Played CrossCreek on 12/3/18, my first time out here in 11 years. Still a great course layout in an awesome location. Coyotes everywhere, and the howling show they put on in an amphitheater setting on the back 9 was something I will remember.

As for the course, age is taking it's toll on the edges of the course. The greens are excellent, the fairways are decent, but the rough is very inconsistent. It looks like a course that it past it's prime, and the dry natural areas are starting to encroach and impact the rough.

10 years ago this was one of my favorites. If I was local, I'd still play here as the layout and the location is special. But I don't think I'll make the >1 hour drive to play here again for a while.

Played with my club last week and the course was what I expected in late fall. Tee boxes were thin on some holes but easy to find a level spot to put in your peg. Fairways were thin but very playable if you found a flat spot hopefully. Rough was thin/wispy grasses we are used to in the I.E. Bunkers were a tad wet but I didnt have any issues getting up and down. Greens were quick with some pitch damages that some lazy people dont fix. I birdied the 9th hole number one handicap so at least I had one good moment on an otherwise poor playing day for me.
Customer service was great.

Played 11/2 at 9:30 with Malcolm and Murph. Got us out right on time. Didn't see anybody in front until 18 and though our buddies teed off right behind us, didn't see them again until the bar. Just sporadic play on that Friday; always a group or two around, but lots of open holes. Pro shop was friendly and helpful. Tee boxes were fine. Fairways were good, as was the rough. Collars and aprons were better than I've seen them in a while with overseeded areas coming in nicely, but still some bare spots around the greens. Bunkers had decent sand but were inconsistent: some packed, some fluffy. Greens were very good, much harder than they looked and rolling medium fast. I haven't played here in a couple years and it seemed they've removed a few traps, but it still plays plenty tough. The greens did not hold especially well and most shots ran to the back of the green or off the back. While the santa ana breeze may have contributed some, those greens definitely run away from you, so be forewarned. If you've enjoyed this course in the past it is a great time to do so again.

Played a Fathers Day round here with the boys. As we are all Dads we got a return certificate to play again. Nice touch.

This is a tough but fair design. Love how it’s remote setting with no homes makes it so peaceful and scenic. Greens were super smooth. Fairways and tee boxes are in good shape. Only demerit is for the dicey sand traps, either nice and fluffy sand, hard dirt or even mud.

Customer service is outstanding. Friendly and informative counter and starter staff. The nice kid in the cart barn took out our Breakfast to catch them up to us on the course. Easily the best part of the experience. We will definitely be back.

We out to the hills for some peace and quiet with my clubs. After leaving work at 90*----landed at 430 at Cross Creek in 76* weather. Ocean breezes through the hills and just a spiritual calmness. Teed off after being waved by.... Tough track as always. Fairways in great shape, green GREAT shape--fast poa annua. Healed up nicely. Bunkers were a mix--very firm for the most part--just dont swing as hard....less bounce on the club. The low point is when ya get off the fairways to the clumpy, crappy dirt/weed mix--dont go there. Fast 3:10 POP even waiting for a group on a few holes. Luckily they bounced and I had the back to myself to practice around a few of the green complexes.
Hit it if you can get it!

Played my home track today. Course punched greens 10days ago. They need another 7-10 days for complete healing. Always tranquil and enjoyable at Cross Creek. Staff is awesome. Course is being worked on hard by greens crew. 2 weeks and course will be top notch. The greenskeeper deal is best deal going. Looking forward to Temecula valley am April 29th. Course is a 6.5 right now. Trending to an 8.5 by end of month.

Third off in the morning with a finish of a little of four hours. Those who play here know that a quick round is usually not going to be the case. The staff knows of Mr. GK here very well! The tees were all in nice shape with a few being a little sloped and thin. The fairways look very green and are in real good condition but most were very firm with large bounces and roll (not always in the right direction). The grass in the fairways was thick from the recent rains and kept the ball up nicely for approach shots. The rain also has made the rough treacherous to hit from but it will keep most off line shots in play (just very difficult to play from). The green side rough is also extremely thick and swallows up shots that do not find the putting surface. The traps were the low point of the round. All were in need of sand and seriously in need of a good raking. Some of the green side traps were damp mud with standing water. I'm sure that the course will have the traps in much better condition by months end when they host the Temecula Valley Amateur. The greens will be punched in a couple days and the are in need of it. Most of the greens had quite a bit of roll out and were not holding shots great. The rain has also slowed down the greens and many were somewhat bumpy. Those that have played here a few times know the greens are usually very quick and true - I'm sure in a couple weeks that the greens will be in fantastic shape. The GPS on the old rickety carts has helped those who don't use range finders. The front nine is fairly flat while the back nine has elevation changes and more difficult layouts. The surrounding area and views along with the wildlife make this an enjoyable course to play. Highly recommended

Used a Gk coupon today to play CrossCreek. Tee'd off a little early with a two some and finished in 4.5 hours waiting at times as the course was fully booked this morning. The cart girl came around a few times and the meal I got from the GK coupon was a tasty Ham Sandwich with Chips. ($10 value)


This is one of my favorite course due to its seclusion from the outside world. As they advertise No homes, No Roads, No Noise. You can also add No CELL service which make the round that much more enjoyable.

Conditions are decent right now. They definitely water this course a bunch as all of the traps were wet as wells as low lying areas and Tee boxes. You could say borderline muddy. The fairways a mix of dormant and lush grass rarely bare ran for days and you could out run the fairways as I did a couple times. Greens were mostly firm and lightning fast but held flops and pitches nicely. The sand was too firm for my liking but I was only in 1 trap so not much a rating.

Over all I love this course and the coupon makes it a much better deal even though rack rate is only about $60.

Taking advantage of a GK groupon, secured the first time off at 6:10am. Rather brisk out with temperatures in the high 40"s. No issue with pace of play obviously. Staff was great as usual and check in was fast and efficient.

Course was in good shape, with the greens being the best part. They were reasonably quick and rolled true. We caught the mowers on #11, so the last 7 holes were not cut, much slower, but still rolled well. Fairways were fine, but the rough was very "clumpy" where the ball would settle in between tuffs of grass. Bunkers were very wet in places, to the point where it was like playing from mud. Tee boxes were very shaggy and need to be mowed.

Enjoy this course, in large part because of the setting. Very tranquil and peaceful, without roads, homes, or adjacent holes. Lots of coyotes this morning. I enjoy the wildlife which is a reason I prefer early morning golf. ( That plus the pace of play factor )
