Love playing here!
Beautiful views and a big variety of golf holes, -no two the same. Course is in excellent condition with the exception of a few of the bunkers needing a little work (very firm).

Tee'd it up with Gregholla yesterday for our GK CUP match. Tee time was 710 which was second off. We followed a two some that disappeared after one hole and we were left as the pace setters for the day. The driving range and practice area is decent and plenty of room to warm up.

As for the course conditions I would rate this course an 8 out of 10 right now.

The tee boxes have grown in nicely and they are mostly level with plenty of space to choose from.

The fairways might be the best I have ever seen on this course. All cut to a nice short length with full coverage throughout the course. I hope this keeps up through the harsh summer.

The rough was very penal and made hitting out of it a ROUGH time,see what I did there :) , it was consistently 3-5 inches deep and would grab your club like no way I have experienced before. There was also good coverage throughout the course.

The Greens were by far the toughest that I have played in quite a while. They were Firm, Fast, and smooth. All the greens have false edges surrounding the perimeter and with the greens being real firm and fast it made keeping shots on the green very tough. The greens are also tough to read because of the speed, what looks like a one cup break left may easily miss the hole by two feet to the left due to the quickness and slope of the greens.

AS for the sand. There are not a ton of bunkers on the course but the two that I found as well as the few my partners found were all in bad shape. The sand was like clay and made you launch the ball out and way over the green. There seems to be no sand and its all just compacted clay. Im sure there are good bunkers on the course but the ones we found were just in very tough condition.

IN all it was a fun day and for a regular rate of 65 from their website I will gladly return. One note is if you play after 10am your round can be very slow so please be prepared for a long day. You do get look to look at all of the scenery which helps a lot.

I give it a two thumbs up!

Played Wednesday, 3/8 as part a GK Guru outing with gary00 and alan_grant. Great deal and tough to pass up. Thanks johnnygk! Our pace of play was about 3.5 hours. We caught up with a 4 some on the 3rd hole and they let us play through which was great as they fell way back. Have not played here in several years and was very surprised to see so many cars in the parking lot. Nice to see as the last time I was here, which was also during the week, had very few cars. Great customer service. Walked up to the starter and when I mentioned I was with the GK group, the GM, Dave Garner came out to say hello. It was so nice of him to come out, shake hands and thank us for coming out. Very classy. Of course, we caught this course on a great day. A little warm but not much wind to speak of. The course is in great shape and is fun to play. Some of the holes were weird, particularly on the back. Pretty narrow and some blind landing areas. Don’t have to use driver on many of the holes. The scenery is fabulous on the back 9. Had to stop and take some pictures. The course is playing great right now. Fairways were in great shape. Didn’t have a bad lie out there but you can’t be spraying it around or it will be un playable. The rough was thick but was able to get a club on the ball. Tee boxes were fine. Some were being worked on and were covered with sand but for the most part all of the tee boxes were in pretty good shape. I was only in one bunker and it was hard pan. I am guessing the other bunkers were similar. The greens! Ah the Greens! Well, they were in great shape. Fast and rolled true but were hard. Couldn’t hold em’. Very few ball marks out there so you always had a nice role but there were some undulations with significant breaks. Having not played this course in several years, I forgot many of the holes and course knowledge is essential here. As such, a big thank you to Alan who was great in guiding us through the course. And thank you Gary for being a great cart partner! All in all a great day out at Cross Creek. This course is a must play.

3/8 happily played with gurus allan_grant and larryq2001 on a beautiful spring am with conditions being quite ideal. The course has some of the best aesthetics around very scenic and idyllic. Fairways generally have excellent cover--with good lies and cushion while also being firm enough to give extra roll. #1 had a cluster of divots(about 1/2 filled) around the 150 pole which is a favored landing area--only noticeable damage and #7 was unusually thin in places with different types of grasses creating a kind of clumpy condition where the ball sat down between the small clumps--did not encounter anything similar elsewhere.
Rough about 1-1 1/2 inches along fairways with a light consistency that was quite playable allowing for pretty good contact with the proper swing. Rough around greens a little longer and much thicker and way more of a challenge both to judge the lie and effect on the club and proper force required. I tended to get it right about 70% of the time but did not reward myself with a descent shot followed by a good 1 putt.
Tees mostly had good cover with#12 being the exception having been completely sanded.
Found greenside bunker on 10 which was packed sand with about 1/2 inch of sand over wet dirt. From observation most bunkers looked to have much better conditions. According to Chuck the friendly and very informative starter the course had 4 inches of rain from the last storm and had advised that even though the bunkers are being refurbished some had suffered from the heavy rain. He was really upbeat about current owners commitment to keep pushing improvements.
Greens were fast smooth FIRM with subtle breaks.. Could not blame the greens for my misses--oh so close so often--Larry by the way putted lights out. Greens were not fully receptive as many shots seemed to carry long and chips and pitches had to be played to account for the roll out.
Thanks to Cross Creek for their welcoming and friendly staff.
The course is located off the beaten path but is well worth the extra drive time and with the GK voucher it is a real bargain while providing a good test for your game.
