Overall I thought the course was in good condition, but I did not like the greens. They were kind of "crusty" Maybe because I putted so poorly???? Otherwise the course was very nice. The new carts are similar if not the same as at Hidden Valley and Industry, (Reduced speed, notice of bind spots etc) Not crazy about them ,but it was nice to not have spped bumps.

Played Friday July 12 out at 7:05am. Love to play early. Finished at 11:10 good pace, no one in from of us. Eagle Glen has done a real good job of clearing out the brush on several holes making them much more playable. This present a much better picture to the eye when looking at the hole. They have improved several tee boxes by adding steps. The tee box on #5 from the silver really need to have the weeds cut down in front of it, could not even see the fairway. The greens were allot slower than usual. I think because of the excessive heat we have had, maybe they over watered and did not cut the greens as short as usual. Saw the cart girl 4 times, even thou I never buy anything, she made her appearance. They have new carts with governors that really slow the cart down, 7MPH up and down hills. All the speed bumps have been removed which I like. I have become comfortable playing at Eagle Glen and they appear to be working to improve the course.

Course is in fair condition and they are working on it so that is encouraging. Most tee boxes have been worked on (either re-sodded or completely re-done) or are being done at present (4,5,10 - so you play from the forward tees on each). A few of the 3-pars are still using older tees and they are lumpier. Otherwise full grass coverage and generally level 9/10. Bunkers I did not visit but they looked to have plenty of sand with some small pebbles 9/10. Greens are almost there - they have good speed and grass coverage but a bit bouncy in places 7.5/10. Rough and fairways are where most issues exist. Rough is spotty to non-existent generally, while juicier in spots around some greens. They have re-marked the new boundaries where they want to grow the rough and re-shape the contours of the fairways, but there is little to no growth in most of those parts. Plus there are a number of rough/bare spots and marked GURS 5/10. Relatedly, the fairways are thinner and appear somewhat compacted more so on the front nine. They were lusher with fuller lies on the back. Again, occasional GUR and spotty growths even though they aerated some of them. I would welcome some better conditioning although they are still quite playable. 6/10 - course needs some TLC in this area to be back at typical level.

POP was usual disaster on front nine for Sunday AM opening up on the back for an on-time round.

To me Eagle Glen is always fun golf course to play, with several beautiful holes and great views of the local area.
Some work in progress along the course. They are building new tees on holes 5 and 10.
Overall condtions were good except for some bare areas on some of the fairways on the back 9. Unfortunately I found many unrepaired pitch marks on the greens.

We brought three groups from Upland to play in their Friday 8AM shotgun special. Golf, cart, range balls and a sleeve of Pro Vi's for $39...incredible deal. From start to finish, the entire day went very smooth and enjoyable. I've been playing EG since opening day in 1999 and have seen the different conditions through the years. I really believe that the course is coming back to the condition before Troon Golf let it go to crap. Tee boxes were great, as were the greens. Fairways still need a little more green to them, but were much better than a couple years ago. This course has alot of personality and can challenge all levels. Oh yeah....they do by far have the "hottest cart girls" in the business. And the pro shop guys were friendly...

Greens were pretty quick even though they had been verticut. No real noticeable difference in ball roll. Our 4some played in 3:45. Great deal for $42. 19th hole service was exceptional as was the bacon cheese BBQ burger. Don't tell the wife that's what I had for lunch ok? I told here I had the Cobb salad.

This is a great course and really needs some updating. Tees, traps and greens are good. The fairways need work. Too many tight lies and multiple types of grass growing. Not to mention dirt lies in the middle of the fairway. It appears they are working on it. Greens, tees and traps first. Lets hope fairways next. Gotta punch those Bermuda grass fairways !!!

Played Saturday, 13-Apr-13 about 10 minutes late due to a fog delay. I would like to nominate Eagle Glen for consistently having the HOTTEST cart girls in SoCal. Seriously hot and great attitudes all...those in the 19th hole weren't bad either. That's about it for the positives.

Sorry to say Eagle Glen has sadly reverted to a quasi dog track The greens had evidence of being punched but were very hard and spotty. The fairways were not in very good shape either. Most disappointing was the sand. The greenside bunker on the long par 5 "lang whang" was concrete. When I tossed the rake in it bounced!

Ah well, they are punching the fairways (and hopefully repunching the greens) this week. I look forward to going back to this great layout in about 4-6 weeks.

Played early Tuesday morning 3/12/2013 in a qualifier for the SCGA Amateur Net Championship. Started off as a real CF with first tee times at 7AM, range open at 6AM - er, after the time change last weekend, it's pitch black at 6AM and barely light at 7. (Times were apparently a course decision, not SCGA.) Course staff underprovided and overworked. Warmup was in the dark - no way to see where the ball was going. Free small bucket of range balls. Lucky I didn't chip my foot down the range! Smallish putting green was available. No assigned carts! - Find the players in your group (by tee and time) and pair up!! Just be at your tee at the correct time. A lot of unnecessary anxiety and confusion to start the morning.

Once out on the course, things got MUCH better. SCGA had quite a few staff on the course to move play along (they have new POP guidelines, which they appear to be pretty aggressive about - we played in 4hr20min). And they had staff stationed at challenging holes to do spotting and help with rulings - the guy stationed at #2 was especially needed (and helpful). After seeing recent GK posts about condition I was concerned going in, but the playing conditions overall were very good. Greens were especially good - looked great, firm and held shots, rolled well at pretty fast speeds. Lies in the fairways were tight and dry but generally good. Rough was spotty in places depending on sprinkler coverage, and overall the entire course was dry and firm. Tees were generally level and in good shape, and sand was good. Lots of ESA and natural areas to swallow balls if you get offline, and with the dry firm conditions we had some unexpectedly long rollouts that ended up lost or in hazards.

We saw the cart girl several times. Plenty of water available. Food at the restaurant afterward was good. SCGA efficiently tallied the scores and dispensed resuts. After the initial confusion, the course played great and the weather was fine (pretty hot for March!). Recommended.
