I laughed to myself when we were on a 6-hour pace after 4 holes and the GPS in the cart said we were 17 minutes ahead of desired pace! That shows you the expectations here. The course is in less-than-ideal winter shape from tee to green, but playable enough. The tee boxes were mostly good. A few could use some leveling out and a couple of the par-3s were quite chewed up. The fairways and rough were thin and patchy. The extra roll-out is not always helpful on this course. The two bunkers I was in had excellent sand, but nobody seems to rake here. The greens were also exceptional. They were rolling true at medium-quick speeds. I did fix my fair share of unrepaired ball marks, but those and the abundant sand trap footprints are more of a reflection on the players here and not the maintenance. It's a shame because these surfaces are otherwise maintained beautifully right now. Though not a bad drive for me, I wish this course were a little closer to home and much less crowded. There's just something I've always really enjoyed about it. The front nine isn't anything too amazing and the 9th hole is just plain goofy. Then, the back nine is a whole lot of fun with some tricky target holes and two excellent par-3s. Great setting in the foothills and friendly staff.
