We played our round as a 2-some on Sept 2nd 2010: I'm going to refute the previous REVIEW.When I booked our tee time the night before & then I READ the review from "CHRISMACHOVEC", I thought what have I done? We were driving up & you can see the golf course holes, we were EXTREMELY surprised the course was the color of GREEN, NOT the "DOG TRACK" that was posted...

I have played this course several times over the years. For those players who remember this layout, the BACK 9 is NOW the FRONT 9! A Beautiful two level clubhouse with a waterfall as you drive to the first tee & practice tee, not a trailer to check-in at plus no dirt parking lot either...

Currently, this course is being prepared for the upcoming Nationwide Tour event. It is in EXTREMELY playable GREEN conditions! There are no cart path restrictions. Please use the 90 degree rule. Each cart has attached to it a note that the course is being watered periodically AFTER 11AM. Why?
So they can switch from the rye type grass over to the Bermuda as well as fertilization. I thought I read it somewhere it is costing the course $1.7 million to do so which means it will be in very playable conditions long after the Nationwide tour event.

SIMPLE, just make sure if you are playing after 11AM like we did, it's very easy to position your cart away from the sprinklers, most of the watering is taking place near the green to grow the rough.

The bunkers on the front 9 were being prepared, they had a blueish color inside the bunkers (fertilizer?) while the sand was hard pan. The bunkers on the back 9 were completely filled with white fluffy sand! So it looks like then front 9 bunkers were not filled with the fluffy sand just make a note.

The greens are almost in perfect condition! Currently the greens have very small tiny straight lines in the contours but all putts were smooth and true held the intended line are slow by comparison. I expect they'll be rolled a few times per week then cut lower which means a whole lot more speed, closer to tournament conditions!

The fairways are far better than expected, not a bad lie anywhere to really be a problem. The are being watered to help the Bermuda grass grown.The rough is very thick in spots, some areas you might be able to get away with. It's at least 3 inches right now and your club just gets caught. The rough will only grow higher in the next 2 weeks.One hole #6 PAR 5 I tried to take a shortcut (RIGHT) thru the trees & paid dearly for it! I should have just punched back out to the fairway,try to make par from there. With the rough thicker now, it's not worth it...

The golf carts all have a GPS unit to help guide you around the course, the yardages on the GPS are to the center of the green only! At this course they use a small "RED" flag on the flagstick to identify the pin position. LOW position red flag means front pin area, MEDIUM position red flag means middle green area & HIGH position on the red flag means back of the green area. We had our GPS hand held units that worked perfectly. All of the sprinkler heads are marked just to the center of the green, there are no 100/150/200 yard markers (poles).

I played as far back as I could since most of the GOLD tees were closed preparing for the tournament.
Black Tees: HOLE #7 is a bear PAR 4 - 460 yards while HOLE #16 PAR 5 was set at 450 for my round. All of the Par 3's are average length. Some of the PAR 4's can bite you if not careful. Pay attention to the hidden water hazard (left) on hole #14.

I've always liked this layout..For some people, maybe not worth the drive but for us it's worth it especially when it wasn't crowded and took advantage of the online deal thru the Soboba Springs website! Saved us $1.99 each for NOT paying the golf now booking fee...
