Played the FRONT NINE ONLY of the Cove course after we finished Classic today. We started around 3:55, so we were flying around trying to play as many holes as possible. We caught a threesome ahead on one hole, but they quickly let us play through. Then on another hole someone was seemingly practicing putting on the green for a few minutes before they noticed we were on the tee. Finished nine holes in probably a little under an hour. We still had enough sunlight to probably play at least 3 or 4 more holes, but didn’t want to press our luck with having the carts out too late as grateful guests invited to play more after our first 18 of the day.

Conditions were very similar, although it seemed some of the rough on Cove wasn’t overseeded quite the same as on Classic. I saw some dappled yellow spots here and there. Otherwise, medium-fast, smooth, firm greens (although accepting of full shots). Fairways great. Tee boxes and bunkers both very good.

While the Classic course has more history, the Cove course (at least the front nine) is arguably more fun, with wider fairways, a more modern look, and beautiful mountain backdrops on many holes. (Classic mostly looks like a 50s/60s Palm Springs course, while Cove looks like an 80s/90s Palm Springs course.) I’m anxious to play the back nine sometime!

Played IWCC - Cove this weekend in the most relaxed 3 hours of golf I've had in a while. One single played through on 2 and then never saw another soul. Likely cause we were crazy enough to tee off at 2pm in peak heat. Thankfully a breeze picked up and it was more than tolerable. The clubhouse was closed, but Orlando in the cart barn was very accommodating. The conditions were fantastic. Tee to green I didn't see a blade of grass out of place. The other courses should take note of the way they keep their greens in the summer. Smooth as a felt pool table. A hair slow and dried out but given the recent heat that is understandable. The layout is a bit on the bland side, but I feel that way about most in-community old school PS tracks. This does have a nice stretch on the back nine reminiscent of La Quinta Mountain and I found everything quite enjoyable. Used my CC membership to get on, and if you can do the same I highly recommend.

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) in 2.5H twilight as a single. Sunny, calm and around 107. Several holes are tight and somewhat quirky on this layout. Definitely prefer the Classic course. Small greens are the norm. Not a memorable layout, but it's fun to play. COVID-19. Check in @ pro shop from afar. Restaurant and clubhouse closed. All on course water stations shut off, but bathrooms open. No rakes, divot mix or ice chests on the basic carts. Raised cups to just below ground level so that the ball usually goes in the hole. Tees lush and well maintained. Fairways lush and nice to play from. Rough lush and about 2-3". Traps had good quality sand and were well raked. Small Bermuda greens rolled well. Firm, medium fast bordering on fast downhill and they were smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release. They are still working on the fringes, so numerous holes had a plug ring around the green. Excellent customer service from all encountered, especially Paul in the pro shop and the Marshall Darrell. No Drink cart this afternoon. Basic carts do not have GPS. All grass range good complementary balls. Fun course beginning to transition to summer conditions. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) in 2H, 45M playing with Greg mid day. Sunny, calm and close to 110, enough said. COVID-19: Clubhouse closed. Pro shop only open to pay from a distance. 1 rider to a cart, ice/water stations on course closed. Ice chests and divot mix bottles removed. Cups raised but ball can sometimes go in. Masks now only required while checking in and if around other people on the course. Tees lush and well maintained. Fairways lush and nice to play from. Rough semi lush, thick and about 2", good POP rough. Traps had good quality sand and were well raked. Small greens rolled great even though they had been recently spiked. Firm, medium fast and they were smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release. They were punching the fringes as we played, which caused issues if you were trying to run anything onto the green with all the plugs. Excellent customer service from all encountered. Very friendly Marshall Darrell around numerous times just checking if everyone had water in the heat. Basic carts do not have GPS. All grass range had good complementary balls. Tight in spots but not a tight layout overall. Not a great layout, but a fun one to play. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) in 3.5H twilight. Matched up with Jeff and Meg, very fun couple to play with. Overcast and in the low 70's, 1-2 club wind especially on the back. Tees lush and excellently maintained. Fairways lush and nice to play from. Rough lush, thick and mowed down to 2", good POP rough. Ball sat up, I was able to hit 4 irons out of this length w/o issue. Traps had good quality sand. A little firmer than I would prefer to see greenside, but well maintained. Small greens rolled great. Firm, medium fast and smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release. Excellent customer service from all encountered. Drink cart around several times, friendly Marshall and starter trying to keep things moving. Basic carts do not have GPS. All grass range with good complementary balls. Tight in spots but not a tight layout overall. Back tighter than the front. Fun layout with some demanding and picturesque holes on the back along the mountains. Better than average course in near immaculate condition. Liked the layout more the 2nd time through, this is probably going to be a course that grows on me. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) using Club Corp in 4H. Matched up with 3 nice out of staters. Sunny, calm and in the high 70's made for great golfing weather. Tight in spots but not a tight layout overall. Small greens were the norm. Not a memorable layout, but it was fun to play. Tees lush and well maintained. Fairways lush and nice to play from. Rough lush, thick and about 3". Tough to make solid contact even with shorter irons. Traps had good quality sand and were well raked. However, they needed to be churned, they had adequate sand but about 1" down they were consistently hard even though it was sand you were hitting. Small greens rolled great. Firm, medium fast bordering on fast and they were smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release. Excellent customer service from all encountered. Drink cart around several times, friendly Marshall and starter trying to keep things moving. Basic carts do not have GPS. All grass range was adequate and had good complementary balls. Fun course in near immaculate condition, Recommended.

For my last round in the desert, I played the Cove course. Pro shop attendant was awesome as he let me jump out as a single before the actual 7:30 scheduled tee time. This allowed me to finish in just over 2 hours, get back to the hotel to finish packing. I quickly hit a few balls on the range and then made the trek over to the course. The Cove course is down the road a bit so getting there in the cart is a bit of an adventure but not too bad.

Condition wise the course is in fantastic shape. Fairways were absolutely perfect. A deep emerald green very lush and not a bare or thin spot to be found. Tee boxes level and lush with only a few divots on the par 3 boxes on the back nine. My guess is I was out in front of the maintenance crew and they hadn’t moved the tee markers yet.

Greens rolled at a medium fast pace and only one had a few pitch marks. The others were near perfect. Like Matt said the green complexes are fairly tame. Only a couple had double tiers. The rest were pretty flat and easy to negotiate. Sand traps were on par with other courses in the desert. Decent and manageable but nothing spectacular.

The course has a number of water features to add to the beauty of the setting. A few of the holes are set up against the rock mountain which in the early morning made a great echo off the driver. All in all The Cove is a fantastic course that is very enjoyable to play, both for conditions and aesthetics. I will say that the Classic course has a much more memorable finishing hole. Other than that, I thought the two course were very similar. Both had some holes up against the mountain, both had a few water features, and both had excellent conditions. I know I plan on playing both courses again.

Got out yesterday at noon using Club Corp play away. Starting from the valet to the proshop and starter the service was top notch. It was a busy afternoon at IWCC but the staff does their best to make everyone happy. The starter even let me tee off 45 mins before my tee time because there was an opening.

The course was in great shape as expected this time of the year in the desert. From tee to green everything was lush and if I could nit pick anything it would be the tee's on par 3's were chewed up. This course IMO is very easy if you can keep your shots reasonably straight. Fairways are flat and other than a few lakes and green side bunkers there are not a lot of forced carries. The greens were not tricked out and seemed to be a little flat for my liking. Holes 11-16 have the mountains on the right and are visually epic.

Overall this is a very fun course if you want to score well but I was expecting it to be much harder. After talking to the guys in the shop after they mentioned that the classic course has most of the tough greens that are elevated and tricked out but no mountains.

I was fortunate enough to play this course. The staff said this was the easier of the 2 courses. While it is a bit longer, the fairways are wider and posed less difficulty compared to its sister course. Conditions were unbelievably perfect during our play. Greens are firm and smooth, not as fast as I normally see on private courses but I'm not going to complain. Saw maybe 1 ball mark in our entire round. Fairways are green and lush. We went to the driving range upon arrival. It was all grass and balls were provided. The range was about 240y out and not sure what was behind the hill at the end of the range. The Cove course was like a 3 minute drive on regular streets (from the clubhouse/range) with golf carts (it is pretty hilarious to see all these golf carts roving the streets!) We had 1130 tee time and went off on the dot. There was a 2 some that was in front of us but we did not see them until we reached the back 9. Finished in under 4 hours with very little wait time. Saw the bevcart and the marshall a few times. There was a snack bar between 10 and 11. Views of the mountains were unbelievable. The course was quite enjoyable to play and to look at. There were 2 holes that was kinda weird AS the holes were build on what was a water channel. see attached photos for better understanding. I found that unique and weird to see on a high quality golf course. I guess the designer made use of every real estate avail ! LOL. Overall, it was a fun round and definitely highly recommended.
