As with the previous reviews, played with the GK event on 5/15. There's so much to write about in terms of course conditions but everyone will touch on the same things so I'll write a slightly different review that may sound a bit critical but it's only to focus on improvement.

Tee-boxes: More than a few were not level and chewed up enough that it was hard to find a nice place to tee it up. Glad to see a variety of tee box options but by playing the whites (corresponding to my handicap), a few holes played up to gold tee box level.

Fairways: Good condition overall but there were more than a few areas that were patchy or super damp and muddy.

Rough: Okay in general but like the fairways largely inconsistent; some rough was severely penal other areas just bare.

Bunkers: IMO what was the weakest part of the course. The "sand" in most bunkers was dirt-like and some even had rocks in them. Somewhat difficult to hit out of.

Greens: Excellent! Though I must say that our group beloved the practice green was much quicker than the course greens.

ETC: Staff was beyond kind. Cart girl came around twice. Nice to see water on the carts and throughout the course. Overall a really great time.

Another great day at CrossCreek along with the GK Plays crowd. We had a great turnout and a fun bunch of people as always. Not much to add to Jim and Kevin's reviews of the conditions. Good to very good is a nice description. A few of the white tee boxes could use some leveling out and the par-3s were pretty chewed up. The fairways were very nice overall. The greens were the highlight. Lower-trajectory shots were hard to hold, so you have to come in with some spin or height to stop the ball sometimes.

CrossCreek is always one of my favorite SoCal courses. The setting is so peaceful and the layout is anything but boring. Every hole offers a different challenge and I used just about every club in my bag today. It was a good day, made great in the company of GK'ers! Thanks to John, Kristie and Willie for the fun round, and to Johnny for setting up the event. Also, kudos to the kitchen staff. They weren't really equipped to handle such a big group and a large number of food orders, but they made it happen and served some delicious food. The burger at dinner was really good and I had a buffalo chicken wrap for lunch that was also quite tasty.

Just got back from the GK Plays event @ Cross Creek (thank you Johnny!) and as usual it was a great time with fellow GK'ers! Service from all the staff encountered was impeccable all day. Nice grass range to warm up and large putting green next to the clubhouse and range. Course conditions were mostly good to very good with the greens being the highlight. They were semi-firm but would hold well struck shots. Rolling quick and mostly smooth although some slight bumps were encountered later in the day as to be expected on Poa. Tees, fairways, bunkers, and rough were all quite nice with some areas of rough that were well...rough. Some wiry grass, bare patches, and clumpy areas were present but for the most part it was good coverage. Love the location and layout of Cross Creek with some tight driving holes on the back that really make you think before you tee off. Some of the holes on the back reminded me of La Purisma with the hills and oaks. Lastly, this could be good or bad depending on your perspective, but don't expect to have ANY cell service out here. Just peaceful, enjoyable golf! Will be back again and highly recommended.

Another fun Gk event at another quality course. This was my second visit to CCGC and like the first I really enjoyed the layout and overall conditions. It was cloudy, a bit cool and the wind was definitely a factor.
Tee boxes: level with ample room to play from
Fairways: good coverage with a bit of roll out, always had a good lie and was able to hit 3 wood a couple times without much concern
Rough: wiry, not long, but grabby
Bunkers: I was in one green side bunker and was very good to play from
Greens: firm, but not overly so, you could stop the ball and make a mark but you better have some spin or elevation. They rolled well, were quite fast and hard to read . . . some good examples of good golf course architecture as it was often difficult to discern which way the slope went
POP: 4:45 We only really waiting on 13 a difficult driving hole
Customer service: everyone of the staff I encountered was friendly and professional, saw the snack cart multiple times and in the clubhouse the same young lady that drove the cart cooked for us and seemed to do a fine job of keeping up with the instant flow of hungry golfers
Overall: good course, good conditions and a place, although an hour drive from home, that I will return to again and again Thanks to the staff and Johnny for putting this together

played here in late morning with some friends, it was a bit of a drive from orange county but i think it was worth it. hadn't been out here in a few years. check in was very friendly, the cashier took our reservation, asked if we had been there before, told us the course was in great condition, and wished us a wonderful day. starter got us out right on time. course was in good condition except for the teeboxes. we played the blues, and i noticed a few including the first was muddy and didnt' have much grass where the markers were set. fairways were in good condition without any bare spots, and rough was up and penal, fairly consistent. had some pins in tough positions, but the greens rolled well and predictably. i was not in any bunkers. POP was a good four hours. we fell back of the group in front a bit but the group behind also fell back so we were pretty much alone on the course. i like the layout of the course, and the serenity of being in the middle of nowhere. it can be very tough target golf at times though especially when the wind is up. my least favorite is probably hole 13 as it's a partially blind tee shot and you never really know where the ball will end up. still a gorgeous day to be out golfing.

I played yesterday, 4-19-16 with Sydney703. It had been a couple years since my last round there so I was looking forward to a ‘refresher’ prior to the GK outing next month. We had a voucher $69/2 players/unlimited golf, including drink w/ free refills. It was a beautiful, 87 degrees with a little wind. We teed off a little after 10am, paired up with a very nice couple.

The course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen it. The tee boxes were quite thin and were punched recently, but they were level and there was plenty of space between all the holes to place a tee. The fairways were almost completely green, with only a few bare spots. Most of the many bunkers I was in were very fluffy, but there were a few that were hard or wet/muddy. The greens were very smooth, very firm, and surprisingly slow. That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, considering some of the slopes. I was saved from chasing what could have been many runaway balls. Much of the brush on the slopes has been cut back, improving both the appearance and the chances of finding wayward balls.

We saw two coyotes on the 18th, which I always enjoy, but what really surprised me was how LOUD was the noise of bees in the trees around the course. It wasn’t a hum, it was roar- very fascinating. Fortunately the only time I actually saw bees was when they seemed to be attracted to the bright pink marks on my balls. I had to putt a few times with bees hovering there.

Our first round took 4.25 hours, the second just about 3.5 hours. I’m excited to play there again soon.

Played this course Sunday 4/3. Got a 4some on for $38/each with the Underpar coupon from a few months ago. GREAT pace of play for a Sunday, teed off at 11:45am, no one in front of us all day even though it was a mild 80* Sunday.
Tee boxes in pretty good shape all around, fairways and rough are as well. Was in a couple bunkers and those were pretty hard even though there hasn't been any rain in a while. The greens were decent shape having just been sanded, but they were actually deceptively fast.
A couple holes are pretty narrow and many punish you for not hitting a good tee shot, either with a long or blind/blocked approach shot.
All in all, a pretty good course and I will play it again. If you find a coupon out there for under $50 I would highly recommend grabbing it.

teed off 3/20 at 6:50 with Nickesquire as a 2 with GK voucher(thanks Johnny). A little wet with dew, but no fog, which can be a factor this time of year, especially on 1 and 2. Tee boxes were okay. Fairways were good, nice coverage, well defined. Rough was very good, lush green and made a difference if you put it there. Bunkers had good sand, a little heavy with the dew. Green collars were in good condition. Greens were very nice, medium speed, quicker heading south than north. The closest house was a driver and three wood away, and they are estates, really just something to admire. Large practice putting green was consistent with the greens on the course. Grass driving range looked nice. Pro shop staff was excellent as was starter and snack lady. No drink cart on Monday. Nick loved his ham sandwich and they have 805 and Sculpin on tap. I wish there was an extra number for those courses where you just feel like you got away, this one would get a 10.

Played the Blues (6290/71.2/132) with 140ver and another 2 some in 4H, 45M using the GK Coupon. The weather was nice, in the 80's, partly cloudy with a little breeze. The tees were Okay overall. Some lush, some thin and several could use divot repair. Most of the fairways were decent to good. Good coverage, mostly good lies to play from. A couple different fairways had some areas that either were or should be GUR. The rough was thick, lush and penal. You could forget longer clubs. The sand was slightly better than average. Decently maintained with average quality sand. The greens were medium to medium fast with few ball marks. They held approach shots well and were fairly smooth to putt on. There did not seem to be a water shortage here. Some casual water areas around a few greens and the rough was thick n wet. The customer service from everyone encountered was excellent. No drink cart or Marshall out patrolling. Their fountain drinks were both reasonably priced & refillable, which ended up being a good deal on a hot day. Prices at the snack bar were reasonable for a golf course. A good, not a great course, but one definitely worth playing. Everything was above average. I would not hesitate to recommend this course.
