I’m a 16 handicap and found this course to be a solid challenge for me to assess where my game is.

Much harder than it looks and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fairways were wet and there were some mud patches and bunkers were caked.

I used the GK Special to play Wednesday, 7/3, teeing off at about 9am. WHAT A DEAL! I hadn't played CrossCreek in over five years, and I had forgotten what a nice layout it is, and the unspoiled area surrounding the course is really beautiful. Course conditions were very good, overall. The tee boxes were mostly fine, with some understandable distress on the shorter par threes. Fairways were mostly great, with some absolutely perfect lies in many cases (just like on TV). The bunkers were well maintained, with the heavier brown sand. The greens were the best part. Mostly medium-fast, but certain putts in certain directions ran out way more than I anticipated. I found that it was a good strategy to be less aggressive on most putts. Pace of play was great. I played as a single and only played through one group at the turn. I finished in under 3 hours, often hitting practice shots along the way. I highly recommend CrossCreek at this time, especially with the GK Special. THANKS, JOHNNY!

Played here 6/30/19 with a 7:00am tee time. My friend and I were paired with another 2 some which eventually broke from us on hole 12. Pace of play was 4.5 hours. Saw the cart girl 3 times. Staff was extremely friendly. Dave in the pro-shop was very kind and welcoming.

Now for course conditions:
Greens- 10/10 PERFECT! They started off slow but sped up tremendously as the sun dried them out. Everything rolled true and all ball marks looked to be fixed when walking up to green.
Fairways- 9/10 GREAT!- Trim, Green with perfect amount of roll after the flight. Hole #13 and #18 had some dead spots and Ground under repair roped of but still amazing fairways.
Rough- 7/10 GOOD! Definitely penalty worthy. A little too long to play out of. Felt like I was playing bethpage black anytime I wasn't in the fairway.
Sand- Believe it or not our entire foursome never went in a sand trap the entire course! I can't review because of this. However the sand traps looked well manicured and didnt look to have any growth in them.
Water- Water on holes 8 and 9 seemed to be clean and clear.
Tee Boxes- 10/10 PERFECT! If you come to this course the best part of it is the greens, fairways and tee boxes.

Beautiful course! We played from the Blue tees and I shot an even 100 playing PGA rules. Tough course! I am a 16 handicap. Love the challenge though and heads up #18 has a blind approach shot to the green.

Played CrossCreek on 6/28/19. It is a long haul to get here from San Clemente, so I don't get out here often. After playing here yesterday, maybe I should get a Prius so that the cost to get out here isn't so bad. Maybe a helicopter - a quick flight over Pendleton before they notice. Unfortunately, for the first time I can in from the north, and GPS took me by a route which ended up being a couple of miles of unpaved rocky road. OUCH! My little Madza sedan survived.

The course is in fantastic condition right now. Greens are what I consider perfect, smooth, soft, quick but not insane. I made zero putts. Maybe I shouldn't like the greens. But I do.

Fairways are nice, good grass coverage, very few (if any) bad spots. The rough is very thick right off the fairway, but gets patchy on the edges near the native areas. Tee boxes were nice.

Great course!

Playing Cross Creek this morning only reinforced my recollection of what a wonderful golf course this is. I've played here a number of times over the years, and believe it is in the best condition I have seen it. Greens rolled true, held the shots, fairways and rough excellent. Bunkers were too wet, probably from overnight sprinklers?

Let me say that when your game is "off" as mine has been and was today, this can be one tough golf course. I mean the course just beat the crap out of me, and yet I can say I walked off and thoroughly enjoyed playing the course. Now that speaks volumes.

Used the Greenskeeper certificate for $39, which included a very nice breakfast off the menu. A great deal ! Thanks Johnny !

My only complaint was that our threesome made the turn being first off in about 1 hour 20 minutes only to find two groups stacked up Then we had a foursome drive by on #13 I guess because they didn't want to wait? Very poor management by the course. I did not get up at 3:30am and drive for 80+ miles so I could wait on people who decided they did not wish to wait. Called the pro shop and was told " some members think they own the course" Sorry, but the responsibility falls on the staff to insure this does not happen. I have played here many times and LOVE the course, but will not return if this becomes standard practice.

I was in Temecula and asked the esteemed JohnnyGK for a course recommendation. He said get out and play Cross Creek on the coupon so that’s what I did. I played on Tuesday 6/18 with a 1040 tee time. A great course at a great price. The conditions were truly unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. A fairly short course but providing plenty of challenge. Fairways were in mostly good shape with some bare spots but numerous wet spots throughout. The greens were very receptive and a pleasure to hit both full shots and pitches. Sand traps were all fair and had plenty of sand. The rough was penal but still allowed you to attempt to make a recovery. The tee boxes were not in as good of shape. Many were set in uneven areas. The course had enough of a variety of holes to keep me interested. The views alone are worth the price of admission. A truly fun and visually exciting course. I was surprised at the lack of play going on as we didn’t see many people out save for a few singles. Cross Creek is definitely a course to play at this time.

Was in Temecula for Father's Day so went to Cross Creek at 6:30 am as a single and got right out. I joined a local member on the first tee that is a local doctor in Temucula and we had a great time. The course is in as good of shape as I have ever seen. Tees were level and you could always find a nice area to hit from, the fairways were excellent with only a few areas that needed to be marked GUR, the rough was penal but fair, and the greens were really nice however a little slow for my taste but still rolled true and held shots. The bunkers were the low point....muddy, no sand, and almost unplayable. I really enjoy the coursse layout here. Short holes, long holes, uphill, downhill, doglegs, forced carries, everything is present. Great test of golf so pick the right tees and have fun! Recommended for sure.

Enjoyed the Blues today as a single, off at 10–starter kindly saw I was putting and might be ready, invited me to go early to get ahead of potentially slow twosome with an earlier tee time than mine; smart and aware, not as common as it should be for guys who get paid to “start” players off. Finished in 3.25 hours, easily could have been 2:45 but I have some new irons and took some extra shots here and there to test wedges and the like. Really never saw anyone else all day except from a distance of several holes. Haven’t played here in some 12 years, was great to find it in such nice shape overall, and the routing and variation is really something to see—front nine is flatter and woodsier, back is very hilly and a bit more quirky. There is a vineyard in the middle of the course, and a lot of environmentally sensitive areas and a need for regular brush clearance on the edges of the course, but they keep up with that and it looks cared for, not scraggly. The grass range is not what it should be for a course this good, lousy targets, bumpy grass, no sand or chipping green despite room to have those—I like to practice, so a good practice facility is essential to my enjoyment, but it was passable and, again, is grass. Large practice putting green with some flat areas, always a bonus (should be required, but is rare). No cart service today. A very quiet clubhouse and pro shop—weekday yes, but still surprised this place is not way more busy, it deserves to be. Some roughed up tees, and the traps need beaucoup work (from thin to muddy), but the fairways are great, the greens roll true if not quite as fast as they should be, and there are some beautifully designed holes front and back, really good use of the topography, I used every club today. Some great vistas on the inward 9, and front 9 is very “Oregon.” Overall this is a terrific facility with nice staff and a reasonable rate and good pace of play and it beats Redhawk and Temecula Creek Inn easily, so is not to be missed when in the area—and worth a drive for its own virtues. I recommend it highly, especially the front 9.

Played a nice twilight round on Friday at CrossCreek and the only disappointment was the terrible wi-fi reception in the clubhouse while trying to get work done ahead of the round knowing that there is no signal for the most part out on the course. Still baffling how this can be an issue in 2019, but I'm sure there are plenty of days total isolation is a good thing.

As for the course itself, fun as ever and in very good condition overall. The fairways are definitely in good shape and you'll have only the rarest poor lie throughout your round. Rough is thick in places and the OB areas are brutal. This is a very target-oriented course so if you're off at all, you're going to suffer a lot of penalties. Very unforgiving in that regard.

Greens were running pretty quick and were in good shape. I saw others hitting the greens and sticking them, so I'm guessing they held shots well, but none of my approaches ever found the mark (it's been a rough few weeks). Tee boxes were mostly in good shape with a few uneven or questionable in relation to other healthier areas, but nothing awful. And the bunkers were better than just okay but not quite very good. Did that make any sense?

A lot of great holes at CrossCreek for sure, but as previously mentioned, you're going to need to be sharp with your accuracy and distance. The front nine has a lot of narrow tee shots to contend with while being mostly flat, while the back nine has way more elevations but a little more room off the tee in some cases. But overall, it's a tough but fun and rewarding track.

Surprisingly, POP was an issue though. While the clubhouse and range looked relatively empty ahead of our tee time, things backed up very quickly and some holes had three groups on them at once. That was disappointing for sure. Not what I expected at this time of day and at this course. Let's hope that was an anomaly.

I would definitely recommend a visit to CrossCreek always though, but it would be great if they could get that reception fixed up a bit and make sure the course does not get backed up like it did this past weekend.
