Fun time with the GK crew... The course was in great condition overall. Greens as everyone else has mentioned were awesome, challenging and fast at times. Although firm and fast the greens held shots that were hit on it (only had one shot run off after it hit the green but that ball was coming in hot. Bunkers were in good condition, fairways roped off properly, tee boxes in decent shape. I had an issue with the rough, too many bare spots in the rough. I would definitely come back to this course. A very challenging layout that's quite fun to play.

Cross Creek was immense for this weekend's GK Plays. It felt to me in various corners of the course a lot like what Lost Canyons or Robinson Ranch should look like right now, but are far from it.

Cross Creek was immense for this weekend's GK Plays. It felt to me in various corners of the course a lot like what Lost Canyons or Robinson Ranch should look like right now, but are far from it.

I absolutely loved the setting, winding through the canyons and woods, then flattening out around the vineyards, all the while each hole being interesting, unique and challenging. I also enjoyed the tips on a few of the more difficult tee shot holes giving each golfer advice on how best to approach them, although it's pretty hard to know what to do on #10 with no reference point at all to where the green is if you're near the fairway bunker!

So yeah, wonderful location and a place I would love to play again with some better course knowledge now. I found the conditions all very agreeable. The greens were in very good shape although they did seem to vary in speed from hole to hole, but also what time of day. They proved pretty receptive to good shots and penalizing to the wayward.

Fairways were generally in good condition, and the rough was often thick and penalizing, but I always felt there were fair lines to get out of jail and back into the fairway, despite the large number of doglegs, twists and turns.

Never hit a sand trap all day (shocking!) so can't speak other than what I saw with the others in my group (and Al, Andy and Mattias and I all had a great time), and that all looked pretty good. A few of the tee boxes could have been in a little better shape (were they recently punched?), but that wasn't anywhere near being bad enough to consider it a knock on this great track.

As others have said, it's a small clubhouse and unfortunately they seemed a bit understaffed to handle all of the GKers, but they made it work best they could - difficult situation I'm sure, however on the course saw the cart gal numerous times so that was good.

Great layout again, so many interesting and really fun holes. Planning a wine tasting trip to Temecula with the fam pretty soon so I am certainly planning on taking a drive back up that hill to get to this place, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Played with the Supreme Leader, JohnnyGK, as well as Itslikeimsayin and eaglee in the lead group at the GK Plays on 5/15/16. Thanks to them for an enjoyable round on a cool breezy afternoon, although I don’t think any of us were sharp in terms of our game.

The course looked great from all angles and greens were very good – smooth, lush, and holding good shots. Speeds were medium-fast to start and increased as the afternoon went on, so we were challenged to handle the speed and lines. Great lies in the fairways, but rough varied from cut short and dry to deep and lush.

Traps were generally in good shape with an adequate playing layer. Tees were generally OK, although several were pretty rough and bumpy. The course is challenging in many areas where hitting lanes are narrow, creeks must be crossed (duh!), and plateau greens are significantly elevated and firm.

This was my first time back here since the GK Event in 2011. I wish this course was a little more convenient to south Orange County – I would enjoy playing it more often.

I was another lucky golfer who got a spot at the GK Plays yesterday. It was an awesome day seeing so many people who I hadn't in awhile like Jim, Sal, John, Ben, Kevin, etc. Always good to get the band back together! Really stoked to play with Tim, Brian and Kevin again. Lots of laughs and good times even if our golf games weren't as sharp as we would have liked. Thanks to Johnny for a killer day and to the CrossCreek staff who did an awesome job. Like others have mentioned, the staff handled the rush at the end of the day with class and efficiency and should be commended. As for the golf course, I'm a total CrossCreek fanboy so I'll try and also provide a little info that could be helpful and not just stick to my normal puppy dogs and ice cream point of view. Here are my thoughts on the course conditions: Tees: Definitely need some work. I actually never care about turf coverage (I actually prefer NO grass to too much grass when it comes to tee boxes), but what I do notice is when it's tough to get a flat lie. We played the blue tees and I noticed on a couple holes,notably 17, that there were some challenges finding a flat place to play. You could see work being done so that's good and I for 99% of the time I had no problem at all. Fairways: Overall really good. I never had a bad lie the entire day, but there were a couple areas I noticed that were either too wet (sprinkler issue mentioned?) or a little tight, but I never found those spots so it wasn't an issue at all. Definitely a plus. Rough: It was the rough, so I deserved what I got. You only get a certain amount of leeway here when it comes to hitting the ball offline, so i think the fact that they let the rough grow a little and keep it thick is more of a plus than a negative. Big bounces could be punishing. Bunkers: I was in one and it was hard as a rock. That being said, it was that huge one about 60 yards in front of the 11th green and I hit two sucky shots to end up there, so I can't complain. Maybe they let those play as waste bunkers and allow practice swings and grounding the club(?). Could be a way to ease the sting and not have to go through the expensive care it takes for white, fluffy sand. Just a thought... Greens: These are some of the trickiest greens I've played around here and I had a tough time all day. That being said, the quality was fantastic as they held shots, rolled true and were extremely healthy. Major plus for the course. Layout: I'm in love with this place. It's a gorgeous setting, extremely challenging from any tees and there's subtleties to so many holes that I find something new I like about this course every time I play it. I keep CrossCreek in my rotation at all times and tell everyone to get out and play, it's just a great day of golf waiting to be enjoyed!

Just a quick review. Played yesterday during GK Plays. Tough course in decent shape. had a lot of fun playing with Kevin for the match play and a pleasure to Meet Lee.

Tee's- chewed up and not a ton of grass. It looks like they are working on it though but tough to find a good place to tee on par threes and layup holes.

Fairway- good coverage mostly green but be carefull because you could have uneven lies due to the elevations on this course

Green's- soft and quick be careful with speed on putts as most holes were on a ridge and you could miss the hole by 1 inch and the ball could roll 10ft away

Sand- I was in three sand trap all were wet and hard to get under the ball it ruined my scores on all three holes as the ball came launching out.

Rough- immediate rough is nice but there is a lot of native land with lots of places to lose a ball and trust me I did.

In all fun course bring extra golfballs and a crappy club to punch out of native areas so you dont ruin your good clubs.

Made a late decision to play in Sunday's GK Event and was so glad I did. Cross Creek GC never seems to pop up on my radar...haven't set foot on the grounds in 10 years...but that may change after yesterday's experience. Not only is it one of the more challenging layouts in Southern California, the remoteness and solitude one feels is a welcome change from the run-of-the-mill housing tract developments that are all too common. Front and back nines each possess their own characteristics and personality, thereby eliminating monotony and boredom from the equation. There's plenty of challenge wrapped up in the sprawling layout that will test all talent levels but be sure to select the proper tee box; despite the less-than-oppressive yardage numbers, I think the course plays longer than the scorecard would indicate. Mix in some soft fairways with a steady wind and you'll have plenty to handle. Course conditions were good despite a few areas that were less than ideal but I'm willing to overlook those isolated flaws...thin tee boxes, wet turf, portions of the fairway that should have been marked GUR...because the greens were about as good as anyone could hope for. Smooth, quick, receptive to well-struck shots, they were an absolute joy to putt on and in excellent shape. I was especially cognizant of how easy it was to repair ball marks and how "clean" the finished product looked. Whether it's through the efforts of the maintenance staff, the people who play here on a regular basis, or a combination of both, the presentation of these putting surfaces was impressive. I can deal with issues from tee-to-green on any course as long as the greens are top-notch, and that certainly is the case at Cross Creek. With the exception of some surface damage on Hole #2, they were just about flawless. As alluded to in many other posts, the staff at Cross Creek couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating. Despite being overwhelmed with food orders following the round, Brent and his staff were cheerful and pleasant, with no evidence of anxiety to be seen on their faces. It really was a nice way to bookend the day and this level of genuine customer service did not go unnoticed. Thanks again to Johnny for putting Cross Creek into the GK Events mix; I've got to think the positive response from the consensus will definitely result in a return visit. And I'd also like to thank my playing partners, Kathie, Bill, and Wendy, for providing such wonderful company; it sure made for a fun day.

Played in the GK event on Sunday. Had a ton of fun. First time playing in the Temecula. Loved the course setting, no homes, course fitting in to the natural terrain. You definitely need to play this course a few times to figure out what club to pull and direction. Not much more to add to what already has been said, but my 2 cents. Greens, highlight of the course, smooth, subtle breaks that leave you scratching your head. I think our group made one putt over 5 feet. Tee boxes on certain holes (played the whites), were chewed up and difficult to find a nice area to tee off from. Some wetness in the fairways, but believe they watered not thinking we were going to have a cool overcast day. If it was sunny and warm, the mushy areas would of dried out. Bunkers, greenside were good, a couple of the fairway bunkers were more mud than sand. Customer service was top notch, several thanked me for coming, and there was a genuineness that makes me want to come back. Thanks Johnny for another great outing, and would definitely come back to play this course.

Played yesterday with GKplays. I had so much fun, paired with Bill, Kathy and Jeff.. This is one of my favorite courses. The course is beautiful and other than a few wet, mushy spots on a couple of fairways, the conditions were near perfect, especially the greens! To me, the best part of playing here is the birds and wind being the only sounds you hear while on the course. Thanks to the CrossCreek staff, and of course, Johnny, for another wonderful outing.

Wow, not a lot to add to all the previous reviews. All the other course condition descriptions are spot on. Personally speaking, I would like more generous landing areas; mostly because I don't know where my ball is going half the time. I liked the water bottles and yardage book provided. Customer service was super good; I had very positive interactions with everyone here. The pro shop gave me another yardage book and went over several of the holes with me, giving me some tips. The snack shop made a super good breakfast burrito at a reasonable price. The pretty cart girl was a nice touch: Hey, 16 oz. PBRs at $5 each; she came around three times, then went into the kitchen to cook for us after the round. Thank you, young lady! Big thanks to Johnny and Cross Creek for the great event!
